I hate that Pacat made me love all those characters and then she put them against each other. I read the sneak peek of dark heir before its release and I didn't think I'd love Visander thaaaat much as I did. Despite loving all of em, I'm standing for Will cause he's the victim imo, praying for James going back to being himself on the next book

My theory regarding the collar is that Sarcean created it to protect Anharion from ever being controlled by others. And I believe it strenghtens their connection. From Will's flashbacks it didn't seem to me that Sarcean was bad. He was used by the Sun King in secret, because the Sun King could not admit to using dark magic. So, when the Sun King wanted to get rid of him, he created a story that Sarcean was evil and he reached out for help to destroy him. If anything, Sarcean was the one who was tricked. And it was only a mather of time until he fought back. But, yeah, I don't believe Sarcean was evil.
SAME and even if Sarcean was bad I think the Sun King and the Lady were worse
@@Manninglicious I agree! I believe they pushed him to react in the way that he did. And we still don't know exactly what way that was. I just re-read Captive Prince to pass the time until the next book, but that only took me a few days. 😂😂 Now I'm back to waiting. 🤭
I agree, but somehow I feel some things about the past won't be completely explained.
@@leticiamcs7 that's a possibility. We'll see! I believe James will have many answers in the begining of the book. If only the wait wasn't that long. 🙈 I expect it to be two years before the next one is released. 🥴

Dark Heir had me bouncing off the walls and I keep thinking about it since I read it two weeks ago.
Sadly I can't come up with theories about the collar, those aren't my forte! Honestly, all I can think about is seeing Will and James totally embrace their dark sides and going all out against everyone (or just them using their powers and being hot and dark). I just need more!!
Anyways, let's hold hands in these hard times while we wait for the third book 😔

thank you for making this video it encapsulates the feeling of reading this book SO WELL!!!!! it definitely feels like sarcean was made to 'play' the role of the villain rather than inherently being an evil person, and part of me thinks that even though you can't exactly call sarcean a good person (he still did messed up things), the sun kingdom are the real 'bad guys' in the story (because after all, history is shaped by the victors).
the collar feels like it was something anharion requested. it does seem to have some force of control by how the last chapter is written, but maybe the sun king was already using magic to control anharion, and the collar was the only way (well there mightve been many other ways, but they be kinky) they could overwrite it. at least that's what I think! but who knows, pacat always finds a way to blindside us no matter what theories we come up with 😂

I think the collar no just hold Anharion's memories, it upgraded James magic at the level of his past self had
And we still don’t know what really happened thousand years ago, in Will’s memories, we saw the before and after everything screwed up, the Lady and the Sun King are very suspicious to me. I don’t trust them, they might distort the truth to win this war
I would like to know what else did Marcus know about all this on his journal, it has more answers

I would LOVE it if it turned out that "James" at the end of the book wasn't really James but Anharion, returned inside James' body in the same way Visander returned in Katherine's body, with the collar being an equivalent to the sword that brought Visander back, I want this simply because it would make for such good drama lol
I won't happen of course, since we would've seen James' body die due to the White Death and in many other ways that parallel doesn't work but still, a cool thought...

I too am completely feral over this book & legit came looking for someone rambling/gushing about it so THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTS. My absolutely insane theory that I might write fanfic about: Playing off the theme of betrayal/rejection (Will being rejected by his mother and friends; Sarcean being rejected & betrayed by his lovers) Anharion agreed to the Collar (maybe even helped forge it???) to prove his loyalty. There's still an element of compulsion in the Collar, mostly in the form of their magical connection, but it doesn't make him a mindless slave, and also Anharion is just a really kinky sub who's into that. As seen by James asking Will to put the Collar on him so Will owns him (and the whole "if you want me to order you around..." thing).
Uh anyway this comment is absolutely unhinged but that's what this book does.
