Remember this from the early eighties. In my neck of the woods (Germany) this was a expensive top class deck
for nearly 2k DM back then. Today its a rather rare deck and again very expensive if fully serviced and functional.
You reviewed the top integrated amp of this series of Pioneer components a year ago. Which is meanwhile also
rather rare to find in the market. The SX8 you reviewed some months ago is also part of this model series i believe
was called "communication line" which were comprised of various rack systems from entry level to upper middle/top class.
The most rare component of this series is the turntable PL-9 imho.
Not all models were available in every market. I believe the big receiver models were US market exclusives.
Anyway,i always enjoy your reviews. Your channel is one of the very few who actualy produces data and present measurements.
Old style, down to earth reviews. Great.

Wow- thanks so much for the info and compliment. I just finished testing a Nakamichi Dragon and could purchase it for a reasonable price, but the CT9R does an outstanding job for how I use it, plus I like the dispaly more. I am lucky to have some friends who are "audio hoarders" to provide me with material to review, such as the SX8. For whatever reason this style of Pioneer is not as sought after, but that may change sometime, though these can be a real bear to repair. I know that data part can be a bit boring, but at least you can see how things perform after all of these years.....

I thought the Dragon sounded better. The deck in the video stopped working about a month ago and would just play very, very fast. I have other cassette decks and so I sold it for parts rather than trying to repair it. Thanks for the comments!

You will have to wait about a month or so for my review on the Nakamichi Dragon to come out. I do like this deck, as well as my Pioner CTF950. I do not get many cassette decks come my way these days....
