Want a great gift you can create quickly using your vinyl cutter and a few other supplies you can pick up at the craft store or Amazon?
Etched glass items are very popular this time of year! From etching the bottoms (outside surface) of baking dishes to glass ornaments, these fun projects make beautiful and memorable gifts.
Our ColorSpark Permanent Adhesive vinyl works great to make the stencil for these ornaments. Get it on sale Here: www.therhinest...
Remember to cut a weed box bigger than your design, to help protect the rest of your glass surface. You will also use Reverse Weeding to apply your transfer tape then remove the areas of your design that you want etched.
We also recommend wearing latex or non-latex protective gloves while doing this project and be in a well-ventilated room.
Apply the stencil to your surface, then dab Armour Etch cream to the clean glass surface: www.amazon.com...
Follow the directions on the Armour Etch jar. Excess cream can be scraped back into the jar. We left our etching cream on 5 minutes.
Rinse your project with water, remove the adhesive vinyl stencil and your item is ready to be displayed or given as a thoughtful gift!

Lisa, I have never had a cutter. I ordered a Cameo 4 and for the last few days, I have been stressed, nearly cried, and was to the point of returning my machine. I have watched a zillion you tubers, but they never showed everything they were doing or what the buttons were they were choosing or what they were doing. I, just tonight, found a lesson you put online 5 years ago and you are asking questions and you are explaining everything. People that are showing you what to do, don't realize that some of us have never used one and we are visual people. Thank you so so much. I am going to give this machine another chance. (yes, I was watching the beginner programs). I will be watching you a lot.
Thanks so much! We appreciate your support 🥰️

I’ve been etching glass for a few years now with lots of success. What I like to use to hold wine glasses in place is an unopened bag of Cheerios.
Very clever!

Great tutorial! About 3 weeks ago I etched wedding toasting champagne glasses for my son. It was a Scottish wedding therefore I was able to incorporate the celtic thistle on one side and their full names and date on the other. Turned out fantastically!!
Awesome!! -TRW Crystal
I love this!! I will be doing some for Christmas 🎄🎁
It's such a great gift. There's zero worry about dishwashers, and if they're soaking them too long, etc like there is with vinyl.

This is the solution to my problem I was having I really appreciate this
Excellent! We love sharing tips and tricks!

Glad I found your page. I've just started using my Cameo 4.
Welcome aboard!😊
-TRW Mireya
This is so cool! i am just thinking about buying the Cameo 4 for T-shirts and these ideas are just coming in my way. :D My sister in law's sister asked if i could do engrave. Not the same but this thing is cool too. :D
Etch is a little different, yes. Personally I like to etch, then use what they call an etch rub (colors!). Gorgeous way to make it stand out.

What is the tape you used to cover the decal (to reverse weed)? Thank you.

Hello,
I’m in the process of watching all of your Silhouette Studio videos for tutorials.
Thank you for doing these.
QUESTION: Does this cream work the same and as good on stainless steel tumblers and containers?
I have never used etched cream before, but I do want to learn it and become really good at it.
Again, thank you so much! And you did take a long time with a long video! 13:24
I haven't tried the cream on a stainless tumbler, I doubt it would do much other than possibly lighten it a little if at all (the way those are generally made are with lasers). On powder coated it should though. Experimentation is life though, give it a shot!
-TRW Crystal
I am just now seeing this video. Is the permanent htv linked in the description what was used to make the etching in the glass?
Instead of htv (for garments), we use permanent adhesive viny:
www.therhinestoneworld.com/shop-colorspark-adhesive-vinyl
-TRW Crystal
Thank you first time I come across this method
Yeah it's pretty cool! Thanks for watching
-TRW Bri
Will this work on plexiglass?
We haven't tested this, but if you do let us know how it turned out :-)
-TRW Crystal
Another great project! Easy too, agreed!

Thank you for sharing. I have lots of ideas now
You are so welcome!
does etching cream work on tumblers? or only on glass?
Good morning! We checked google for details on Armor Etch: Armour Etch is a fast-acting specially formulated glass etching compound that lets you create permanently etched designs on windows, mirrors and household glassware.” A few things to keep in mind is that this is not recommended for use on Pyrex, plastic or large solid areas of glass.
Hope this helps! -TRW Pilar
I love to do glass etching. Thank you for the video

