They're weak.
All heros and villans go through the same thing. They lose somthing that's close to them or they lose everything. But it depends on how they use that. Villans will say "the world hurt me I'll hurt it back" but heros will say "the world hurt me, I'll make sure no one goes through the same thing as I did."

Even Joel Miller he is a a good person but he sacrificed the cure to the funges to save emily because he couldn't loose another person who was like family to him basically emily is like Joel's daughter who died to a military soldier by command on the radio and Joel survived but his daughter was gone meaning emily was like his daughter and they had a huge bond like father and daughter so when she was gonna die he couldn't have 2 brutal scars remain in his life he lost his family and h doesn't want to loose another.
