Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I am having difficulties with apparently simple things in FreeCad.
For example, I was not able to change the size of a wall. Fortunately I found your video and, now, I can change the size of a wall.
    Your approach is great.
    Best regards.

I realize my version of FreeCad might be different than yours, but I've done my best to copy what you're doing second by second. When I click on a starting point, I get the dialog about the wall like you're describing. The line visually appears as thick as yours, until I left click on the second point. Then it stops drawing the wall, and shows me a big white box that takes exceeds the top and bottom of the grid. I'm in the Arch workbench, using CAD navigator, Linux FC33 and FC 0.19. My perspective is top. If I try to click on the wall, it asks gives me all the properties about the wall that could be changed, except the useful ones like length, height and width. I then realized my grid was in MM, so I changed it to the 1m like you have. It works better, but you'd better not make any mistakes because it's very hard to shorten a wall length.

How do you change the units in wall function
My free cad is displaying hight in inches and length of wall in yards

Can you add some text in a text block in Draft? I want to take some text from excel or word and import it into Draft Freecad. I want to print out the drawing and the text.

Hi Eklavaya. I have tried many variations to understand how this system of CAD works, spending many many hours frustratingly trying to just get past go, but to no avail. I can't even work out how to set up the grid so that I can plot points using the combo view 'task' window. I have been using the arch workbench as it is a 2D plan I am trying to draw. My problem is that when I set down a 'grid', using a scale of 4 decimals so that I can draw to a scale in metres, no matter what I do the 'local axis point' is in the centre of the grid. the problem with this is that , for example, if I simply draw a rectangle on the grid, then I have no way in plotting any further points accurately afterwards because I have no idea where, or how to locate/plot that new line. If I want to plot that new line in relation to the original rectangle, and for example it needs to be 3400mm along the wall, and 3800 long, then trying to locate and plot that line in the task window is virtually impossible because all the plots are based of that local axis point, so that pint where that new line needs to start may be 2969 to the left, and 1957 to the top of that local axis point. Also the curser on my screen is located up and to the left of the starting point of any new line, so there is no real way of judging where your new point will actually be other than using the 'snap' tools. I know that I can correct the original rectangle say from 9628 x 16382, to 10.000 x 15.000m using the the combo view, but to go on and plot the internal walls or anything else , I simply cant understand how its done, nor find any tutorial that explains why the local axis points are set out the way they are. it just doesn't make sense to me. I have been trying with this free cad for weeks and I have got nowhere with it. I just cant understand how anything works. I dont understand the language of it. if you have a tutorial that explains how to start and why the axis points are set out the way they are would be really helpful. thanks for baring with me.

Eklavaya. I have just gone around the exterior of the floor plan walls, one single line at a time but when I click on the 'wall' tool, what happens is that the corner of the walls that should be 'square' like any normal wall are a 'step' shape. As one wall over laps the other but only half way through so there is a section on each corner of wall that is over lapped, and a section that is missing. I dont understand how this thing works. Every single step I take is a dead end which I am unable to find any resolution to. I have been trying to figure this free cad out for weeks, many hours each day, and I am no further in even the first step of laying out a simple floor plan.

Hello! Don´t know if this is normal, but I don´t have the "mirror" option at Draft (in Arch workbench). Is there a way to download it?

Did you try from the top menu, click Draft then select Mirror.

@@EklavyaSelfLearningTutorials Yeah, thank you! It worked (: You know, you are really good at this. Why don´t you try doing a chopper frame. It´s like the structure of a motorcycle. You´ll absolutely rock with that, it would help a lot of people (including me) that are looking for someone to explain how to do that to make it in real life too (the frame build). I´ve search a lot in youtube and on the internet, and there is no one who do that on FreeCAD. I can send you the blueprints with the instructions if you want. Thanks again for what you do, bro (:

Hi. Please, can you tell us, what version you working with? Now I use version 0.15 and also I am not able to follow you, because my program do those operation, what you explain, different way. I am newbee in freecad, therefore I need to know this. Many thanks.

I down loaded this program and following your steps but my program is not doing what you are.
I go to arch then set up tool bars. Click on wall go to the grid and try to draw a line like you and my program wants to draw a line from top of grid to bottom of grid the length of the line I make.

I didn't understand the meaning of 'top of the grid to the bottom of the grid'. Kindly elaborate your problem clearly.

tegf4, I suspect "snaps control options" or "make sure you are setting your working plane right"