-TRW Crystal
what kind of paper are you cutting? I am sorry I am new with the cameo 4
It's permanent adhesive vinyl used as a stencil. If it's not left on long term, then it's a great way to seal crisp lines on glass etching and easily removed. The longer it sits, the better it sticks, so don't let it stay on the cup for days. -TRW Crystal
Awesome 👌🏾
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying the videos!
-TRW Crystal
can the etching apply on acrylic?
We haven't tested it on acrylic, but as easily as it scratches from daily use, my bet would be that it would work, especially since it will on glass. :-)
-TRW Crystal
I was wondering how you got a Cameo 4 to etch glass.
Adhesive vinyl for the stencil and etching cream! It works like a dream. 😊
- TRW Haley
What kind of fdc decal vinyl do you use?
You can use any Permanent Adhesive vinyl. Lately, we prefer our ColorSpark permanent vinyl to use as a stencil: www.therhinestoneworld.com/colorspark-permanent-adhesive-craft-vinyl -TRW Pilar
Is there a video for how you made your cup holder?
I can't find how or where we got that cradle, but if you just search up "tumbler cradle" on google, there are many similar options :)
-TRW Bri
Great video but my question is, are you mirroring the design when cutting?
We don't mirror the design!
-TRW Bri
Thank you for the easy tutorial :)
You're so welcome! We're happy to help! -TRW Crystal
I enjoyed your video. Your instructions are very clear. This is the first time I've responded with comments to any video on RUclips. I love glass etching. I think I enjoy it more than making decals with my Silhouette cutter, but it is still a fairly new skill for me. I have a question that I'm looking for an answer for. I attempted to etch a Pyrex casserole dish, but the etching cream didn't etch the design into the dish. There was only the faintest trace of parts of the design in the dish. I left the etching cream on for almost 30 minutes & my etching cream was was only a few months old. I was hoping you would have some suggestions as to why it didn't work properly or a suggestion on what to do to correct the problem because I would like to be able to etch Pyrex casserole dishes for wedding & Christmas gifts.
Thank you for reaching out to us! Some Pyrex products have fortified glass that can't be affected much by Armour Etch. I recommend trying to use the cream on another dish to figure out if the cream is defective or if the dish just can't be etched. Let us know if you have any other questions! :)
-TRW Bri
@@TheRhinestoneWorld I'll give this a try. Thank you for your help!
What video would you refer me to set up for cutting. I want to etch a NFL logo on a decanter. Thanks
For cutting the vinyl? -TRW Crystal
Mind blown!
It works so well, too! Just be sure to have excess vinyl around your cut area to protect the rest of the glass. That etching cream will etch the rest of you accidentally go beyond the edge of your weed box. ;) -TRW Pilar
I noticed you are using the business edition I was going to buy the business one but the one that came with my cameo is free so they say you have to have a paid version so business is 99 dollars but it is basic business so what is the difference between basic biz or if i bought designer first then upgrade to the business addition?
Here is a good comparison chart that will show you all the difference. I would recommend upgrading from the Basic Edition since you cannot import designs, the Business edition is best if doing rhinestones designs.
www.silhouetteamerica.com/software/silhouette-studio-features-comparison-chart
-TRW Mireya
Thank you for this process. Do you think its possible to put colored glass ink on the exposed area once you have washed the etching cream off the glass to give it the texture of etching along with a color. Example would be having a white mug and applying the same process but then using black glass ink to stain the exposed area once the etching cream is washed off - giving it a texture and appearance.
You could definitely try that, I would recommend putting the decal first and even adding vinyl shield to protect it for what you are trying to achieve.
-TRW Mireya
I’ve been to Douglas Lake lol it’s relaxing
Thanks for watching!
-TRW Abby
do you need to curve the letters? Since its going on a glass.
In this video tutorial Lisa does not curve the letters.
Great job

I want something that is not vinyl so I don’t have to peel it off each time. What machine do you recommend and do i need any other product for personal designs.
Hi there, we work mostly with vinyl and rhinestones, so we wouldn't be able to recommend a machine made for other uses, unfortunately.
- TRW Haley
Theres a specific machine for engrave or etching.. Search laser engrave.. You can cut acrylic, engrave or etch in several materials
What kind of paper u printed on?
That's our FDC Sign Vinyl found here:
www.therhinestoneworld.com/FDC-Intermediate-4200-Sign-Vinyl-12_c_1857.html
-TRW Bri
Can i make the stencil with a different product so i can reuse the stencil. I have 25 glasses i need to stencil.
Hi Priscilla! I can't think of anything more cost efficient than using 1 foot of FDC Sign Vinyl from our website. 1 foot is less than a dollar and should be enough to create 25 small templates.
- TRW Haley
Can the auto blade be used for this?
The auto blade can be used to cut the vinyl.
-TRW Abby
Love the welding ring. Where can I purchase one.
Try Amazon!
-TRW Abby
I tried etching some glass baubles but it didn’t work at all, any advice?
Unfortunately, we no longer work with glass etching. Best of luck.
- TRW Haley
thanks
We're happy to help! Don't miss out on tomorrows live!! We're revealing something new!! 8pmEST -TRW Crystal
That’s so cool
Thanks! Glass etching gets super popular this time of year! Be sure to wear protective gloves and leave plenty of extra vinyl around your stencil so you don't accidentally etch other parts of your glass. ;) -TRW Pilar
How would I use the warp feature for a glass with more curves such as a stemless wine glass? I've been trying to figure it out to make it work for a fairly intricate design to no avail! any and all help is appreciated!

Thank you for sharing this awesome video! I'm planning to etch on some glass soon. My question is does the design your made on the software before printing need to be cornered as your did @3:47.
Hi there! Lisa placed the design in the corner of her workspace in order to maximize the use of her material.
