Well Matt, that was really interesting, thanks. To my shame, and after holidaying almost exclusively in Greece - particularly in the Mani - for the last 40 years, I have never actually noticed how the olives were harvested. So I was a bit surprised to see you brutally attacking the trees with a chain-saw. Then being thrashed with a Postman Pat swatter and comb !! Still, it's obviously the traditional way you have and, what a good result ! Nine litres of the real stuff. Well worth the effort, I'm sure.
3l per tree of organic olive oil...good stuff...Matt you say you’ll do it old school but using chainsaw is not that old school, right...I heard using chainsaw gives certain level of gasoline pollution in oil to be consider organic. What would be alternative way of picking ?
Fair point Bosko. I guess to be 100% purist, you'd pick all of the olives direct from the tree, bag them up and THEN prune the branches with the chainsaw.
@@insidethemani9852 purist - yes, good point... Now, this is what I heard, I’m not 100% sure, is that using chainsaw is Mani thing...they don’t use it in Crete. Keep safe👍

Our neighbours reckon it's a bad year for olives.☹️
Time will tell Joy. Doesn't seem to be as good as last year for sure
