Really good video! Really thorough, and I really like how relaxed you are and your editing style.

Very nice video. I wish there was a way to protect the sides of the iPad on the go when removing the Apple Magic Keyboard. I have seen some thin case covers that work with the Apple Magic Keyboard, but it seems like the connector pins eventually go bad on all of them.

Nice video Adam! I’m just waiting for the new iPads that are supposedly being released in march, then I’ll get a folio for my new iPad. Would you recommend just a folio/case? Or is it better to go with a keyboard? I’m not a pro user, just want the iPad Pro for the 120hz refresh rate lol

Man I love the Magic Keyboard for the typing on couch experience. How do you plan on using the iPad?
They’ve been talking about new iPads for a long time so it will be interesting to see if they get a full refresh or if its just another incremental one

I’ve used most keyboards. I don’t like the keyboards that lean back past the keyboard and need a fold out stand. On a desk, it’s fine, but if you’re actually using it on your lap, it has the Surface Pro problem in which most of the weight leans back right on that kickstand, which means a very thin line of weight on your legs. It gets painful after a short while. You also have to keep it closer so that the stand doesn’t slip off your knees where the entire thing falls off.

There are a variety of 3rd party options on Amazon. I have the Air 5 and was able to find one that is very similar to the Magic Keyboard. Track pad works very well. All for a fraction of the price. Best part is that it has a holder for apple pen. Another combo/keyboard was from Zagg. It was great just heavy because it had a case around the iPad itself.

Does that alternative have Smart Connector? All the cheaper versions I've found use a battery and standard bluetooth connection :(

I’ve found the cheap ones have terrible keys. If that doesn’t matter, I guess they’re ok.

I currently have a cheep folio and the Magic Keyboard that I carry with me and switch between - which is annoying. The main reason is I don't like using the Apple Pencil when the iPad is on upright on in the Magic Keyboard or flat on the table when it's not. Putting it into the folio, I can fold up in such a way it puts the iPad at a comfortable shallow angle for writing/drawing. Is there a way to use the Logitech case to do something similar?

I saw where you were typing on the Magic Keyboard while on your ‘lap’ it looked as if the system was not well balanced and would fall backwards if you took your palms off the keyboard? Is it a device that is ‘tippy’ ? Thanks…

I’ve tried both. The apple keyboard is so much more compact and despite it being more “tippy” it’s easier to control on the lap while typing. Though if you’re just watching content, you can fold the logitech keyboard under and use as a more stable base in a triangle configuration. For you, I’d recommend the apple keyboard also. The logitech one just feels so much less premium.

I like how the Apple Magic Keyboard types a bit better ... but I prefer the Logitech case for two reasons. 1) You have better protection on sides but also a more sturdy front and back and iPad will not fall out if nudged off a magnet. 2) The hinge allows you to fold the keyboard so the screen stays open or the screen is protected and closed. This is a big one because I download TV/movies to watch at the gym or when traveling. Unfortunately, the hinge on the magic keyboard case only folds forward to the closed position where I cannot see the screen. Not good. So I would have to take the iPad out of the case which makes it more likely over time to get damaged and have to find somewhere to put it. These hassles are eliminated with the Logitech case where you can just fold it up and securely go anywhere with nothing else to carry.
Also, I asked Apple why the magic keyboard case has no side protection. They said because they sell Apple Care. Hmm?

Personally having a really hard time with this decision. I currently have both and like the protection and flexibility of the logitech keyboard, but the build quality of the keyboard itself is pretty poor. There’s a ton of flex and the trackpad just feels so cheap compared to the apple keyboard. Also the apple keyboard has a much more laptop feel/look. Also, as I’m typing this, I’m realizing the larger trackpad of the logitech keyboard is actually a bad thing because I keep accidentally hitting it while typing and causing erroneous clicks that exit out of the text box. Happened 6 times now!

    • @user-rx3ww7nt2s
      @user-rx3ww7nt2s 25 дней назад

@@MrMartinoBranding I’d rather not damage it at all and I’ll never require repair. The Logitech combo touch is $100 less and protects the entire unit, vs paying $350 for a “keyboard” that offers no protection and then another $165 just in case I drop it. Apple does it so you’ll fork over for Apple Care. $250 vs $550. They can take a hike. I do prefer the Apple keyboard, but they can go @#$% themselves if they”re going to play this game. A case that’s not a case? Can get a top end Bluetooth keyboard for $100. All they had to do was add another $3 worth of plastic. Now, their competitor will get my money.

The apple magic keyboard DOESN'T offer more versatility. You just shown the logitech has more versatility (function row keys, versatility with hinge and ability to detach and still use, etc). You like the typing SLIGHTLY better on the magic keyboard and you like the style better. That's it.
Almost no one is going to hook peripherals to an iPad and need to charge the iPad simultaneously (hardly anyone will just do the former). Pass through charging isn't important to more than 99% of iPad buyers.

    • @adamtalkstech

Desk or lap use is more versatile to me. The newer Magic Keyboard looks better for sure.

I wouldn't say lap use is more versatile since both trade blows (combo touch gives the better viewing angles and magic keyboard is more sturdy on the lap). Imo both kinda suck on the lap for those two different reasons. But desk use is kinda better on the magic keyboard (uses less space and screen is closer to the face).
I hate that the apple magic keyboard doesn't offer protection around the sides and the horrible viewing angles when on my lap and I'm sitting in a chair. I kinda hate (not a lot) no function row keys. I'm spoiled. I like less steps to achieve a goal.
I hate that the combo touch isn't as sturdy as I like on my lap.
Although slight preference to magic keyboard on the desk (besides function row keys), I don't mind working with either on a desk.
