😢
I like how you work so many problems and take the time to go through each step...your examples are so similar to the ones my professor gives on quizzes and exams. Thanks for taking the time to make this super helpful video!
I LOVE YOU
Well said. This guy is carrying me through my nontraditional premed journey. I owed him so I bought some of his swag.

Good
Are u aware that an Indian publication named oswal has given a link to this video in its book in the form of QR code
Wait fr??
@@PineappleonPizza2769 ya there was some theory abt ethers then there was the qr saying scan if u want to know more
not sure if this is the case for all orgo classes but in mine we can also name "4-bromo-3-methoxy-2-pentanol" as "4-bromo-3-methoxypentan-2-ol" so that it's clear in the name where the hydroxyl group is located on the compound. fyi, both are right but my professor just prefers the second way!
2nd one should be preferred cause the first one is not applicable when unsaturation comes.
It was what i was just asking myself rn !
The first one is old IUPAC naming system, on the other hand the second is written using the newer version (given by IUPAC) of naming system.
@@ljmicahlucas9688 I love your reasoning
Yeah, it confused me a lot
brother, i can proudly say that youtube has good teacher like u... i literally understood each and every example!!! love from India!!

Does this show up on India's youtube or UK's or US'? Why did you choose US youtube region by chance? Just curious because I thought India is much closer with Britain.
@@ethanchen4504 In India, highschool students generally use these lectures for their competitive exams , for example am in 11th grade , and studying this to build my base. Then we have to study even more advanced things. Some common exams are JEE INPhO INChO RMO INMO NEET etc.

You always make great videos! Great work, keep it up. Kids like me are surviving orgo thanks to your help!
Such a confusing topic. Thanks so much for simplifying it. Excellent video!
you calmed my anxiety for my test coming up , thank you !!:)
You are always there for me to solve my chem problems 😄😄😄
Thanks dude cleared my basics this is nothing compared to the ones we get in school tho
also, you missed anisole and all the other compounds attached to benzene.
I had solved these problems in 10th grade
Frankly telling the video is amazing. Concept clarification is 100% granted ,,,, but I just want to raise a question,, like you wrote up
3-methyl-2-heptene it should be :
3-methylhept(2)ene
It really depends on your instructor's preference... For some instructors, it is the other way around.
Both are correct
Am so proud of you. Thank you so much for giving me more knowledge. . I thought I would never learn it, but thank God you gave me hope ❤❤❤
Thanks for such a organized video♥️
I have a test tomorrow on organic chemistry. This really helped clear some things up, thank you!!
Why are u soo good in explaining tough thngs
he is simply the awesomest!!!!
I have a test today in organic chemistry
This helped to cleaar a lot of stuff. Up
Thanks
Brother what would be name of :-
C--C--O--C
Ethoxy methane
Methoxy ethane(I thought this one)
Methoxy ethane
What's the longest chain? It's ethane, so it should be methoxy ethane because the methyl group acts as a substituent.
Idk why i laughed at this part 9:32
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
👙
I laughed too, haha. He rarely gets out of line so it's funny to see this man make mistakes like a normal human lol
Thank you so much (Fri 18 Dec 2020, 4:48 AM)
Thnk u so much brother
In the example with cyclohexane, if we change it to benzene then we call it benzene right?
Do you think you could do a video on the lenard-jones potential? including the graph etc?
thanks for the great vids :)
Thank you so much ur saving so many ppls grades
12:06 looks like a face 😂, And this vid really helps me to review it for my continuation of my scince exam and my science exam has 100 pts overall
can u add subtitles in your video because sometimes the subtitle in yt doesnt really know the exact word
I understand but I have a question if there is Ch3_O-CH2-Ch-(Ch3)-Ch3 what would be the iupac name of it plz tell me
1 methoxy 2 methyl propane
i had a question on #5:50 minutes of the video shouldn't it be like 2-ethoxy isopropane ? im just confused
Remove the ethoxy group and name it, it would just be propane right? So there you go
For the iupac name don't we have to number the cyclo's am a little bit confused and why
You said alcohol takes precedence over an ether in naming... but how do you know? What if they give a question including other hydrocarbon derivatives with an ether... how do I know which one takes precedence over another in terms of order of naming???
2021 and you still saving lifes!
2024😂
7:48
4 bromo 3 methoxy 2 hydroxyl pantane
Should be correct??
The OH group changes the suffix to -ol. When you have high priority group like OH groups you can’t name it as -ane
i love loving you.
Sir I like your way of teaching ☺
ruclips.net/video/xeNSf0paCE0/видео.html
I have a doubt, in your first example u told it's methoxy ethane but to write it's methoxy ethane there isn't 6 hydrogens to tell it's ethane rght??
Thanks a lot...... From India
Robinson Michelle Gonzalez Edward Lewis Jason
MUCH LOVE
Excellent! Clear and concise!! 😊
Wow...thank you sooo much❤️
I don’t understand… how do you know if something is methoxy ethane or if it’s ethoxy methane? Because isn’t it the same thing?
The side which has the smaller number of carbon will become the alkoxy group. While the other side will become the base chain or parent chainm
@@r-pasamonteamiel7605 yeah I know by now. Just had my IB chemistry exam today.
thank you so much, this helps me a lot
What if you have subs on both sides of your ether? How do u name it? For example, I have on the left 1-ethyl -2 methyl propyl and the right side has 1,3 dimethyl propyl ...? What would be the correct name for it?
God bless you Sir
I really learnt alot 😘💨💗😊
Anybody from mars like here
People From moon comment
who are you lol.... such a great tutor with a really understanding voice.... thank you
Please why did you not indicate the position of the ethers on the cycloalkanes as they where on the second carbon (ortho) ?
At which point in the video?
I thought we are to ignore the prefix, is cyclo not a prefix in this case?
Thank you for making such a good video. I have a better understanding now!!!
methoxy as a substituent.. you never explained that.. or the you jumped to ethoxy.. again you may have said just because but you never really explained why it is the way it is... so im just suppose to remember that... please explain in more detail
-O-CH3 is methoxy. What else is there to explain lol.
Whos watching this cause they have a test tommorow?
Isn’t at 5:10 the common name ethylneopropyl ether?
6:55 isn't that wrong name, 2 methyl should come first
As
2methyl 3 ethoxy pantane
e comes before m alphabetically, he's right about the naming
Go for exceptions amigo and more deep.
Thank you once again.
When he says now you know how to name ethars..he MEANT it🙃
Anybody here after oswal's qr code 😁
What if both alkoxy groups have a branched structure? If the numbering starts from 0 twice, how can you keep apart the two number sequences?
Bro what do you mean by priority of functional groups
is it true that the prefixes are included in alphabetical order? ex: di, tri, tetra, cyclo? because my profesor said these prefixes are not included in alphabetical order.
Nope. Di, tri, tetra... so on is not included. Only those that include in alphabetical prefixes are iso, cyclo, forgot the rest hehe
thanx u so.. much ♥️ for best explanation of naming
Very helpful, easy to understand because of good explanation.
New sub.. Thank you so much teacher it helps me better to understand our chemistry class
Helped me alot and thanks for your wonderful explanation sir.

