Im a DIRfloortime therapist and this video was extremely raw and helpful for me to learn from and tweak some things in my future! so thank you so much! I agree that the goals seem vague, but the therapist is for sure following a “learning tree” plan and working on each sense, or developmental skill slowly but surely. Please keep us updated!
Hi! I think the end game or goal for DIR Floortime is just to get your little one to enjoy other people and their company and to learn basic skills like requesting through a very relaxed and fun activity. Although ABA, for example, can be more structured and feel more focused on goals it is something the child learns as a lessons, the way he or she would learn the order of the letters in the alphabet. It would be automatic more or less. This way, though play, Leah will learn the same thing in a more natural way. It will also be easier to obtain cooperation from your daughter later on for more "strict" or parent led activities in the future if there is a connection already. I think starting these foundational skills through play is a very good strategy. This is what I did with my son. I am not a therapist but after watching hundreds of videos with home footage and therapy sessions I realised I first need a social connection and obtaining cooperation and willingness to listen and focus on me through play first. My son can now attend math and literacy activities as well. But it all started with games.
I feel confused 🫤 like all the time. We are just trying to tell it like it is because it’s not all rainbows and sunshine but there are for sure moments of rainbows and sunshine ☀️
We have evaluation for my twins this Thursday and the other twin the following Thursday it’s been a long wait. I gave talked to a few moms that gave seen huge improvement with ABA as far as skill and speech but completely understand trying it all to see what works for you.
It can be such a long wait its crazy! Glad its finally coming up for you! We are not against trying ABA in the future if we can find the right fit and also funding for it since its so expensive
@@thatdailymama I am hopeful my insurance covers everything but I completely understand and I think that it also depends on the therapist I’ve heard stories that were not positive and people continue to look for a new therapist or new center and they’ve had better luck
Great video, thanks for sharing! I'm currently getting my DIR Floortime Certifications and we have an OT that does sessions with my child. Did they do an Evaluation for her and let you know what developmental capacities your child is still developing? If not, there is a Functional Emotion Developmental Capacities Chart that can be filled out by your therapist. This really helped me understand where my child was at and what goals we were working towards in our Floortime Sessions. All the best!

Glad it was helpful! We should have more updates soon but we are struggling to access therapy

Just found your channel. Loving the realness, totally understand you with the goal setting. It’s so hard to figure it all out.

Brilliant! Bubbles, bubbles bubbles! Love it!
One of her favourite activities now!!
I think that’s why we have an OT that’s also DIR certified so there is more rigid goals

You don't understand ONE THING about what DIR Floortime is. Seriously.. do better to even understand what the duck you're doing.
