You hit it out of the park and I am thrilled that we are on the same page on these two. The Eau de Parfum is to me so close to my beloved Pour Monsieur. The first fragrance I ever bought. (but you know that story) Dacob I so loved this. Thank you so much!
Thank you Lanier dear :) I discovered the eau de parfum version thanks to you! Till you brought it up, I thought the eau de toilette concentree was still in production. I am glad thats not the case any more ;) xoxo
I love the Pour Monsieur Eau de Toilette so I am very excited to try the Eau de Parfum. A dept store I visited today had the Eau de Parfum but no tester! Great review. Thanks.
Thank you :) I hope you like it. It is different from the edt but also the same... I recognize the edt in the edp, which is a great thing for me but it can be decieving ;) xoxo
My eau de toilette bottle finally ran out so I had no choice but to repurchase the newer Eau de parfum and it was an instant love. Thank you for such a wonderful breakdown and comparison
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. 100% agree. I've just found a THIRTY YEAR OLD bottle of vintage Chanel Pour Monsieur... I'll test it out and tell you how it compares! So happy to find your channel tonight!
I appreciate the way you elaborated on the qualities of each. But more than anything, I'm glad I made the right choice in getting the eau de parfum! Thanks for the confirmation!
Hello hello, I 100percent agree with you about pour Monsieur eau de parfum it is just a masterpiece, since you know by now that I am a little older than you, I used to have the have the concentrated version of it ! Your nose is very good , the EDP version is much much much better than the concentrated and closer to the e de toilette. I love the creaminess , greenness, it's all about Elegance, for once I can say something positive lately about Chanel !!!! It is just evergreen. Best regards to you and your intelligence.
Thank you so much Christophe! So glad you like Pour Monsieur EDP and very glad you also smell the difference between the EDP and the EDT concentree :) xoxo
Dacob, your reviews are just wonderful and l know that with these reviews you save us so much time and probably money also.Hallelujah for Super Dacob,Xoxoxo.
Thanks much for your helpful and detailed comparison! Given your comments, I think I'll have to pick up the current EDP and the current EDT spray (not the Concentree) when in France. Pour Monsieur is a masterpiece :).
Pure class, better than Platinum egoiste, and along with egoiste the best from chanel. P S it lasts 12 hours on me. I prefer this one than the toilette
Again, visiting your chanel Dacob 😁 Realy like your comparison video. I want to ask you something, did both version edp and edt concenctree had similiarity with TF Private Blend Beau de Jour? Thanks again 💪
Thank you for another good review on fragrance. You tend to use something tangible to describe the intangible fragrance. Wonderful! I also love your putting place and time element in your description. Your “matching” outfit is always fun to look at! Fragrance is so personal that it is all about how the chemicals react to the body odors. If I could express one aspect: your bottle is not the “original” PMC. It first came out with Chanel classic square bottle and black cap, then a long square bottle with grey cap (like current PM), then the current flat rectangular bottle. The older flat bottle has “EDTC” on top of “CHANEL”, the newer (before discontinued), like your bottle, has “EDTC” under “CHANEL”. I have all vintage ones, but don’t have your version. I also purchased the new EDP. I totally agree that EDTC and EDP are different. After 2000, heavy reformulations occurred to all perfumes due to stricter IFRA regulations. Oak moss, violet leaf, etc. were banned. In addition, some natural ingredients, such as rosewood, sandalwood, are on CITES endangered list, and thus are unavailable (chemical substitutes are used). The vintage PMC contains real oak moss. This important fixative rounds up all other ingredients and makes the whole fragrance smoother and grounded. To me, the vintage PMC is like a jungle. The first whiff may be spicy tree top yet the second one is earthy forest floor. On my skin, the current EDP is smoother yet flatter, less characteristic. I am sorry that the EDTC ‘bit” you! Perhaps you could try the vintage versions. Maybe they will be nicer to you (purr). Thanks again for your excellent hard work!
Hi Phil, thanks for the lovely comment. Please note that my comment on the bottle is referred to the Pour Monsieur eau de toilette concentree. The edp still has the same bottle shape as the first edtc had. I do not compare text prints on bottles but just the bottle shapes and sizes. I did not take the edt or even edc bottles in consideration is this review. Just to be clear on that ;) As for the new IFRA regulations. Yes, I am aware of them and do take them into consideration in each review I make. I might not mention it specifically within each review but I take it in consideration when I let a fragrance take me places. I have had the original formulation of the eau de toilette concentree and it also bit me. Its too agressive for my skin. I do not get the earthy bottom on second whiff... but the "flatter" aspect of the eau de parfum that you mention is actually what I love about it. Its what smells a little bit like the original EDEN by Cacharel... strange but that element makes me want more and more of the edp :) To some it smells cheap-ish but to me its pure sophistication done CHANEL style. xoxo
Dacob, if you are educated on what a concentree is, can you please explain that to me? I just ordered an L de Lolita Lempicka Eau de Parfum Concentree in 10 ml pen style and I can't find a lick of information about what makes the difference between a concentree and the other concentrations we know. What sort of concentration should I expect from an edp concentree? A stronger formula with higher %age of parfum oil, an extrait or pure parfum? One can wish, but this I doubt. Or, just the same formula as the edp in their standard bottles, just poured into a pen and calling it "concentree?" Help! I know you've got the answers in ya :) By the way, I trust every bit of knowledge and experience you share on your channel, so thank you for being fabulously you and oh so adorable! Xx
Thanks Tasha. Concentree should mean that the concentration at hand (wether it be EDC, EDT or EDP) is slightly higher concentrated than its usual concentration. This can mean several things. It can mean that the concentree version has more essential oils in it, that it has a higher concentration of oils in it, that it has better quality ingredients used to make it, that is has less water ratio than the non concentree counterpart and so on. We do not know for sure what a brand means today when they release a new edition of a perfume and label it EDP concentree. What it should mean is that it is a bit more intense than the regular eau de parfum and that it is less intense than a pure parfum but take this bit of information with a grain of salt since almost no perfume house really tells us the actual ratios they use for each of their concentrations. The best way is to smell the edp on one wrist and the edp concentree on the other wrist and make a comparison. Our noses never lie ;) xoxo
