  • AUTISM MAMA VLOG #9: I've been thinking about the many mom's that are concerned about their babies having autism. Since it's Autism Awareness month, I'd like to bring awareness to this topic if I could help in any way. EVERY child with autism is different so if you don't see these specific signs, it doesn't necessarily mean they don't or do have autism. PLEASE follow-up with your pediatrician!

I am so thankful to have come across your channel. My granddaughter is almost 13 months and a lot of the traits I have heard you discuss here makes me think of her. I definitely think she needs to have a Autism test. My grand does not crawl or if she does it is barely. I am not used to this kinda thing-my first child walked at 9 months. Thank you for sharing your story.

My son is one year and eight months old. I’m finally analyzing his past behaviors and some now that I found could be related to autism. It’s hard for me to decide when or if he should be evaluated if he does in fact reach his milestones even though some are a little later than others.

Hi Sierra! I do hope you decide to have your son evaluated! Even with milestones, I think it'll be better safe to know now than later. It's never too soon to express concerns. I hope we do help someone with our videos.. even helping ONE autistic person or even ONE family is more than I can ask for! I'm not sure I've ever would have this strength without talking to other autism families and persons so I'm forever grateful.

My son is 18 months and the only ones he’s had is word regression. He used to say mama and ball before he was 1 but now when he talks you can hear the words but he doesn’t really open his mouth. We’re working on starting speech therapy now. Just curious what your thoughts are? His dr said she thinks he’s just speech delayed.

@@balancingautismwithMax omg , well thank you for responding. And I just wanted to let you know that I did not mean my comment to be disrespectful or rude in any way. I was just wanting to tell her that a child's delay in talking or even speaking words clearly does not always mean they are autistic, it does not mean that there is something wrong with you child.
See , the problem today is parents won't let babies and children to be just that. Parents today will analyze each and every part of their child and they want to nit pick each and every little sound their child makes at which point they take their child to the child's doctors and they tell the doctor whats going on thinking there is something wrong.
Nowadays you will see a mother or a father taking their child to the doctors and if that doctor does not tell the mother or the father what they want to hear then they will go from doctor to doctor until they find 1 who will tell them what they wanna hear and its sad.
I also would like to make a comment /statement ok.....
PARENTS STOP TRYING TO GIVE YOUR CHILD DISEASES, STOP TRYING TO FIND SOMETHING WRONG WITH THEIR BRAIN 🧠 STOP TRYING TO FIND SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOUR CHILDREN AND JUST STOP AND TAKE A STEP BACK AND JUST LET YOUR CHILDREN BE CHILDREN.
HAVE ANY OF YOU PARENTS STOPPED TO THINK THAT MAYBE THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR CHILD.
OK SO I AM NOT SAYING THIS TO ALL PARENTS BC YES , SOME OF YOU DO HAVE CHILDREN WHO ARE ON THE SPECTRUM OR WHO DO HAVE SOME OTHER ISSUES.
BUT WHAT I AM SAYING IS JUST PLEASE STOP TAKING YOUR CHILD TO THEIR DOCTOR IN THE HOPES THAT THE DOCTOR WILL DIAGNOSE THEM WITH ADHD , OR AUTISM. LET YOU CHILDREN BE CHILDREN. AND IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOU CHILD MAY HAVE AUTISM THEN THATS FINE.
BUT STOP TRYING TO ALWAYS YOUR YOUR CHILDREN SICK. CHILDREN DO CRAZY THING SOMETIMES AND THEY WILL TELL YOU IF AND WHEN SOMETHING IT WRONG. BUT GEEZ JUST LET YOUR CHILD BE. ALSO , WHEN EVER YOU START TAKING YOUR CHILD TO DOCTORS AND THEY POKE AND SQUEEZE YOUR CHILD THEN YES THE DOCTORS GOING TO THINK THEY ARE CRYING BC THE LIGHTS ARE TO BRIGHT OR YOUR CHILD IS HAVING SENSORY ISSUES WHEN THEY ARENT AND THEY JUST DONT LIKE THE DOCTORS.
I FEEL LIKE PARENTS TODAY WANT THEIR CHILD TO BE AUTISTIC WHEN THEY DONT. BUT SOME OF THEM DO. BUT AT 1 OR 2 YEARS OLD...GEEZ PEOPLE LET THEM BE 1 OR 2 YEARS OLD.
AND I KNOW I SAID THE SAMETHING OVER AND OVER....BUT IT WAS BC I KEPT TRYING TO LOOK FOE THE BEST WAY TO EXPLAIN WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY AND I JUST CANT FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS EXACTLY THAT IM TRYING TO EXPLAIN. LIKE I KNOW WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY BUT I JUST CANT SEEM TO GET IT OUT LOL

