What makes it the "best tank"? Does it have superior armor composites that's thick like challenger and abrams? Does it have the best pentrating round like the Abrams m829E4? Does it have good mobility like leclerc, leopard, abrams? Does it have blast compartments and blow out panels like Abrams and leopard? What tech does it have?
The Ukraine war has revealed that thick and heavy armor on tanks is not an advantage on the battlefield but a critical weakness. This was a point of criticism for the K2 compared to the M1 or Leopard tanks. It has been proven that modern warfare does not require thick and heavy armor but rather active protection systems capable of actively destroying drones and anti-tank missiles. This is because modern shells, anti-tank missiles, and drones can penetrate even the thickest and heaviest armor. However, the M1 and Leopard tanks are already too heavy to add such active protection systems. In contrast, the K2 can accommodate these systems and is actually planned to be equipped with them in the future. Even the aspect that was considered a disadvantage for the K2 has turned out to be an advantage. Ultimately, the K2 is faster, more accurate, provides a more comfortable driving experience, and is capable of active defense against drones and anti-tank missiles. Additionally, the K2 has an attack method that neither the M1 nor the Leopard possesses: it can use special shells to attack the upper part of enemy tanks from a much greater distance. Furthermore, since all wheels are individually controlled by a computer, its hit rate while moving quickly and firing is significantly higher than that of the M1 or Leopard. The fact that the U.S. has abandoned its original plan to develop next-generation tanks with thick and heavy armor. And lighter and more mobile tanks like the K2 is very telling. This change underscores that thick and heavy armor is an outdated concept, as revealed by the current Ukraine war. This is why Poland and Romania chose the K2.
K2 tank has ceramic pebbles in laminated armor thus it can withstand multiple hits better than ceramic plates in Western tanks which cracks after first hit. K2 120x55 caliber main gun can also elevate twice more than Western tanks using suspensions. K2 also has top attack munition that fires like mortar rounds and hit targets 8km away. K2 can also cross river using snorkel. During NATO war games, K2 proved that it has superior targeting system over other tanks. S Korean 120mm tungsten rounds has 97% effectiveness as the US depleted uranium rounds without radiation worry. Tungsten is very heavy like depleted uranium.
K-2 was designed to be operated in a very rough terrain - like in mountainous geography of Korea as M1A2 cannot operate in some regions of Korea - but K2 was designed from the beginning to be accessible to those rough terrains. And also be in support role in urban warfare - since the war against North Korea will be mostly result in brutal urban combats against modern army (Korea is 1/4 the size of California - and has way more population). K2's design fits the requirements of the modern combat's demand, and that is why it is considered the "best" in the market. Considering S. Korea uses K-1 (which is MX /M1 prototype development that is fitted to Korea's requirement), and trains with the US M1A2, and also uses T-80U (yes, the Russian), they have the access to the best of the both sides - based on these, they picked the best of each tanks and put it in to K2...including the fire control system of the French Leclerc, T-80U's snorkly, M1A2's armor and gun etc etc.

News of three days ago, 26th. July 2023. Lithuania picks Leopard 2 tank as its MBT over Abrams and 'the best tank on Earth' the Black Panther and plans to acquire 54. The Czech Republic is to order another 50.
Czech borders Germany so the politics and relationship will determine which tank to buy. For Czech, it makes sense to buy German tank. Be prepared to wait 8 years to receive the tank though. Hungary ordered the German Leopard 2A7HU in 2018 and just this week (August 2023 - 5 years later...sigh) received ONE TANK. Also, the price per tank increased 2.5 times for Leo2 tank. Norway found out that the price increased to $60 million USD per tank and decided to not buy the additional 18 units of Leo2 tanks - too expensive. There are military planes that cost less than $60 million dollars. Romania on the other hand has close ties with Poland so most likely order *300 units of K2 Black Panther tanks* to be logistically and supply chain ready with its partner, Poland. Italy has agreed to joint-develop the future K2PL specs for Europe as a replacement for Ariete tanks and no longer is a partner in the MGCS future tank project with Germany and France.