So wonderful to watch you and your reviews on perfumes! Although I do not know what these smell like I have an imagination of what it may be! Love the enhancing of one's own scent! We forget that we are not a part of nature. Why is our natural state often not glorified!? Leave it to sister to conjure up images of us in nature as squirrels - long lost but found like in the cartoons- we would be sitting eats some nuts happily ever after Super D! 😊😛 🐿 have a wonderful rest of the week despite how busy you are sweet pea!😘💖😘
Thank you sis! Yes we tend to forget we are inded a part of nature! I like to always remember that! :) We are the squirrels and we shall get our nuts from nature, no matter what ;) xoxo
What would you say the projection and longevity as a skin scent is for each version? I would find it hard to believe that Chanel would try to hold back on the amount of fragrance oil to save money considering how competitive the fragrance business is and the huge markup there is to begin with. I've described Chanel Pour Monsieur and recommended it in the comments area of a number of the leading RUclips fragrance reviewers but most don't seem to realize how great some of the older fragrances are. The house of Chanel has my respect because unlike a number of others, they've never sold their older scents to EA Fragrances. Keep up the reviews of the classics! Happy new year!
The concentree lasts the longest but does not develop well on my skin. Too peppery and acidy. Then second place for longevity goes to the eau de toilette. It stays very extremly close to the skin but its drydown lasts for hours. Third spot goes to the eau de parfum... I know it should technically be more intense than the edt but on my skin it lasts less that the edt. I am afraid that CHANEL is saving money. Just see what they did to their les exclusifs perfume range! Those scents were masterpieces in eau de toilette concentration that have now been discontinued in favor of the new eau de parfums (made by Olivier Polge) which use cheaper ingredients and smell in some cases too different to the originals made by Jacques Polge. CHANE of course almost doubled the price since they brought out the EDPs just to have as high prices for their exclusives as Louis Vuitton does but at the same time they lowered the quality of the fragrances! It is truly embarassing and such a stinky greedy move on their behalf! I love the classic fragrances! ALways have and always will! I alos love to see what is new on the market but there is always a special place in my heart for the classics! A lot of "big" youtube fragrance reviewers just review fragrances for the clicks and views. Some even have commercial agreements to review certain products for certain online stores and so on... So I never really trust all of them to deliver an honest opinion or to search out the fragrances they truly love because chances are they get the fragrance delivered to them and they have to make a review or similar... Not all channels are like that but many are. Happy New Year to you too! xoxo
The agreement that some reviewers have with online discounters is a fairly new happening. At least they're recognizing the power of RUclips. Without all the online reviewers, who would have know that Cuba Gold and Cuba Royal smell like Le Male and One Million, respectively, or that the Armaf line made excellent clones. I would have never known about a little gem like Van Cleef and Arpel's Midnight in Paris, so I have to give them credit. However, their inability or refusal to discuss the lines of distribution, how these bottles are obtained by the discounters and general apathy regarding batch codes/dates and places of purchase is where I differ. It's disheartening to hear that the EDP is weaker than the edt concentree when one would assume the edp is a powerhouse. The only place to find the edt now is at a few online discounters, and I try to avoid them for any fragrance over $45 or so. I'd rather spend the extra money and buy a new bottle directly from the manufacturer or from a major dept. store. In this case, that's not possible so one would have to put up with possibly getting a 2 years or older bottle and not knowing how it's been stored or how many times it has changed hands. An older bottle is not necessarily a bad thing but it could be problematic if it's been transferred from retailer to retailer because of liquidation, and suffered through several UPS or Fedex trips in their non-climate controlled vehicles during summer heatwaves. Knowing all this, would you take the Edp or take a chance on a new bottle of the edt concentree from a discounter?
I would not repurchase the edt concentree for myself. I like the edp so I would repurchase it again. The difficult thing is to find the simple eau de toilette because many countries do not sell it any longer. If you liek the edp, I would start with that one because it is easy to find at CAHNEL counters directly. I would go from there and see if I like the edp. Then I would keep an eye out for second hand websites for the eau de toilette.... if the price is low enough I would risk it and order it and see how I like that. As for the concentree... there have been both edt and edc concentrees... both have been discontinued so it is getting harder to find.
I like both. Th EDT is the actual oiginal from 1955 so I prefer that one for heritage reasons but also because I love its somewhat slight powdery drydown.
Super Dacob thanks for getting back to me. I loved the edt buy it lasted an hour on my skin. Unfortunately I haven't seen the Edp version in a shop for me to try. Thanks again
The EDT stays very close to the skin. Its intended to be that way. Like a cologne that a person can reaply at their convenince especially in very warm weather. Its by no means an overpowering fragrance. In the 50's the understated scent was a symbol of elegance. The EDT does not last powerfully long on anybody's skin for that reason. The EDP is slightly longer lasting but also settles down very close to the skin after a while.
Great comparison! I agree that the EDT Concentree has a synthetic note to it, which is why I never bought it and opted for the EDT. I'm pissed about the oakmoss ban which has GUTTED a lot of classic scents such as Pour Monsieur. I've worn this scent since the 80's when it was amazing--now not so much.
You hit it out of the park and I am thrilled that we are on the same page on these two. The Eau de Parfum is to me so close to my beloved Pour Monsieur. The first fragrance I ever bought. (but you know that story) Dacob I so loved this. Thank you so much!

