So, while I am also firmly in the camp of most being annoyed by the misunderstanding trope, I don’t find obnoxious here for a few reasons. My primary reason is that Shen Yuan is not entirely wrong for not being up front about what’s going on. A, the system is a temperamental child and has told him failure means death, and he can’t exactly test if revealing the truth will go well in that regard. B, Shen Yuan knows the premise going in, he saw what the original Lou Binghe becomes and he is shoved into this role after the abuse has been going on for a not so insignificant amount of time, along with being forced to go through the Endless Abyss quest. He’s so focused on staying alive, that he does not take into consideration that he has a lot more influence on the fate of others and their perceptions of him as SSQ than he believes, never mind even thinking for a moment LB would develop feelings for him. Hell, that first punishment dream of the original ripping his limbs off only solidified his fears. Then there’s also the fact both Shen Yuan and Lou Binghe are emotionally repressed idiots incapable of process their feelings healthily, let alone expressing them. In short, both guys had a lot of growing up to do in order before the misunderstandings could be cleared

Just started a reread of the second book and came looking for content about it 😂 I can relate so kuch to waiting for books, fortunately I only recently read these books for the first time so i didn't have to wait for the second one, but waiting for the third one is my distraction from waiting for Alecto the Ninth. I'm also waiting to get Howls Moving Castle from the library, so yay for waiting for books!

I loved when Xie Lian lost his memory and Hua Cheng was teasing him!

I am obsessed with this story. I keep hoping that the author would write more in this world. In the meantime, there is fan fiction.

i actually really love angst, not misunderstandings specifically, just two characters who don't see eye to eye for a specific reason such as difference of opinion, past betrayals, generally hardships that separate the characters and they have to overcome later, so i really enjoyed the plot of this! to me it didn't exactly feel like a misunderstanding, even though that was a big part of it, but mostly two characters who formed their own behaviors and world views based on how they were treated in the past and how they were forced to act respectively, so now they can't understand the person in front of them anymore which i thought was delicious! i didn't mind that tgcf didn't have any relationship angst because the plot was bursting with it, i don't think i could have taken any more tbh 😭

Honestly I understand the misunderstanding part unlike other stupid misunderstandings. Bc 1. Sqq literally betray lbh no warning after telling him that demon aren’t evil. Not to mention one punishment scene where he experience his arm and leg being rip off. Yeah if I was a transmigrstor I would assume the og course follow bc I still betray him. Not to mention he still abuse lbh only if it was in the beginning. Honestly as a person I can honestly tell you I don’t realize how much ppl love me as well. So sqq not realizing lbh affection like me an occasional dumbass. Then lbh being menacing as hell forcing his blood onto sqq choking him. Like wtf. 2. Lbh mentally unstable with xin mo the sword that literally need hundred of women and bloodshed . And sqq literally like that Katy Perry song your hot then your cold your yes then your no. Like dude send mix signal. Like before abuses him. Then act semi cold then go aww my sweet little sheep. Not his fault but from an outside perspective really confusing. Like the emotional whiplash. Then being super traumatized and wanting answer which sqq can’t give. After being stabbed by his teacher and toss into hell. Like their romance work bc they are such simp for each other. Lbh forgive anything his shizun does as long as he can have him and sqq a major lbh apologist. Also I highly doubt with the option to tell the truth sqq would . Maybe but I feel like he the type of guy to take it to the grave. Love sqq can go from cold immortal to petty drama queen

I bought this cause I saw it T Walmart and enjoyed the art style. Never thought it was a gay romance novel. Oh well just have to wait for the 3 volumes to arrive.

I’ve read all MXTX series but the SVSSS series….. I started it but never even finished the first chapter. lol. Also, something somewhat funny when I went to start reading MDZS. I only read the first sentence before stopping for like a month or so before continuing & finishing it.

i just love the whole dialogue they both have when hua cheng is fading away, i've read that part so many times that it is almost embarrassing also, if you liked that scene you should watch this one storyboard that was posted on yt of it, it's beautifully made and captured all of the emotion of this part of the book other scene i really love is in the ending of the first extra chapter (245) where xie lian is having some time alone in the ghost city and there were this festival going on, one that he used to pass with his parents, and he didnt quite remember how it felt until he reunited with hua cheng in the end bc hua cheng is his family now, that was so sweet to me

I would LOVE it if it turned out that "James" at the end of the book wasn't really James but Anharion, returned inside James' body in the same way Visander returned in Katherine's body, with the collar being an equivalent to the sword that brought Visander back, I want this simply because it would make for such good drama lol I won't happen of course, since we would've seen James' body die due to the White Death and in many other ways that parallel doesn't work but still, a cool thought...

OMG i love just all the scenes where they interact, but also that one were they are inside the mountain gardian (i think) and Xie Lian picks up a venemous bone and he´s just like, i´m inmune to poison by this point so no problem, but Hua Cheng says, please if you see someting dangerous or strange don´t touch it, that you don´t die it doesn´t mean it doesn´t hurt, so don´t touch it. And then Xie Lian use uno reverse and says, then you don´t touch it neither, we both won´t touch it. AHHHHH I JUST LOVE HOW THEY PROTECT AND CARE FOR EACH OTHER.

When I discovered MDZS, it was before the books were officially published. I think The Untamed had just started airing, but I didn’t know anything else. I found a fan translation and idk something took over my body because 3 days later I was finished reading after binging it and my whole brain chemistry was rewritten. The moment Lan Wangji shoves Wei Wuxian against the god damn tree blindfolded and makes out with him was 👏 like this boy said to himself “I will make you forget every other kiss you’ve ever had” while Wei Wuxian is like “my virgin lips will never experience anything better than this!!!” Like how dumb are these two? How dumb and perfect? The smartest, brightest, most talented minds of their generation and they are also the dumbest boys to ever share one brain cell. The bath tub scene is so iconic, though. RIP that bath tub because it died for WangXian Rights.

I just read Dark Heir and I can’t stand with this ending 😭 I know the feeling Will and James deserve to be happy, I think the collar no just hold Anharion's memories, it upgraded James magic at the level of his past self had And we still don’t know what really happened thousand years ago, in Will’s memories, we saw the before and after everything screwed up, the Lady and the Sun King are very suspicious to me. I don’t trust them, they might distort the truth to win this war I would like to know what else did Marcus know about all this on his journal, it has more answers Sorry, I had to get all my feelings out with this book xD

Yes, SVSSS is a must if you like MXTX because that's the eldest child lol I think why SVSSS is so loved by the fandom despite the flaws is because it call out the problematic aspect of Chinese Stallion novel loved by men. The supposed to be romantic scenes in Stallion novel are turned into problematic scenes in SVSSS because if you try to see it in reality's lens where powerful masculine man get all the ladies and a forced intimate scene in do or die situation, it is not romantic at all. SVSSS is like Luo Binghe and Shen Yuan's journey of embracing their emotional side as a man which is facing their feelings and let go of their toxic masculinity. If you want a danmei couple with good communication, I highly recommend Stars of Chaos by Priest.