@@jwb1227 The gist of my comment was that Lithuania did not choose the cheapest or the quickest to complete the order, but she chose, in her opinion, the best tank for the job, be as it maybe, more costly than the 'Black Panther' or longer to arrive than the Abrams, Lithuania chose the Leopard 2.
@@joegatt2306 Germany sends NATO troops to Lithuania twice a year (I think?) so the relationship is there to leverage politics for a tank order. If you take politics and relationships off the table (not realistic), the real choice would have been between M1 Abrams (takes 3 years to deliver) and the K2 Black Panther (takes 4 months or less). Frankly, I think Lithuania is relying on Germany to send NATO troops to bolster Lithuanian troops (and maybe Poland also to send troops) in the event of a fight breaking out but Lithuania is way too close to Belarus/Russia/Kaliningrad to be so relaxed about its tank order taking 8 years to complete (Norway being in west EU far from Russia could take such a relaxed view but Lithuania is crazy). What will they do if Russians attack in 3 years? Throw rocks? Too much politics and not enough common sense or logic for Lithuania to order Leo2 tanks knowing that their tank budget just blew up because Leo2 tanks now cost 2.5 times more than the original budget and still takes 8 years to receive a few tanks. At least Estonia has better common sense than Lithuania.
@@jwb1227 Still out of point, but anyhow, here is my reply: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Netherlands, Greece, Hungary, Poland (only country to-date to replace her Leo.2 with K2), Lithuania, Spain and Portugal, Switzerland, Turkey, Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway (all of Scandinavia! In 2020, Norway also had to chose between Leo.2 and K2, and chose the former!), Chile, Indonesia and Singapore, (so close to S. Korea, but...), Australia and Canada, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Potential buyers: Italy, Croatia, Bulgaria and Saudi Arabia, whose bid to purchase 600 to 800 (!) Leopard 2s did not go through due to opposition by Sigmar Gabriel, Minister of Federal Economy.
@@joegatt2306 Your narrative paints a much more bright future for German Weapons production than reality. Here is my sur-reply: Total numbers for future Leopard 2 orders will still be less than K2 Black Panther orders. Just Poland and Romania will be close to 1,300 units of K2 with other Europe nations joining the K2 user club soon. Germany and surrounding nations who have good relationships with Germany (EU/NATO or otherwise) will likely choose to stay with Leopard 2 tank. Scandinavia: Norway chose to stay with Leo2 despite its own military asking the Norway government TWICE to buy the K2 Black Panther (this was real news, not fake news). Norway did cancel the additional 18 units options contract after the price of new Leo2A8 tanks increased 2.5 times to $60 million+ dollars per tank. Same for the rest: Sweden, Finland, Swiss, Netherlands, Denmark, etc. Basically, the most of the WEST Europe will likely stay with Germany's tank. This is not a surprise but expected. As for Greece, it has the only Leopard 2 tank production still in operation (btw, Germany no longer has an operational production line for Leo2 - that is why it is so slow to produce Leo2) and the fact that Germany saved Greece from the financial problem - so Greece will stay with Leopard 2. Turkiye will operate the existing fleet of older Leo2 tanks but after Syria and the fact that Turkiye now has its own MBT - the Altay tank in production due to help from the Koreans - so I doubt there will be any new Leo2 tanks purchased from Germany/Greece (Turkiye and Greece do not like each other). Spain and Portugal - these 2 countries will be "up in the air" (uncertain) since they only bought the older Leo2 tanks from Germany when they were sold as used for really low price. I doubt these 2 countries have the budget to afford $60 million+ dollars per tank price of new Leo2A8 tanks. Spain did not like how the Bundestag stalled the transfer of its Leo 2 to Ukraine and frankly lot of other nations are re-thinking the Germany weapons purchases because of this. As for Italy - it is no longer in the MGCS project with France and Germany - and has tentatively agreed to join POLAND for its next K2PL (Europe version) tank project. So