My second baby is almost 3 months. His grandma constantly talking about him avoiding eye contacts, but I never really get into it. Yesterday I realized she was right. I looked into his video as younger baby, and yes. He was always looked at left or right, or up, but never really into my eyes, even my face. Plus not following moving objects. I'm so worried.
My hugs to you and all momma with their special kids. I surely will look at his development, giving him stimulation, but after all I will love him no matter what, just like you all do.

My son did the same when he was 3 months old. He was really good at making eye contact at 2 months but not when he was 3 months. He still avoided eye contact whenever he felt like until he was around 6 months old. I was worried and now noticing every single red flag. He is now 10 months old. He says a lot of words. He points, makes good eye contact, learned a lot of gestures and copies everything we do. He started responding to his name by 6 months old.
So I would say it’s too soon to be worried. Just enjoy your time with him. Play with him a lot. Make good memories.

Have to say that I expected something completely different from this video. Currently have 2mo old and if this were my child I wouldn’t be racing to diagnose autism and would just chalk it up to her personality especially under 1? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Seems awfully young.
Perhaps I have personal experience too since when I was a toddler family tried to race to diagnose me and then had a teacher try to diagnose ADD. I never was autistic nor had ADD. Also, it really bothered me as an adult that my parents tried to have me diagnosed when there was nothing wrong. They made all kinds of assumptions about my cognitive abilities and told family and friends. 🤦🏼‍♀️ How embarrassing it was when suddenly I grew up and held a job, went to school (a regular school), went to college and even had a family of my own and all those folks were shocked. Like they expected me to have trouble or not be able to live a normal life? 🙄
If the child is hitting milestones, why does there need to be a label aside from just letting a baby be a baby?

    • @balancingautismwithMax
      @balancingautismwithMax  3 года назад +13

Hi there! Thanks for commenting! It's important for people to understand what we about on our videos. There's a large autism community but that does not mean we're all on the same page. So here is my view on "autism" thus far. (With my son being 4, he and I learn more about each other every single day.. and I'm always open to learning, especially from other autistics but I know you have mentioned that you are not.) I have posted videos on things I actually have learned not to do anymore. Learning is constant.
Autism is not - 'not normal'. Autistics are perfect humans, he's still my son and the love I have for him is unmeasurable. I know you're not "going there", but my point is - a diagnosis does not define my son or any autistic. He was still a baby and I enjoyed every moment of it. If any parent perhaps has a feeling of autism with their young baby, as I've come to learn that many mom's do, it is true that this it is a constant "worry" inside our gut. We can't help it, but I personally enjoyed every moment and let him "be a baby". He's autistic, and he's perfect in my eyes.
I'm giving information of my own son and what was observed. That said, for those of you reading, these signs do NOT necessarily mean your child is autistic. However, my son DID display these signs. Regardless, enjoy your baby as much as possible. Diagnosis or not, you will love them, if not EVEN more! :)
If you remember one thing from this message, please let it be that autism is a SPECTRUM, no one autistic is the exact same. If you have met one autistic person or person with autism (which ever you prefer to say), you have met only ONE. Thank you again, Kathaleen, for your comment.
      Yvette & Max
p.s. Many autistics go on to get married, have kids, get a degree, have a career, etc. Let's not underestimate this.