Hi MrSmelly, Have you tried the other versions of Pour Monsieur since this video launched? I'm curious, I can only sample the EDT and the concentrée
My eau de toilette bottle finally ran out so I had no choice but to repurchase the newer Eau de parfum and it was an instant love. Thank you for such a wonderful breakdown and comparison
The cool thing is, you're always tuned in to the latest news, while others are slow to notice or give importance. Keep up the work.
Thanks Roger! xoxo
You have such a talent of dissecting each scents complexity.. 👌
Btw, compliments on your wardrobe choice to go with the bottles! 💙✨
Thank you so much dear! You noticed the wardrobe choice ;) haha! I love it! xoxo

I need to see this rn. Looking at a vintage concentree 👀
Still feel the same way
I have to tell you that this is your best hairstyle I've ever seen😁

Thank you Neo :) Yes, Pour Monsieur is a masterpiece! I second that completely! Its tmeless elegance in a bottle! xoxo
Great one. I'm buying my husband the EDP
I am sure he will love it! Its super classy and edgy still today :) xoxo
Great review of the two. Much appreciated!
Thank you :) Glad you enjoyed my review.
Pure class, better than Platinum egoiste, and along with egoiste the best from chanel. P S it lasts 12 hours on me. I prefer this one than the toilette
For lovers of vintage perfumes I can only recommend the concentrated eau de toilette.
Nonetheless very good review

No, I still prefer the original eau de toilette the most. I do love the EDP as well but it is different.
Hello! Great review. Is the EDP stronger in sillage and longevity than the regular edt? Thanks!
Dorf hell yes, has great longevity but medium projection.....
I want the Eau de Parfum.
Class in a botle
Pour monsieur edp and egoiste are my fav also

good job,i want to try it...
Thank you!

hey Lacey :) How are you sweetie? Big hug!
I'm doing okay! Hope you are too!
Thanks Lacey :) Yes, I am doing good too. A lot of work but holding strong!
How the f*** does the edp beat egoiste!!???
Oh and btw just tell me if im sending too many comments
the edp of Pour Monsieur beating Egoiste? Or did you mean Egoiste Platinum?
Super Dacob you said that the edp pour monsieur beats egoiste
in its watered down formulation it might but not in its original or even in its predecessor: BOIS NOIR concentrations ;)
Super Dacob ah ok
xxxxx
