Making my E53 X5 Meaner - Lift Kit & Offroad Wheels

- Since i had my daily workhorse BMW E53 30d (for 2.5 years) i always knew i wanted to give it some attitude.. And even though i very much am a slammed flush stance guy, for this one i wanted different stance.. So stage one in this video was to get it higher in the air, with lift kit and some 17" big tires. I bought a set of vintage 17x8.5 & 17x10 two piece OZ Mito wheels, and offroad 265/65 R17 tires, rears needed 3cm spacers, to make them fit the front, and with the lift kit installed i gained 4.5cm height on front and 5.5cm in the back. I expected more from the lift kit, but i am still super happy with the overall look and stance for now :-)

maybe a little bit on the front plastic inner fender, but that might be just old and warped.. otherwise no rubbing anywhere

255/65r17 fits with no problem, maybe later I will also try 265 🤭, maybe you have info about differential, would be better with grater final drive ratio and would be easier to spin bigger tires
you should :-) sorry, I have no idea about differential ratios :-D but i dont feel that the diesel straight 6 has any issues with spinning the big tires (the fuel consumption tho that's another story :-D)
@@TheFuxxoWorksGarage did my homework, stock is 3,91, but there's 4,1 and somewhere you can find 4,444, that should fit 🤭, not only for bigger tires, but for towing it's also useful and I use trailer a lot 🤭, there's 1,2 ton tree waiting for his 200 km journey, so minimum 4,1 im interested in, but 4,444 would mean bigger tires for me, easier for gear box and transfer case also
do you have any rubbing in the front while turning?
Mean 265/65R17 looks very nice but I am a bit worry about rubbing
no rubbing at all, ever :-) that is why i went with this size, after a bit of research people that run that size said it won't rub

I have some twenty inch rims but wanted to go with same tire but obviously in a 20' will there be any rubbing while turning etc if no spacers are used?
well, it depends on size you put on them, but i dont think tires like this are made in low-profile..

exact sizes of the wheels are:

@@Jucatoze front has no spacers, only in the back. but all of that depends on the wheel width and ET..

hi! wheels were around 800-900€, and tires are austone maspire 265/65 R17, they were around 500-600€

spolahlivost je podla mna mega na take stare auto, nechala ma stat iba raz, ked odisiel alternator.. ale chce to teraz investovat do repasu celeho podvozku a par dalsich drobnosti :-)
Do you not have air suspension in the rear? I have air suspension in the rear on my x5 and am not sure how I would lift it regarding the rear air suspension?
fortunately i do not have airbags, all springs.. however, the lift kit i have on my car should 100% fit the airbag version too, since the bags are mounted in the same place like springs..
but this is way older chassis, i have no idea if there are any kits for F15, you might be the first one to do it (custom) :-D

You can double spacers, instead of one spacer you can put two and car lifts much more. 🙂🙂🙂
hah, that is true! however, i dont know how much more you can lift the independent suspension car, if the halfshafts would be okay with that, the other components, bushings, etc and whole geometry

Sorry but i myself have no idea what you have to do, not much of an adventurer myself :-D try fluidmotorunion, they are based in usa, and have (or had) a bit more upgraded offroad E53..
Whats the offset on your wheels and did you add spacers?
the sizes for the wheels are:
17x8.5 ET13
17x10 ET19
and i added 1.5 and 3cm spacers, but later i only ran 1.5cm in the back and no spacer in the front