not sure about Italy staying with Leo2. Romania chose American M1 and so did Poland. You will see in next 2-5 years that a lot of EAST Europe nations will buy American and Korean tanks for 2 main reasons: (1) Too close to Russia so need reliable weapons delivered faster than Germany (8 years waiting time) so American and Korean tanks can deliver faster, (2) Germany has shown to be UNRELIABLE as partner when Russia is involved (aka Ukraine) so there is a switch over to American protection instead. Americans are also having issues with slow production so Korean weapons are being recommended by the Americans (not recommending Germany b/c of Ukraine and slow production). Canada is 50/50 chance for staying with Leo2 as there are talks of purchasing K2 Black Panther for Canada as well as Korean Submarines. Australia is going with M1 Abrams, not Leopard 2. Rheinmetall sold Boxer to Australia but Koreans sold the AS21 Redbacks in competition with KF41 Lynx (I think using the quirky Liebjerr engine was a mistake. Should have used the reliable BTU engine like the AS21 Redback). Singapore will likely stay with Leopard 2 as their economy is strong enough to buy Leopard 2. As for South America and rest of Southeast Asia, they are more likely to abandon Leopard 2 tanks since buying new is not an option for them as their economy cannot afford the over-priced Leo2 and go with K2 Black Panther. The Koreans are expecting all this and are currently increasing their production capacity even more. Korea has 2.5 times the capacity for tank production over Germany/Greece but will be 4 times capacity over Germany in 2 years and that is just in Korea. In 2 years, POLAND will have a full K2 tank production line in Poznan, Poland. Poland will be a new supply chain in Europe for the K2 series tanks and the K3 next model. There will be an increase in Euro market and jobs for EU workers. Since Poland will also produce the K9 Thunder SPH in Europe, the current users of K9 will only increase. Even Norway, Finland, Estonia, etc. along with 7 other countries are using or will use the K9 Thunder. Both K9 and K2 will help each other in sales in Europe - mostly in EAST Europe and parts of WEST Europe. Norway, Estonia and others will be purchasing additional K9 units and the new K239 Chunmoo MLRS (Korean HIMARS with 12 launchers per vehicle instead of 6 in American version). Germany clearly knows that is going on and even Rheinmetall AG has asked the Koreans for partnership in future weapons development as there may be problems between Rheinmetall AG and KMW.
But field tested heavily in Rena, Norway under extreme conditions. Performed better than the fragile Leopard 2A7 test model in the same test. Moreover, Leo2 tank did not do well in real battle conditions in Syria and Ukraine.

K2 best tank in the world ❌
K2 the most expensive tank in the world ✅
The leopard 2A is more expensive so how is the K2 the most expensive. Facts only dude stop with the fake propaganda.
@ What does propaganda have to do with this? do you even know the meaning of this word? instead of saying that the leopard is more expensive, you could write the price
M2020 vs. K2 black panther.. gaijin, make this happen..
BP needs separated ammo and better side armour, only then it might be as good as Abrams
M1 Abrams is good but only the US Army version with all the upgraded armor and ammo. No foreign country is permitted to get the same version as the US. The M1 export model is DOWNGRADED version with no special armor and has less choices for ammo. Therefore, export version of M1 is not as good as the K2 Black Panther. The export version of K2 is actually better than the Korean Army version.
The Abrams cannot properly support active protection and is to heavy as it is.
Those tanks look very impressive but haven't been tested in the battlefield...
Didn't Turkey use their version in Syria?
They are placed in S Korean military and other countries around the world.
They'd get wrecked if they were placed in Ukraine😃

No tank is immune to drones & ATGMS. Drones are the future.
Everybody has seen what drones can do. So now everybody is working on jamming/anti-drone counter-measures. Yes, Russians are losing a lot of tanks but that's partially due to their tactics. Boots on the ground take territories and armor is an essential part of that. Can't just be flying drones.
