  • July 11th-12th ultralight backpacking overnight into a summit of Mount Harvard, in the Sawatch Range in Colorado. Definitely one of my favorite 14ers I have done! Managed to fit everything I needed for a 14er summit and overnight camping into my 15L running-vest style bag! Pretty happy with that!
NOTE: the drone footage from the beginning and end of the video is from OUTSIDE the federal wilderness area, where it is legal to fly. Please check the local laws and regulations before flying! I have an FAA Professional Drone License so I know where I am and am not allowed to fly!
Mt. Harvard is 14,421 feet above sea level, and is the 3rd highest peak in Colorado, which makes it the 4th highest peak in the continental US. It's an ~ 14 mile hike round trip with about 4800 feet of gain from the trailhead.

This is such a well made video; you should have way more views. Just did the Columbia Harvard traverse last weekend as well as camped overnight like yourself. It was great

Thanks mate! It would have been fun to do the traverse but the timing just wasn’t right for me. Glad you were able to do it though!

awe I am thinking of this duo. Did you hit Columbia or Harvard first?

I know it’s been a while since you’ve hiked this, but would you happen to remember around what time you left the trail head, and what time in the morning you summitted?

No worries! We left the trailhead probably around 5pm or so, camped in the Horn Fork Basin, then got up pretty early and summited before 9am, maybe even before 8am.

How sketchy is the last few hundred feet of the climb? Looks like you had trouble getting over a boulder? Minute 7:35 ?

It wasn't too bad really. The route was better to the right of that spot, for sure. Just routefinding stuff!
