    The only cons are a lack of Warm Light and waterproofing. They're the only reasons why I ended up going for the latest Kindle Paperwhite, otherwise, this represents great value for money.

    The primary reason I opted for the paperwhite is its waterproofness. I use it a lot for backpacking and the paperwhite works fine after getting wet...

    I got the Paperwhite bc tiktok said so, for the warmth, bigger screen and waterproof. I returned it after a month, it was too heavy, i didn’t like the flat slab screen and I never used the warm setting. At first I thought it was a poor purchase and it will dust in my drawers or that I just prefer paper. I got the basic a while later and I love it. I bought zero books since, I walk and read everywhere, i read at night and by the pool and it is amazing. Definitely prefer the basic.

    So after a few years playing with different setups.... Laptops (gaming and netbook like), desktops and tablets (both iPad and Android). I find that some device with characteristics similar to a tablet (its minimalistic design and portability) and a desktop PC (upgradability, cooling and power) seems to be my sweet spot for portable work, gaming and upgradability. If I want to do portable work, I can remote to my home desktop PC and utilize its resources, or even log in to my work PC if I need to. If I wanted to game, simply play on the desktop since I can always upgrade GPU/CPU/RAM/Storage if I need to. And if remoting isn't an option - depending on what I need to do, I can simply use the OS and use whatever local software I have installed to do simple work. After experimenting with a cheap $100 laptop, I noticed my only gripe was limited screen variations at that price point, while tablets have more flexibility on screen resolutions and size - getting a good tablet with a decent display can cost a lot. I was thinking of using a raspberry Pi 5 8gb to run Arch and connect it to a big big battery pack so that it can be powered to it and a portable monitor. Plus, I can use my own mini keyboard and mouse without having to be limited in ergonomics with the design of a laptop. If this plan would work reasonably, I would then just create some housing that would keep the monitor and pi together in a pleasing asethetic. So then it looks like a surface pro tablet without a keyboard case sleeve and I can bring whatever input devices I need.

    Very helpful video! I’ve been wanting to upgrade my ef lenses and rf makes it so hard because I want them all lol As a hobbyist and mom who loves to take photos I think the 24-70 is going to be perfect, as well as the 70-200 2.8 and now I need to decide on either the 50 1.2 or 85 1.2 ☺️

    When I bought the 24-105 I was surprised at how little difference there was between 70mm and 105mm. Then I opened the aperture to f4 and it was a very bad feeling that it couldn't be opened more ;). I realised that I couldn't live with it. The next day I replaced the lens with a 24-70.

    For me the warm backlight feature is very important. I read mostly in bed 60-30 min before sleep as I want to tire my brain out so I can softly go to sleep. I wont have any lamps on so its pitch dark with kindles backligt. And the warmlight is amazing. try it out. Pitch dark in bed, you are doing your best to not have too much light so you can sleep better. So adjust kindle backligt on to around level 2-4. AND the warmligt adjust it to level 22-23. You get a very soft light that feels amazing to read in the dark. Now try same with the basic. It looks horrible without the soft warmlight! The cold light is just too harsh even if you have it on lowest level in pitch dark. An other issue with the basic is it has only 4 backlights when Paperwhite has 17 backlights. Basic ones screen is very unevenly lit. So no I would say its very worth it to go with the Paperwhite. Only downside is they don't sell it in 8gb anymore and the price is up compared with the first Paperwhite 11gn from like year 2022

    I have a kindle that's over a decade old at this point and I can't honestly see a reason to upgrade they all do the exact same thing its not like you need some crazy technology or massive storage to read some books. Also having adverts on a product you bought is horrific and dystopian.

    Hi there! one small correction; the distance is not measured from the rear element but from the film/sensorplane, it has a symbol on the camerabody that has a horizontal line through a circle, the distance is measured from the line. This lens also carrries a secret; if you pull out/push in the focussing ring you can make focussing stiffer in case the camera is pointing down on a tripod.

    Intriguing topic for a video! I guess growing up the daughter of an AV engineer (and now following in his footsteps), I have never liked earbuds nearly as much as full-on, over-ear headphones. But I'm still curious enough to watch this. 🙃 I personally use noise cancelling Sony headphones that are both Bluetooth and wired. (The cable can be plugged in or removed.) Just a random note - Whenever my contractors test our setup for an event, they tend to use songs by Led Zeppelin and Boston and then some random pop songs.

    • @_stevenfoster

      Yeah over the ear headphones are still the best. I have my Sony XM5s for travel and wired Sennheiser 660s for editing at the desk. That reminds me I need to listen to some Zeppelin and Boston today...

  • @dima1353
    @dima1353 Месяц назад

    No, you don't need these lenses. EF 70-200 IS II/III can now be found at a very good price and it is a more honest instrument, without the crazy vignetting of a wide-angle lens and with a one-piece design without trunk (hey, we used to overpay for this, it was a feature and not a bug for almost 30 years) 50 1.2 is simply a waste of money. This is nothing more than a way to encourage Canon megalomania. EF Sigma Art will do a great job, and can be found for a third of the cost. There is also tokina - even better. You don't need record sharpness along the edge if there is 2v vignetting on that edge. This is not a tool, this was their way of showing off with the new system in 2018. The proposed wide-angles are kinda ok, but not the best value. EF 16-35 4 IS - very balanced lens from the golden era, can be found at a great price. Again, modern lenses are designed to be amazing at sharpness charts along (very dark) edges at an open aperture - absolutely no one needs this in their work. What is this video all about? To recommend the most obvious and expensive lenses that Canon itself recommends and wants to sell? What's the use of this video? If it doesn't exist, people won't get lost like "uw, we can’t figure out if 50 1.2 is worth it”? These are not some hidden gems or anything. This is what Canon is rushing to the market with and what they want to make money on.
