    I bought this 3 days ago. Rright away it reached and took out a bolt on my Harley Davidson. Retired Navy aircraft mechanic and retired A&P mechanic after 25 years. Now I don't worry about torque.

    A bargain and works well! My bro (we're both retired USAF fighter fixers with auto/truck/motorcycle yadda yadda experience of several decades each including running tool rooms military and in my case civilian too) bought one now his Milwaukee just sits on the shelf. The small head on the Hercules is ideal for tight locations on vehicles.
    We recently pulled three LS engines and two 4L80E transmissions at a u-pull-it yard and like everything else we use worked that Hercules hard. Best to use the length to manually break torque then use the Hercules to run the fasteners out but it paid for itself easily. It doesn't replace other size and style impacts but I'm buying one soon as they're in stock where I live.
    It's not for breaking loose very tight hardware (that's a breaker bar and cheater tube task) but it will save you wrists from RSI like other small impacts.
    We have a wide variety of cordless, corded and pneumatic tools worth several thousand bucks each and still love the Hercules design. Everyone else (including the big makers) should copy the slender head.

    I like mine for the reach but several months use has the motor getting a bit weak. I still recommend it for the exceptional long reach and small head because that fits where others do not but now I save it for hardware that REQUIRES the reach/size instead of using it for the whole job. No one else makes an equivalent cordless (some pneumatics exist) and when ya need it for mobility ya it's a money maker.

      Good to know. Maybe worth investing in a second set as a pro; still cheaper than Milwaukee snap-on

    Look how long the head is on the torque wrench. Compare to "extended reach" cordless ratchet. Kinda makes all the other regular ratchets look stubby by comparison.

    The problem with these HF tools is you never know how long they're going to carry it, or where you can get the battery, or any follow-up support. Warranty is 90 days, where as Milwaukee would be 5 years.

      The good thing though, is that the Hercules and Bauer lines of power tools seem to be the ones that will stick around. Their older brands weren't that great, but these tools actually perform very well.

      Makita makes a ratchet that comes with a battery and another anvil to make it 1/4 with battery and charger. $189. Also its really fast.

      My bro has both tools and the Milwaukee gathers dust on the shelf. I'm buying a Hercules when they're back in stock. The design gets into tight locations and shaved considerable time off salvage yard engine pulls. We used the heck out of it and it lives in our salvage yard run tool box.

  • @Franklinveterinarycenter1of4

    Brush tool won't last as long as brushless. 90 day warranty. When HF makes THIS ONE in in brushless with 5 year warranty and $150 cheaper than Milwaukee, I will consider it.

    • @Sffker
      @Sffker 2 года назад +2

      You can replace brushes. That’s what brushes are, consumables meant to be replaced. You don’t just wear thru brushes and then throw the tool away when they’re too worn.

    • @Franklinveterinarycenter1of4
      @Franklinveterinarycenter1of4 2 года назад

      You are right; however brush motors do not last as long as brushless nor do they have consistent torque compared to brushless ratchets. The price with charger and 2.5 amp battery will cost around $200. Milwaukee 1/4" extended neck with 2 amp battery and charger around $337. 5 year ratchet 3 year battery and charger. Milwaukee also has protection mechanism with red line batteries that keeps tool from overheating.

    • @Sffker
      @Sffker 2 года назад +1

      @@Franklinveterinarycenter1of4 it is not the motor that fails. The brushes wear down to a point where electrical contact with the rotor is not possible/efficient and the tool is inoperable until you replace brushes. I work on industrial motors, with brushes.. the motors last many, multiple pairs of brushes. A motor simply does not fail just because the brushes fail.
      By the way, I wouldn’t be so quick to discount the internals of cheaper tools, these days. Unless you’ve opened both the tool and battery pack and verified yourself; HF battery packs use the same Samsung cells as other brands, etc.

    • @obfuscated3090
      @obfuscated3090 Год назад +1

      I collect brushed tools from flea markets then clean the commutator and replace the brushes which are dirt cheap. Brushless is nice but far from mandatory. My bros Milwaukee (we don't care about battery interchange and buy what we prefer based on how well it works for our truck and general mechanic work) sits on the shelf because the HF works so well. He brings the HF to our salvage yard engine and transmission pull runs which is why I'm buying one when they're back in stock.
