It’s so much fun to upgrade a bike. Some could argue, it’s better to just buy a higher end model. But then you end up with a cookie cutter bike like everyone else. Plus there are some great deals on parts right now.
Nice man! Thought about getting a fuel ex as my second bike for quick trail rides and for my son to use for riding and doing NICA. Keep riding and have fun!
Congratz. Gen 6 fuel ex is an amazing bike. I prefer carbon frame, but this one is sick aswell. I might get Ebike version in the future if hopefully prices drop to go along with my 9.8 slash. That frame design is so sexy though. Trek always makes their bike really catchy
I’m loving this bike. Don’t miss the carbon frame one bit, but probably have a biased opinion since I just bought this 😂 I rode the EXe and loved that bike as well.
Ahhh I missed this video before commenting on the last one!! L Good on you for switching it up. I'm still enjoying my Slash. Happy for you my man!! Do I see a KTM300 in the future??!! LOL!!
Ouu. So the Fuel EX 7 will show up without tire tubes & ready to be setup tubeless? I ordered mine from a big sporting goods place (unfortunately. They were $200 cheaper than everyone else) so hopefully they can set me up right.
It shows up with tubeless valve stems and tubeless sealant. It has air in the tires and all you have to do is let the air out put in the sealant and pump back up 👍
@@JaredHoff I just hope the store I bought it from knows what they're doing, haha. They're supposed to put it together on arrival & have it ready to ride. Was there a shock pump included?
I've actually been looking for that exact blue AL frame! Looking to switch back to an aluminum frame after riding carbon for past 6 years; currently on a carbon Ripmo V1. Did you buy direct or from LBS? I didn't see the blue aluminum frame only online they only had silver/grey. Can't wait to see you upgrade this with more high-end parts.
put a 160mm Fork(airshaft) straight on it, it lacks Frame stack which is the only thing holding this bike back from IMO being the best bike on the market for how good all-rounder it is.
Following your channel did you switch from the Marin 7 to the fuel ex ? I’m looking myself and this one looks good in the same price range as starter bike
I traded in the Slash and sold the Marin and couldn’t be happier. The EX is now my main bike, but I have been reviewing the Polygon N9 as well. You have to see the upgrades I’ve done to the EX7. Amazing!
Oh dang. I was torn between the aluminum and carbon EX. I mainly do gravity/freeride so I thought aluminum might be stronger. But I'm glad I went carbon. The Blue is so much better. Your blue looks too blue.. if you know what I mean.
@@JaredHoff Ok thanks!! I’m basically a beginner at 48yrs old so not sure how much knarly down hill ill be doing but want something with full suspension and was just concerned about the 35lb weight for blue/green trails and really can’t afford a 25lb Carbon lol
Is it a...new bike or is it just another temporary test bike? Most RUclips reviews are from so-called "expert," reviewers. Which makes me very skeptical on the pros & cons.
This is my new bike. I’ve owned the 2020 Fuel EX, and now I’m getting this Gen 6 Fuel EX. I wouldn’t call myself and expert. I love to geek out on bikes and make review videos. I definitely have an above average knowledge on bikes. I’m hoping these will bring value, and help people decide. But I’m not trying to sell anyone on it. Just giving my honest feedback.
I have the EX 8 Gen 6 and some of the parts on it were upgraded when I received the bike new. Like the brakes were SLX 4 piston when they were supposed to get the tier right below. Not complaining though.
I feel like this is one of those bikes which are really overpriced in terms of there configuration / price ratio. There are definitely better ones out there with the same forks and suspension, but with a much better drivetrain as well as dropper post and tyres for less money.
I hear ya! For me the EX7 is the best model in the lineup to upgrade because the price is as low as I can get for a Gen6, which leaves money in the bank to put those custom touches on it.
I can't believe they're still putting that garbage RS35 on these expensive bikes...SLX/XT combo with a Fox rear shock and a RockShox 35 fork is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen Trek wtf.
Congrats and welcome back to the trek family! Glad you made the move and looking forward for the upcoming upgrades videos
Thanks man 👍🏻 I’m stoked!
New bike day !!! Congrats brotha. Hopefully you can ride it soon. The weather where I’m at has been terrible.
Thanks bro! Weather has been so bad 🤦🏼♂️
Nice man, I remember you werent sure what to do with the slash, seems like a perfect solution!
Thank you! It’s going to be a fun bike to own and upgrade
Thinking of building up my own custom bike. Can't wait to see what you put on this one!

Definitely keep riding and have fun 👍🏻
I just ordered a fuel ex 7 gen 6 in blue and I am so excited because it is my first full suspension
Heck yeah! Stoked for you. You’ll have to check out the upgrades I did to my EX 7…
@@JaredHoff I will for sure!

Cant wait to try my new Gen 6 9.8xt, love the new geometry on this bike. So slack, plenty of travel, steep seat tube. Ride on!
9.8 XT is the cream of the crop in my opinion. Stoked for you!
Sweet! I would love a fuel ex. I currently own a top fuel and that is not enough some times.
My local bike shop has Top Fuel rentals, so I’m going to do some back to back ride videos in the future

I would love to go ride dirt bikes sometime, but spend too much money on mountain bikes to afford one 😂
Great to see you back on a Trek.
I'm still having a love affair with my Slash 8 🤣
Slash 8 is an amazing ride 🤘🏻

I thought it was too blue at first but stoked on it now that I got orange Fox 36 on it
@@JaredHoff eyy sick I got the same fork! Super nice.
The new Fuel EX isn't too little bike for you? Gravity/Freeride-wise?
Can’t wait to see the upgrades! Maybe Trail One bars and Stem? 🤔
🤔
Sweet bike!
Thanks 🤙🏻 Wait until you see the upgrades I have planned for it 😁
Do you feel the bike is too heavy for just a trail bike?
Not at all. Although, I don’t try to break any Strava records on the way uphill. I definitely pedal up for the downhill

Xt derailler is not on base
Is on ex8
The spec you see on the website isn’t what you get. This is the base model and it came with XT derailleur

I changed out the rear shock and fork 👍🏻 agree, but I’m stoked with my bike now.
I know it’s a buzz kill for your channel, but just change the “touch points” and ride it. There are so many “upgrade” videos out there.
Word! But upgrading is how I can get it from being a good bike to the “PERFECT” bike for me.
@@JaredHoff maybe just buy the higher equipped bike lol
@@50whatnomadtravelnursemtb5 He probably wanted that specific paint job. Its a nice one too.
