I live in Ireland and seeing videos like this makes me really appreciate what's on my doorstep. Life can get so busy here that we rarely take time to just explore our own country, which is so sad but true. I'm also a musician and travel round Ireland a lot, but unfortunately most places I go are at night time and I don't see a lot of the towns I'm working in as I usually drive home that night. I live in the republic just beside the Fermanagh border. There are a few castles up here (most are in ruins or burned during the rebellion) some were impressive places. I think its a shame that not many exist now in their full glory and preserved exactly as they were. One famous one is bunratty castle. A definate must see if you ever come back. That castle is exactly as it would have been and little of it is by restoration. Check it out on RUclips. Its a whole village
I feel the same about the USA and its residents. We get so busy, we rarely take the time to explore our own country haha I've seen 38/50 states, which is likely well above average. lol I will definitely look that castle up, it sounds awesome. I gotta come back asap to drink some beer and whiskey!
I really enjoyed this Lincoln 😊 the castles look beautiful...some of those steps looked crazy!!! good for you kissing the Blarny stone...may good wishes follow you ☘️ 🇮🇪
If you were from France and you kissed the Blarney Stone would that be ..........you get it, yea i think so. Thanks for the tour guys another awesome vid.
Ireland has an old history for sure, and love seeing these old castles!! Blarney Castle is cool. The caves would be freaking amazing!!! Poison Garden.. that's crazy that it's all deadly plants!! It takes a lot to get around that castle and to the blarney stone! So cool to see this adventure and thanks for taking us with you!! Much love!
I have LOVED your Ireland videos so much Lincoln. Looks so so beautiful - I love Ireland and Scotland so much. Also side note - this was such a well put together video. I never knew you painted! I love that!! If you paint again make sure you share it - I wanna see! 💜
That might be something big I do for 2020! I take a lot of photos while traveling that would make for great paintings. I want to paint the one in this video for sure! Glad you enjoyed the video, Gina😀
I hope you get to make it there someday! They’ve got some decent flights deals from Boston-Dub if memory serves me correct. I’d def recommend renting a car if/when you go!
@@LincolnintheAdirondacks we will definitely make it is just a matter of getting all of our ducks in a row. And thank you very much for the information and we would definitely Rent a car.
We really enjoyed this! You did an impressive job showcasing the castles and giving us some history on each one. I think I would have passed on kissing the Blarney Stone!😂
Lincoln Riddle it was good as it saved us from having to do our own history homework. This was in 2011 so I couldn’t tell you how much it was nor the names of the castles and sites we visited. Definitely wished we had more than 2 days there. But, the exciting part was when we got home, we saw in the news that the hotel we stayed at in Belfast was bombed lol
My wife and I love castles and we have visited a few on the west side of Ireland and they are lovely too. Thank you for sharing your experience with the castles. When you got to the stone did Holly still refuse to kiss the stone hehe
And as a side note. Theres a sister castle to Blarney castle about 10 miles away in Dripsey. It's not open to the public but of you ever want the opportunity to take some nice reference photos for landscape painting, the view of dripsey castle in front of the water is one of the prettiest you'll see.
You drove from Dublin to Kilkenny to Cork? You mentioned the trip, at times, taking over an hour to get from one place to another etc...but, did you stay in Kilkenny overnight since theres lots to see and then drove to Blarney the next day? Or did you do Kilkenny and Blarney in one day and stayed in Cork overnight? I'm thinking of doing something like this in the future but didn't know if I should stay overnight in Kilkenny and Cork or make it a day trip for both.
I’m always left in awe when we visit these castles. There’s so much history I them and to think about what they’ve been through over hundreds of years... it’s wild! Have you visited any castles?
Minard Castle is where the Antarctic explorer Tom Crean joined the Royal Navy. He ran a pub in Annascaul up the road from Minard after he retired. Guinness also featured him in an advert a few years back. Look him up. He led an amazing life.
@@LincolnintheAdirondacks honestly it was a pleasant surprise to see my country in the eyes of a traveller gives a new perspective. Where are you from your self Lincoln?
Hey Patty! Thanks for watching. I was there in September of 2019. This is a glamping pod on the Dingle Peninsula. I actually made a video on it. I’ll link that on a separate comment. Pronunciations were pretty much perfect. You pronounced kilkenny as "kilkinny"......and that's pretty much how a lot of irish people will pronounce it. Side note.i had never heard of chipotle sauce when I first went to America years ago. The guy in subway in new Mexico thought my arseways pronunciation was the funniest thing he had ever heard.
We were there in late September. We left EWR on a Saturday night, arrived in Dublin early Sunday morning and then left the following Sunday. I’ve still got 3 more Ireland videos to post haha just have been really backed up with travel recently. In the next few weeks, once Ireland is finally done, I’ll have a video on the KY Bourbon Trail.
@@LincolnintheAdirondacks HAH! Good times. We have our Bourbon Trail Passport. Still plenty to get to. We live here so not in a huge hurry. :) Thanks for the info!!
Irish place names usually emphasise the second syllable over the first so you have Kil-KENNY or Ken-MARE or Kill-ARNEY.

I’m sorry... I tried my best :/
Your pronunciation of Kilkenny needs a little work, just follow the guys from South Park, "Kill Kenny" :-)