Why is it called isopropyl
love from india buddy 😃
In first example, the answer should be ethoxy methane I guess
Please also make video on cyclic ether
This is my first time ever watchin an actual Organic Chemistry video from you, which means you've made me pass general chemistry 1st semester. Thank you @TheOrganicChemistryTutor

U have nice voice bro
biust students hello!! ya betsa course..le ithute go attenda
at least I got it 😃😃
Im in love with ur voice😍😍😍
I'm sorry but for the IUPAC name of ethyl isopropyl ether, shouldn't it be 2-ethoxyisopropane?
My book teaches it that way. Basically, chemist dont always agree and you should probably just follow whichever method your professor taught you. I think multiple answers are valid for writing the name out, but on multiple choice you could see either one.
@@mikemendez5873
Oh okay thank you :)
I'm confused 8:06 …4-bromo-3-methoxy-2-pentanol? I thought 4-bromo-2-hydroxy-3-methoxy pentane? Hahaha pls correct me
gil palz it's an alcohol so it has the ending -ol
Ryan W why it’s an alcohol
Alcohol is a functional group and hence it is used as a functional group here and the compound name ends with "ol". Although I'd like to point out that in latest IUPAC nomenclature , real answer would be '4-bromo-3-methoxy pentan-2-ol'
Can u tell in hindi or in telugu
استمر
can't imagine better explanation
TNX A LOT BRO
Thanks this is a life saver❤
Bless u🫶🏾🫶🏾😭
make one on sulfides please ASAP
Why isn't the 3 carbon a chiral center?
In 8:00 I didn't know that we depend in polarity in numbering!!!! I didn't read this on textbooks before..so weird!
What a god.
finally I can crack my xam..tq so much for good video
