It’s hard to beat an E53. Price, looks, practicality and - these days, rarity. I’m in the uk with a 4.6 and it stands out from the crowd. At the moment I’m driving several hundred miles across the uk each week to se my dad and on the journeys I may see 1 or 2 other E53’s. I agree also that prices will go up.
Yeah still to this day such a great car. Pick my e53 up this weekend only the 3L Diesel. Such nice cars. Coming from a E90 330d. It's such a nice change of vehicle to drive. Also in the UK.
@@johnduffy7380 I'm happy with it so far, insurance was a bit more expensive the the E90 330D but nothing too mad. Mpg isn't great but that's to be expected from a vehicle that weights around 2.2ton and is constant 4wheel drive. Around town about 23mpg but duel carridgeway or motorways I'm seeing 36mpg.
I sold my 3.0D cheap, in October 2022 just before the MOT was due, as it didn't feel right when i was driving it. Turns out it needed a fair bit of money spending on it. Just seen it up for sale so going to look at it, at the weekend... all the issues have been fixed and it's £100 more than I sold it for.
@@23srdjan no.. the seller was either an idiot or had been forced to sell it by his missus but he really didn't want to. All I got was a bunch of thumbs up, ok and yes (when messaging... he didn't just give me random thumbs ups face to face)... whenever I asked a question. So I accidentally bought a Cayenne 4.5 V8 instead
I have been a BMW bigot since 1980 when I bought new the 320 IS. drove it til 1998 only replaced a clutch under the warranty. regular oil changes and tune ups to 265,000 miles. Guys would stop me to talk about the car. My wife thought it should be a convertible and backed under a tractor trailer which was its demise. still running well. I added in a 1988 735i which was an animal, drove for over 200,000 miles until my son wrapped it around a bend in the road. Added in a 2001 X5 4.0 that snapped your head back. my son wrapped it around a tree in 2008 with 175,000 miles on it and he walked away without a scratch. added in the twins 2006 X5s 3.0 currently 195,000 and 264,000 and still going. I have driven over one million miles in BMWs, Great cars. They covered NYC, Long Island beaches and Vermont ski slopes. Can't say enough praises for BMWs until 2006. I am slowing down at 73.
I own a BMW x5 2005 e53 4.8is, only 98k recorded miles! Recent conversion to LPG, and boy does it run sweet! Probably the best used car I've ever owned!
Very nice. For uk it is very rare to have lpg conversion.I wonder why people are afraid of them too much if conversion is installed by professionals by latest safety standards.
Hi i have X4 3.0d.m video as well if you are interested and more x series coming. If you want you can subscribe to my chanel. That wil help me alot. Thanks👍💪
i own a 2006 3.0d and i love everything about this car. just one thing im lacking is a big subwoofer in the rear :D i wanna ask was the sound system difficult to install? wiring, removing all the door panels and etc.?
How does it compare to a w163 ML270 and the gen 1 Q7 diesel in terms of comfort, reliability, features, and fuel economy? Which is better, the prefacelift or the facelifted diesel e53 (is is the same engine)?
Hi.In terms of comfort and equipment Q7 is better, but it is more expensive i owned 2008 and 2012 q7 3.0TDI.More economical is 2004 2005 and 2006 BMW E53 as it is smaller car.I cannot tell you about ML270 as i never tested this car i dont like how it looks, but i tested ML 280 W164 it was lovely, but i stil prefer Q7.as it is so massive and beutiful.Hope it helps.Good luck. You can check my chabel i have reviewed these cars and more.Thanks.
Hi.The most expensive is job to do it.I dont mnow where are you located ,but in eastern europe you can ask for transmission to be professionaly restored.I guess up to 2000 euro in total.
if you are going to use this car 3-5 years or more, your variant is to restore by professionals who know this transmission very well. Otherwise I would recommend to find a donor somewhere in junkyard or after crash and just replace it. In thin case the best variant would be to find it on car that works and test it before using scanner like Reingold and by test drive. I have a problems with 6hp26 ZF with E package but the gear works fine more or less, I would drive it until it die and just will replace it from used car it's the cheapest way I think but you need to check it carefully by specialist who know it pretty good.
Hi.First i would recomend car has original milage as far as possible.Check for oil leaks as this is old car before and after long test drive.Sunroof boot lid and door handles.Gear change should be smooth not jerky with delay.Hope it helps.Preferably scan it for faults after test drive.
@@frankluxobzor7393 thanks Frank for your reply. Accordind to what you said, it looks normal care before a purchase. I read in your video that you spent 4000 euros as investment on your car; if may ask, what did you spend this money for? It's a lot!
i think he means when petrol/diesel/gas engine cars become obsolete or illegal to drive on the roads. The cull of such combustible engine cars has already started as we upgrade to more environmentally sustainable options such as EVs
