You should read the novel "Vendetta", by Peter David. In the novel, the Doomsday Machine was built by the Preservers(the aliens from TNG, "The Chase") as an anti-Borg weapon in their war. They didn't have time to launch the final version, so they launched the prototype instead. Yes, the one from the episode is just a prototype, the final version was...larger.
Good read. It made a great point that the Doomsday Machine couldn't travel the voids between galaxies because there were no planets to fuel it, which is opposite of what was premised in TOS.
In the Novel Star Trek Vendetta the Borg fight a planet Killer and loose. The description was almost funny. As I recall it said "The unknown vessel fired an energy beam of pure anti-protons that laughed at the Borgs shields and blew off the top half the the Cube"...
I want to say thanks for the awesome videos. Because of your Contant, I’ve decided to buy Bridge Commander for myself and you’re automatic mod installers really helped. I hope you do a four pack of mods since I can’t really get mods from other places because of my computer.
Well, in TOS, Fed starships could survive multiple hits from the planet killer, so it's not THAT powerful. But it's not weak, either, and would likely do a lot of damage to the Borg. In TNG, the Enterprise almost destroyed the cube upon first meeting them, but the cube survived because Picard got curious and wanted to get all sciency and stuff. So the cube not only repaired, but adapted, and then could easily take down OBD (Old Bald Dome). The planet killer would likely just keep blasting away until the Borg would be attempting to assimilate the vaccum of space...
Remember in Star Trek Vendetta the Doomsday Machine 2.0 not only ate The Borg for breakfast it flew through the heart of a Sun to recharge. This is the proper mod for the Doomsday machine. Retro where can I get it?
@@RetroBadgerGaming Say what! When and why has RUclips make it unable to post links? Also the mod I have from Gamefront of The Doomsday Machine originally was not as powerful as it should have been. And the upgrade from Sci-fi did not seem to take. Since you can't post the link to this one, perhaps you can tell me where and what page it's on in Gamefront. Because this Doomsday Machine is the one that everyone should have. And I would love to put her up against not only Star Wars fleets, but a Blake's 7 System Fleet.
I just saw a (teaser) trailer for a new Star Trek game called Star Trek Infinite pc game i think. At the end of the trailer says there's going to be a full reveal on Picard day june 16 2023.
i have a version of it that ive balanced completely to the show. a connie can take a few hits, and the damage is enough to damage much later ships, and it can also destroy planets. Like we see in TOS, the front maw is completely open and you can shoot down it. The hull takes a bit to blast throught. Unless you have a super powerful ship, you cant get through the neutronium hull
@@keyboardt8276 Its a special script that you can put into custom file of the ship that allows it to target and attack planets with beam weapons, and one shot it
Actually, from the Peter David novel, "Vendetta," the Borg never would have been able to. The Doomsday Machine's energy beam is pure anti-proton, meaning it is a pure ANTIMATTER beam. When the colossal model faced off and was fully-charged, the Borg stood no chance. Were they able to hang in the fight a little longer? Yes, but only because the being driving the planet killer wasn't fully focused.
The supposed final design would be much larger than this bristling with powerful weapons this is thought to be the core of that giant machine the exterior all blown away throughout the unknowable amount of years of combat
Yeah that's a bit too powerful, it destroyed the Constellation in the TOS episode but if it can do this to a Borg Cube, the Constellation should have been completely annihilated! Also it's hull should be pretty much impenetrable as its made from Neutronium
re: the hull; yea that's an issue w/ Star Trek Bridge Commander's engine & scripting; they basically can't get "armor" / hull strength to work right, everything has to be shields; there is a "hull rating" but it's more like hitpoints. The version of the Stargate pack I had correctly had Wraith ships with no shields, & like 1-2 hits would cripple or destroy them, even though in the show they are floating tanks the size of cities with regeneration capabilities which can take lots of sustained fire for long periods of time. The same goes here; they had to give it a shield value and it goes down no matter what. Plus it can't really do different types of damage/energy for different types of weapons. Also yes, the beam is way way too powerfull. The TOS Constellation took "a few" shots before being too damaged to continue the fight (not destroyed), the TOS Enterprise took a shot & then got the hell out away from it.

I too was shocked when it showed the Borg being taken out so quickly. Especially a tactical cube.

SEE STAR TREK "Vendetta" PLANET KILLER WAS BUILT FOR THIS
Peter David wrote the best Trek books
When Retro Badger took control of the Borg Galaxy class, I heard "bye for now" in the Borg collective's voices.
😂😂
Spacecraft from " Quatermass an the Pit " , Nigel Neil ? Five Million Years To Earth . 1967 .
That was a really really amazing video I'd love 2 an assimilated Doomsday Machine vs the Dominion if there is an assimilated Doomsday Machine

EXCELLENT, MOST EXCELLENT !
"Pure anti proton, absolutely pure!"
The Doomsday Machine had no shields. And even the Borg could not damage the massive neutroniumhull of the Doomsday Machine.
