    These are nice kits that make a pleasing model when complete. I love that you've digitised it so it can be made bigger, the scope for superdetailing is inspirational!

    This is So awesome. These kits are so expensive now. Thank you.

    That looks great. It will be worth the work. Wish I had the time and money to do this - I'd want to do a Beta Fighter and pair that with an Alpha.....

    Absolutely fantastic! I built that model as a kid.
    really tempted to print on in 1/32 scale.

    Fantastic. I have the "leader one" and "cy kill" ones. Dreamed about this kit. Will Love to print it when I have some time. Thanks for your hard work on making this files. I know how hard this is!

      Thanks! I appreciate the comment. I hope this turns out nice, but I’m starting to realize that it’s going to take a lot longer than I thought.

      Oh god. I've had Leader-1 and Cy-Kill models BOTH multiple times over the years. They were just waaay to complex for me at those moments in my life.

    This is brilliant !! I have been meaning to CAD up the model I had when I was a kid. I am keenly following this. Subbed !
    When printing curved parts like that, I find it easier to orientate the parts with the curve facing the bed, uses much less support, it's easier to remove and the surface is easier to finish where the support slightly messes up the surface.

    • @customfabrications
      @customfabrications  4 года назад

      Thanks! I appreciate the comment. For some reason, on my printer, if I support a curved surface, sometimes the edge of the surface curves up just a tiny bit and catches the print nozzle causing a layer shift. Doesn’t happen every time, but enough that I started printing the way I am. Maybe it would be a simple printer setting change to fix? Or maybe the tree support in Cura would work better for me. Thanks again.

      @@customfabrications Yea, I saw you mentioned that in the video. It is a very strange issue. I have no idea what could be causing it.

      I just now saw this video ruclips.net/video/eM8zSG8fEkk/видео.html, and ordered two of them. This should stop layer shift. Hopefully. Layer shift has been a pain in my side for years.

    Awesome work, man. And so generous of you to share with everyone else on Thingiverse. I need to put this one on my todo list.
    Edit: And I have had some luck “fixing” .stl files by opening them in Flashprint (free Flashforge slicing software). If Flashprint detects a problem with the file upon opening it, it will offer you the option to repair it. After it repairs it, just save the .stl file under a new name. It’s worth a shot!

      custom fabrications No problem! It doesn’t work miracles, but it has helped me out a few times. Plus, you can’t beat the price!

    You can solve your layer issue using variable layer height on curves and you won't have that stepping. Following so I can print one myself! Keep up the good work.

    Surprised Harmony gold didn't try to DMCA like they do with everything else Macross related.

    Awesome! Was hoping you'd keep working on this. :D btw that model is of a VF-1D trainer, my favorite. It's funny that the have the legs on backwards on the box art. :D

      Thanks! I don’t think I knew the designation for it. Good to know. I think I may do the orange paint scheme instead of the brown. And I thought something looked ‘off’ on the box art.

    You have just had this build video posted at Macrossworld.com forum. You should drop by. By the way your work is the sort of thing I bought a 3d printer for.

    I was wondering when someone would use a 3D printer to re-create hard to find toys. How about an attempt on the Matchbox Veritech fighter?!

    • @customfabrications

      That would be cool. I might be thinking about something similar. I’m behind on a few projects, so it may be a while before I do it though.

    Hi, what should I buy that is low-cost, is resisted and durable, that makes this model and that it works with windows 7, has any link, greetings...

    • @customfabrications

      Hello. The only printer I’m really familiar with is the one I use. It’s the aluminum frame Prusa i3 from Folgertech. When I got it, it was $270, but I added the SD card reader and an E3d extruder and hotend. So I have about $400 into it. But it took weeks of ‘tweeking’ to get it print properly. I see a lot of good reviews about the creality 10. But that’s about all I know. There are a bunch of other youtubers that do nothing but printer reviews and testing.

    You can use Netfabb to repair it (I bought this a long time ago, I think it's a free web based program by microsoft now). Or you could get a license for this great slicer called Simplify3d, it will automatically make a model manifold (there's a setting) when you slice it.

    • @customfabrications
      @customfabrications  4 года назад

      I tried netfab several times, and it locked it up every time, and I tried 3d builder but it gave me an error code. Something about the file is ‘off’. But someone fixed it for me and the fixed file is in thingiverse now.
