How to cut a pixie haircut with scissors
Most of the women want to get the long hair to feel the gladness, but you have to put more efforts for its proper maintenance. Steps to have pixie haircut:
Cutting the back - You have to start cutting with the damp hair which is already cut to your shoulder length. As this damp hair is somewhat shorter, it is very easier to cut it than the longer hair. Likewise, you have to cut all the layers of the hair to get short pixie haircut. Initially, you will get the uneven look and don’t bother about it. If you wear ponytail, it will be easier to cut and manage the hair to get the pixie look.
Refine your hairline along the nape - Using the comb, you can pull the hair and make the V-shape with the middle and fore fingers. Then, you have to close them against the hairs at the nape. Then, you have to cut the hair below this V-shaped hair.
Separate the front and back parts of the hair - Using the handle of the rat-tail comb, you have to separate the front and back parts of the hair on each side of your head and secure them using the clips. Now, you have cut the vertical section of your hair on the back and also center portion of the head.
After that, you have to do the horizontal hair section cutting across the vertical one. For all the layers of hair, you have to continue cutting the hair in the horizontal and vertical sections. In the entire pixie cut tutorial, it is really very important to do these section cuttings to get the perfect pixie haircut.
In the next step, you should blend the hair by just combing it in the upward direction and then snipping it. For this purpose, you can make use of the fine toothed comb.
Cutting the sides and top is also very important with the help of the same technique. You have to visually compare them in the mirror and cut the hair on both sides to get the even look.
Doing undercut for the twist is also very important when it comes to the pixie haircut.

I’m a hairdresser of nearly 50 years .. word of advise , get used to sitting on a chair to do close work, it will kill your legs and back like mine if you don’t . It’s not fun later on!
This is a modified wedge (Dorothy Hamilton) from the 80’s. I cut many of them. A pixie is much shorter think Twiggy, Audrey Hepburn are iconic.

First of all never take a phone call when your with a client..thats rude..that looks like a wedge cut.. and the man next to you is going to have back problems.. you can lift the chair so you can cut completely..

When I think pixie I think Twiggy, Audrey Hepburn Mia Farrow. This was a 70s hairdo for sure. It was Dorothy Hamill AKA 1976 and it did not flatter her at all with that big gray streak running down the middle of her head
I think that was areas where she had bald areas. I noticed it several times when she would part the clients hair.

I have thin, fine hair and I wanted a 1970s shag...like Jane Fonda in Klute...I had it back then and I thought I’d try it again...well the hairdresser started using thinning shears on my already straggly hair...I just said I’m sorry I can’t do that. So I left. I’m sure she could do a good job w people who had good hair but someone like me who tries to do everything to plump mine up...don’t start thinning it even more!

Wow, people! Why so negative and critical? The woman's hair was wild to begin with, and now was much better! She has really good thick hair, with lots of shine and body. Perhaps she's trying to grow it out to gray, which would be a knock out if you ask me. Or maybe she just wanted it cut and planned to color it later. Most people cannot afford Christopher Hopkins the Makeover guy. Why hurt people's feelings just because you think you coulda shoulda woulda done better? This haircut may well have been the one and ONLY thing this woman has been able to do for herself in weeks! If you can't say something nice, just shut up!
Fiona Fowlks I totally agree with everything you say! I have been reading these negative comments with amazement! The beautician was very thorough, it's a good haircut. Whether or not it suits the client is beside the point. Part of me wishes we could see the hairstyles of the commenters!

I don't understand these comments. Towards the end of the video, she looks pleased with her cut, if you ask me. And I think it's a good haircut, flattering, a good shape, sort of Dorothy Hamill like but not as wedgy.
The woman is growing her gray hair out. It is a process. Cut makes her hair look healthy. Be kind people.

KATEso TONER I’m growing my gray out at the moment and I didn’t get a pixie with my highlights. It looks fine long. It’s all in how the stylist integrates the highlights with the gray. You want a stylist that knows what she’s doing.
If she's growing her hair out there is a product that caught is called Fanci Full Chocolate Kiss is the color in that would have looked a lot better on her Roots as she was growing her white hair out

I cut my own. Looks a lot better than this. The last 15 or so salon cuts have been disappointing and I always wonder why I paid for cuts I had to fix, if they were even fixable. True hairstyling is an art. This ain't.

It's the too dark hair color for her age that causes the off feeling. It may not be like the old fashioned pixie, but it is a good cut.
