You have been a big inspiration and I share your material often! I am building on 45 acres. I have a camper, I am building a barn with the method you taught me (third time I used the method), and I am building a cabin! God bless. :)
Built a hoof-trimming stanchion for the goats today, based off of your design! Thrilled to have such a simple, easy system. Love your videos--keep up the good work!
pa mac i need you to know i find your channel the most valuable on youtube. i follow all the big ones and our "homestead" looks like all the videos you do. if there was a way to say thank you let me know what way you prefer!!!!
My grandma got knocked down by lightning when she went to drive the cows home. she was okay. Normally the cows came home themselves, but some days they would cross a creek, find new grass, and keep eating. They would march obediently into straight stalls. We didnt have stanchions.
I was just thinkin its about time for another video. I just uploaded a video of my newest project. Gonna build a garage here on the homestead. Maybe start my own business. God bless Pa Mac.
Why do you separate the calf from the momma cow during the night? Pa Mac, you should get a framing hammer for driving big nails. It's loads easier. Thanks for the awesome content!
I'm collecting materials to make a tiny milking barn. I will be using your design with a wall where the cow feed trough is to keep her head out of the rain. My current milking station is 4'x8' just four posts with a tin roof. The cow stays dry, but not me. Thanks for the inspiration.
@@farmhandscompanion thank you. I do understand why you use them as function, I am surpriced, that you need them. It depends on flies in your region, I suppose. :)
@@farmhandscompanion Well, I cleared an area 100' x 20' to get started. Now I need to break up the ground, add some good top soil and seaweed and plant :)
My adult cows' necks are about 7 inches wide (their heads are much wider). So at the bottom of both boards I make sure the distance is no greater than 7 inches; and at the top the "stop nail" can be driven so that the width can end up bein' a bit less than 7 inches. The chain that's used to fasten the stanchion becomes an "adjustable" device. If you have a fatter cow neck, just use the chain links that make the opening a tad wider. If you have a smaller cow, heifer, or even a calf, you can fasten the chain so that the board goes all the way to the stop nail.
Pa Mac is the reason I got my chainsaw mill! It all paid off last weekend when we used some of the red oak I milled over the winter for a chicken run. Thank you Pa Mac, you are an inspiration to many!
Great videos, looks amazing and honestly am kinda jealous. Yet i find the music very annoying. If i can give you a tip, get rid of the music and maybe do a voice over instead where you tell us what you're doing. Makes it a more calming and edicational video. Good day to you.
I really like to see the projects you're doing and been watching for quite a while but do not like the text over video format. I'd rather hear you narrate what you're doing. Heres why. I'm watching the video to pay attention to what you're doing, then I get distracted by the text, telling another important piece of information. Then I have to pause or rewind to catch it all. At the same time, my audio sense is being wasted on music instead of being able to absorb the audio and visual simultaneously. Like I said, I really like your projects but it makes to difficult to take in 2 visual parts at that same time. Thanks for sharing your work.
These type videos are so soothing.
Thank you for all your content! It helped me build my own pole barn singlehandedly. I am now even milling my own lumber thanks to you bud!
While you were sitting there at the end. I could see the wheels a turning for something new.

Just goes to show you that you don't need an expensive barn to milk and protect your cows. Great video as usual, have a great weekend everyone.
Entertaining as always, I liked the lightning special effects too :)
What a nice way to start a day. Thank you! I will hold that positive vibe through my morning hours for sure!

Nice Moooooooove........
Hey Pa thanks
50k marvelous
On my lunch break! What could be better?
Great video as always
God bless
Nice big handles, especially for a Jersey.
Man, you got me lol. Loved the beginning. ☺️🌎💫
Thank you for watchin', Dean
That opening shot haha ! Had a similar experience just today, getting the neighbors cows in and fixing fence in the rain...
Be careful. You can indeed get hit by lightning, and along a barbed wire fence?
As I've spent my youth milking Jersey cows, I wonder, why You use kick-stoppers. They are so calm and easy :)
To keep 'em from accidentally knockin' the milk bucket over when they raise and lower their back legs at flies.
@@farmhandscompanion thank you. I do understand why you use them as function, I am surpriced, that you need them. It depends on flies in your region, I suppose. :)
I'm probably going to use this when I finally get the money for a milch cow
laughed at the lightning while milking pretty hard
I love this channel
Thank you, Jennifer
Great series. Makes me want to start farming.
That's pretty much my goal, Craig. Thank you for watchin'!

@@craigglewis How is the ol' farm coming along? Overgrown with weeds?
Love it
Love your videos. How do you know how wide to make the space between center board and end board to hold the cow’s head

Are those roundhouse bibs??
How many lbs of hay does tulip go through a day? Or if you feed round bales, how fast does she and your bull go through one of those??
About 2 weeks (give or take) for 'em to go through one round bale
@@farmhandscompanion thanks!

Do you have a video on your chainsaw-mill rig? I'd love to cut some of my trees into lumber without buying a sawmill.
Yes I do, Andrew!

Thank you Pa Mac, you are an inspiration to many!
I’m curious where the mom stays if you have the calf in this barn overnight…is she just outside or you have another barn?
She's in the same pasture that she has access to during the day. Thanks for askin', chicajato
Thx! Your videos are so informative and such a delight to watch!!
You betcha, chicajato!
My wife’s nickname is also Tulip
So’s who is the jack wagon that put a thumbs down? How and why?????

I like the music, keeps me focused? Take a vote?! The drawings crack me up, funny.
Hiya
come back!
Hopefully you never need them kickers, hated milking a cow in kicker cause you knew she was gonna try you.
What is a kickstop?
Is the stanchion also a kickstop? Hopefully i get a non-kicker cow.
