    Something wrong with 4,5 ones audio, it sounds mono. It's not "better stereo sepparation" for E5, the review does not sound fair. Author, are you sure you have the same setup for both monitors? It sounds as though the recorder was on mono during 4,5 ones. Please double check.

      I definitely agree with you George. When you check HS5 vs E4.5 ( ruclips.net/video/L-TWwGOhRqk/видео.html ) and HS5 vs E5 ( ruclips.net/video/SWT-9LfiRGc/видео.html ) you can hear that both E4.5 and E5 sounds very close to HS5. So the difference in this video between E4.5 and E5 is irrelevant.

    The e4.5 is not bi amped, which is, not considered active speakers, but actually powered speakers, which give more distortion and imbalance. While being 0.5 inch smaller, its sound quality is significantly less compared to e5

      +Digital Stereophony, I've bought the Eris 4.5's too and I'm having trouble connecting the Tremblor T10 subwoofer to them (just for listening to sounds from my PC, not mixing or anything). To be more precise, I don't have a clue how to connect them. The dealer sold me two 1/4" jack to jack cables supposedly for that purpose, but no matter which way I try them, the sub doesn't work. I'm new to studio monitors, but I'm wondering if I've been sold the wrong cables, or there is a component missing, such as some kind of interface, or maybe the monitors and sub aren't even compatible even though they were bought together. I'd be massively appreciative and a subscription would be a foregone conclusion if you could help me out. You can see the backs of both the monitors and sub on the Presonus website... www.presonus.com/

    I think the 4.5 has most of the Mid range Frequencies coming out. The Lower frequencies on E5 are o much better, but I like the sound of the Eris 4.5 here. @@DSAUDIOreview Perhaps it is difficult to compare them since it takes a higher volume/watt to power up and hear the E 5 right? THat is why the e 4.5 seem like more forward coming: Smaller and need less to get powered up. Yet to me it is easy to hear that there is more bass in the e5 and that if you turn up the volume a bit they are superior at least when it comes to bass.

    The E5s' sound is spaced much better than the E4.5s. The E4.5s sound a bit too boxy and focused. Their frequencies seem more crowded. But that seems to depend on type of music. Some songs seem to sound clearer on the E4.5s, since they benefit from that compacted sound. Overall, the E5s are the winners here, which makes sense, from a price point too.

    C'mon, the difference is striking... 2 amplifiers per channel is probably the reason... Shorter power cables... The cabinet also seems a lot deafer in model 5. A speaker vs. A Multimedia speaker!

      I have not tested Samson so it is hard for me to give You my opinion on them. All I can say is that I tested Presonus E5 against many comparable monitors and they always fair well, they are solid monitors and a safe choice IMO

    How do the Presonus 5 compare to the KRK Classic 5?

  • @Juliien1996
    @Juliien1996 4 года назад

    Hello Digital Stereophony, looking for a little advice please !
    I've seen many of your videos about the Eris 4.5 & 5 and I am torn apart because I don't really know which one I should buy because the price gap between the 2 is only 35€..
    It is mostly to listen to music (Buckethead, Metal, Rock, Classical, Piano) as I don't mix or anything and also there is no acoustic treatment in my room which is 4x6m.
    I currently have the Eris 3.5 and I'm genuinely impressed with what PreSonus has achieved with these 98€ speakers so that's why I'd like to upgrade to bigger speakers. I will be pairing the monitors with my Zoom UAC-2 in case it matters.
    Thank you and keep up the good work! Happy new year!

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  4 года назад +1

      With the price difference so small, just get E5. Smaller E4.5 is not bad by any means, but E5 will be much better in room like yours. Cheers!

    Intersting... in this review i hear the bass of E5 very well... on sonic sense sample the e5 dont have base at all... in that channel lsr 305 have more bass (a lot) than E5, but E5 seems to be clearer. I'm in doubt between hs7, jbl 305 (same price) and E5 (1/4 cheaper) to play keyboard, listen music, movies, home studio. Well, the E5 have good clean bass? (im not a crazy bass).

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  7 лет назад +3

      E5 does have a clean but rather lean bass for 5inch woofer. In reality JBL has more depth of bass and grooves better. I have not heard HS7 yet so I will not comment on them, but between E5 and LSR305 my vote goes to JBL. E5 is rather analytical in character, where JBL is more musical and richer overall in my opinion.

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  7 лет назад +2

      Clear sound signature of E5 comes from forward midrange. JBL has midrange that is both better balanced with highs and lows, and more detailed than in E5. I have both LSR305 and E5 at home but E5 stays in boxes while JBL is used every day in my desktop setup.

    I have the Eris 4.5. I like them pretty much, im impressed of the highs and mids for such small speakers. Bass is okay and "calibrated" properly but..i feel the need for more bass sometimes. I use them for multimedia and bedroom Dj`ing. I was thinking to go for E5. Does E5 have considerably more bass then E.4.5? Enough to worth the upgrade? (wish the E-4.5 had a button to adjust and add some bass, like it has for mids and highs on the back of the speaker)

    I was struggling long time about a new audio solution for my pc desk. Currently have 2x heco victa 301, powered by a very old Harman kardon hk6100 stereo amplifier. But it takes just too much space, so I wanted something smaller without investing more than 150€
    Thanks to your reviews I just ordered the presonus 4.5. Pretty looking forward how they will perform compared to my current solution.

      Digital Stereophony should be shipped next week. I'll report.
      Btw do you know the brand Heco? They are a bit bigger sized shelf speakers. Hope the presonus don't be too weak on the low end compared to the victa 301 (30-34.000hz)

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  7 лет назад +1

      Eris E4.5 is substantially smaller than Your Heco, with 4.5 inch woofer versus almost 7 inch in Heco, so there definietly will be a difference in bass response, no doubt. But I find the bass of Eris E4.5 to be very good for their size, You should be fine, especially in nearfield ;)

      so they were delivered yesterday. they looked bigger in the pictures/videos, great to see they are so small!
      i hooked them up to my pc, and ran a hifi-test-cd on them (EASCA test) sounded quite nice, but i noticed some rattling/buzzing noise at lower frequencies. so i fired up my sweepgen and found out the left speaker buzzed from 50 up to 200hz, something inside was making noise. i was pretty frustrated but decided to just open them up, checked for loose cables or anything, put them back together and it was gone.. guess a cable just might have laid in a bad way that caused vibration nois.
      so now they function perfectly.. and i'm amazed how well they sound! even the bass is more than i imagined. i guess i won't need a subwoofer, for that i have my big hifi system on the other end of the room. for general use on my pc (gaming, producing some music for fun) it's just perfect! size perferct!
      also i ordered the foam pads.. nice difference. and so much space on my desk now withouth those 2 huge hecos and the big old hk6100.
      thank you again!
      oh btw.. since you check out a lot of small desk-speakers, try to review the heco ascada 2.0, since heco is my go to brand in hifi, great sound for good price, but those ascadas were too big and too pricey for me as a simple pc-speaker solution.

    (first, sorry my english is not very well)
    I'm looking for cheap monitor,usually
    use it at listen to music, playing video games,and important one is DJing, so i bought Pioneer DM-40,but Bass too HEAVY AND LOUD,it coverd mid and high,also my room is very small(2.5M x 3.1 M), it make the bass louder in my room.
    So,i decided to buy a new one, seems PreSonus Eris E3.5 or E4.5 is a good choice for me,its cheaper on amazon, do you suggest it? also i afraid E3.5's bass punch too weak,what do you think?