You know alot of people don't put their babies down on to crawl so why would they? If you don't play with your baby talk to them then how will they learn. Alot of parents have their heads in their phones so that doesn't help. Or they put them in daycares where they start in a crib and stay in it except for a scheduled diaper change or timed feeding. By the time they get home to their parents home the parents are tired and just do the bare minimum to make it another day.

My eldest son walked at 8 months talked in full at 12 months read Lord of the rings age 6 and was classed all his school days as gifted. But at 15 he almost went into burnout. Hes struggled with life since then and is now 36. He has always eaten loads and been very active but he has had times of challenge and behavioural concerns. Extremely musical and can play any instrument he wants without effort. Talented actor too so all these things balance out.I love him to bits but wish as a young mum back then all these reources were about.

I would definitely bring it up to your sons pediatrician, while it also depends on the age of your son.. they usually say to “monitor” him until he’s at least 2 for a diagnosis. I didn’t care to monitor because I felt like I “knew”. Take the extra steps and go with your “gut” on this one! Trust your instincts. 💜

Are you Filipina or Vietnamese? I’ve seen a huge increase in south East Asians but specifically those 2 ethnicity’s being diagnosed with Autism. We are starting the process of getting my son tested and everyone else there is Filipino or Viet. I’m Mexican and I have about 15 nieces and nephews my sons age and non have “autism issues” but my wife is Filipina and a cousin is married to a Viet and both of our kids display signs of autism. Any correlation that you have found? Limited research I have done shows American and European testing of birth controls and other medicines for human trials in those countries have led to a rise. Interestingly enough, I don’t know if in those counties they’re not being tested, but it seems to only affect them when they’re here in the USA or Europe. Only other correlation that has been potentially found is the mother’s birth control. If she was on it for many years a minimum of 3 years is needed to clear out the BC leading to potential autism complications.
I personally think it’s been vaccines. Too many at once. That was my thought so with my second son we have stretched when he gets vaccines, only 1 per visit and he, so far, is almost lapping my older one in everything, words, communication, comprehension and potty training, and he’s 1, two years younger.

Don’t tout nonsensical opinions as risk factors for autism. Race does not play a factor. Vaccines ABSOLUTELY do not cause autism. What have been found to be risk factors are older parents (especially dad), positive siblings and gender (males more than females).

4 months old is still too young to respond to her name. Responding to name is more likely 6 months + milestone. And remember guys…babies don’t really know they are their own person untill 2 years old. They respond to a familiar sound that happens with social engagement- aka their name.

What's different now than say 20 years ago? Dating sites exposure access infedility......and 1 in 50 kids with autism.
Bacterial infections such as tetanus, sepsis, strep and syphilis have alot of the same behavioral symptoms as Autism. Why do they have an unhealthy gut to begin with? Maybe a bacterial infection was there since birth....
Syphilis causes brain eye ear teeth skin(excema) bone defects. Unfortunately being pregnant it creates false negatives called the hook effect. Too many antibodies from mom and baby can't be detected with standard testing methods. It can be acquired by eating or drinking after someone, kissing, sneezing and hereditarily. It has the ability to mutate our genes so it basically goes unnoticed and disseminates quickly in children to the organs instead of lingering in the blood. So no a simple blood test won't work, if you can even get a doc to agree to one. This is probably why now we are seeing multiple children in families with autism, it never got treated while pregnant.
Unfortunately if the symptoms are subtle, doctors would rather call it Autism than a possible STD while pregnant. $$$$
I'd like to see a study with autistic children being treated with penicillin to see if it has any effect. Good luck.
If you don't believe me, here's a pediatric infectious disease doctor claiming the facts

      @@veronicavillanueva9282 both.
since it has the ability to mutate/damage/clone the Y chromosome, these damaged Gene's can be passed down. they are more subtle or show up later on.
if you have an infection while pregnant it will look like gestational diabetes, (syphilis also causes diabetes) or group b strep, and the defects might be more severe when born, miscarriages stillbirth etc
