I just started using the Field Notes graph notebook after watching a video how to that will let me track weekly goals. I follow a Read the Bible and CCC in a year schedule. I like how you mentioned the Ignatius Exam. My Diocesan paper described it using the acronym GRACE. G=Gratitude I was already logging my 3 good things at the end of the day. R=Reflection. What I did well and where I failed over the past day. A= Action Plan or Do List for the next day (calendar) C=Act of Contrition E=Exaltation so that the day ends in Praise, set up the next day. I like your beginning setup, with the list of books to potential books to read.
I've seen a lot of these journaling videos. And they talk in vague new agey terms of meditation and how the journal helps them keep a clearer mind and remind them to read, but I'm very pleasantly surprised that you very openly say that you use it to remind you to read the bible and pray the Rosary. I have a pocket journal (not the Field Notes branded kind, just a cheap walmart one) But I sort of stopped writting in it over the last year, in favor of writing in the big journal I keep by my desk where I normally write down the USCCB daily readings and my thoughts on those readings. I think I'm going to get back into carrying the pocket one now that Lent has begun. God bless you man.
Awesome, you’re a Catholic! As a young Catholic getting into journaling and field notes, I’ll for sure be looking into your channel. Keep up the work 🤙
Just started mine. I recently got a s 23 ultra and yes that's distracting tech BUT streaming games, content/music/books thruout the day keeps me sober (4 years). I don't do social media but at this phase in my life while i love the technology I'm able to carry in my day bag everywhere and the ability that gives me to never have idle hands or be bored i am deff lately at information overload and it causes my crazy brain to spike at times. I have noticed this...did a little reorganizing force myself to be around the kids more, take my ear buds out (this sounds awfully spoiled and first worldy i know but i spent 15 years trying to get sober) and journaling/self reflecting as opposed to just having my phone full of grocery and work notes. I got a nice carry pouch for my notes that is also my wallet and carries my knife. I am a naturally scatterbrained person so my notes are the same. Now they just have summaries of my day things to work on and things im doing in between work and grocery list notes haha. But its real nice. Super helpful. At first i was like i need to figure out how to organize these perfectly but i will figure that out as time goes on, andi will be able to write those ideas of organization down on my nice notebooks
I love field notes. Theyre spendy though. I buy off brand ones at 48 books for about $18. Each day is a new page. On the left I write down something I'd like to remember or keep in my head for the day, either a quote or a helpful reminder to myself on the kind of mindset I want to have for the day. Under that I have my to-do list. And on the right side goes my notes. Things to remember, things to look up later, or any other information that I've picked up and want to carry with me. Sometimes I flip to the next page and that becomes a spot for me to jot my thoughts down to get them out of my noggin so I can proceed with a clear head. These little notebooks are amazing. I recently picked up a leather cover that can hold 6 of these all at once. Really excited to find new ways to use them as I transition away from using my phone as much.
Seems like a paid ad for field notes, but I still liked and subscribed because I can tell this is a good guy who approaches life from the same angle I do. i think I'll be able to learn a lot from him. looking forward to watching his other videos.
I've only started using a pocket field notes (the PPL one 🔥) and it coincided with my phone being sent in for repair... I was surprised at how much I'm able to jot down in just a day. Who knew I had a lot of thoughts? But wow these pocketsized notebooks will be a mainstay.
I stopped a while ago but for quite a long while I was journaling about my pain…I have chronic pain from a spinal injury so I was trying it out and after my second surgery I never got back to it. Still have sever pain so I should try and get back in the habit even though writing causes additional pain…I did think about doing video journal entries but somehow that seems like more work to keep organized and put together.
My wallet recently died so I'm thinking of moving to using a notebook cover as a wallet. This might work for using a pocket notebook. What about Bullet Journalling specifically as a set up?
Oh man I think I used DayOne back in 2016. I liked it, but day one more replaced my big desk notebook. I still used my field notes then would do an evening or morning sync up into DayOne. Hope that helps!
@@_stevenfoster It does. I'm trying to get into journaling. I see the value of using something like Field Notes but I have a digital device with me all the time... trying to find a good marriage between both.
Thank you for reminding me of this! I did the devotional on Hallow this past year. Just added the book to the stack. Going to finish it before this year is up!

“I don’t want to screw up this notebook…” really resonates w me! I’m gonna start carrying a field notes and jotting thoughts down! Thank you!

Man this is great. I’m Baptist so the content of my quiet time is different but I love that you’re connecting with God daily. Keep it up brother

Many years ago I did the "Bible in 90 Days" Program.
My wallet recently died so I'm thinking of moving to using a notebook cover as a wallet. This might work for using a pocket notebook.
What about Bullet Journalling specifically as a set up?
It didn't work. It's too big to be a wallet for me (executive casual mostly)
Thoughts on using Field Notes with the DayOne app? Have you done this before?

Did you go to Reality?
Yes. Still love visiting when I come through San Francisco.

I'm stupid for buying overpriced stapled paper..
When you read the Bible actually think about what it says, then ask yourself if it's moral to worship someone who repeatedly commits genocide
I actually have and I wish you well.
