Here's How: "The Man With the Green Thumb" by Tommy Emmanuel

- Songwriter and singer Tommy Emmanuel is best known for his complicated fingerstyle techniques and fascinating performances. Over his incredible career as one of the best guitarists in the world, he developed relationships with many other instrumentalists, including his mentor, the great Chet Atkins.
Emmanuel was 7 years old when he first reached out to Atkins with a fan letter, and he was stunned to find a response from his idol a few weeks later. This was the beginning of a lifelong relationship between the two guitar greats. Shortly after Mr. Atkins passed away in 2001, Emmanuel wrote a tribute to him titled "The Man With the Green Thumb," a track that would appear on Emmanuel's 2004 album, Endless Road.
Here Mr. Emmanuel shows off his singular fingerpicking style as he shares the complicated introduction to the song.

For all the people moaning about this, if you can’t follow, you’re not ready for the song. Get the foundations set before you build the house, otherwise everything ends up sloppy lol. There’s lots of good videos on here that do Travis picking basics and other finger style songs that will help you build your foundations. These days I learn songs by ear, or maybe watching somebody play, but I used to watch a lot of instructional dvds and they were really useful.
We have all been blessed to be around you as well TE, least I know that I have. My beautiful Father gave me tickets to go see you at the Balboa Theatre and my life just got better. I wish my friend would have wanted to stand in line to meet you as I would have waited hours for a minutes introduction.

I am Kyle Teels nephew. He was Chets best friend growing up in mountain hill Georgia. He mentioned my uncle in an interview calling him a hero. He used to come to our family reunions until my uncle passed. I was to young to realize who he was . He was just a humble down to earth country gentlemen.it was nice to hear your reference to Chet. Mission accomplished: I enjoyed that! I think my favorite thing about Tommy's incredible playing is how lyrical, funky and swinging it is. The man knows how to get a groove going all by himself in so many styles of music.

I got to spend some 1 on 1 time with tommy in Tennessee for about a month we got to know each other and he is such a great guy as well as an amazing guitar player. Whenever he picked up his guitar he would talk about chet atkins

Hi There youngnick, I'm not sure about the actual chord names but if you take a look at MrGibbguy's tutorial of the TMWTGT he shows some different angles of the fret board which may help to show the shapes and where to put your fingers. Tommy is a great tutor but sometimes what's obvious to him isn't obvious to us!

Probably not. That’s why it’s better to slow down the videos of people playing songs you want to learn. The song will be way more accurate and it will make you a better guitarist

No Guitar Center near me even carry/stock/sell Acoustic guitars that sound/play so sweet(not on a bet)...............& on an unrelated note, you can't even buy loose picks anymore, as to 1st examine the thickness springiness etc. Just huge sealed packages. They're doing so many basic things wrong.......NOT a fan......good thing we still got 48th st !
