About Us
We are Becka and Zach, a couple who, in 2020, dreamt of sailing off into the big blue. Trouble is- we were in a pandemic, had a university degree to finish, on a student budget, only had ever sailed dingies, oh and didn't have a boat. The dream seemed not only unrealistic but pretty insane.
However, we worked hard, finished our degrees, worked as many hours as physically possible, saved with all our might, got experience and in March 2022 bought our very own sailboat, Teulu. Having little sailing experience and being a young couple, we have encountered a tonne of hurdles and made plenty of mistakes! but for every downfall, there has always been a reason to dust ourselves off and carry on.
We hope you can join us as we sail around the world and keep #bloodydoingit

As you have been loving the slightly longer vids recently, we decided to extend this one a bit. Hopefully it can make you feel like you are right on board with us. Whats been your fave bit about our Panama series so far?
I love the longer videos. I can't get enough of your adventure.
you Becca. I cannot think of a nicer couple to sail around the world with.
What you guys did for that family in the last episode, truly brought tears to my eyes. The whole adventure has been lovely, but that has to be my favorite bit so far.
The sos prolly came from the ipad you have if it gets bumped the wrong way it will say it detected a crash and send out an sos
I wonder if the Panamanian Coast Guard made a visit to check you out and confirm you were legit and not drug runners. Drugs make their way north from central America and beyond for the U.S. SOS broadcast sounds like a good excuse. What do you think? At least he was polite and friendly.
I love you kids! 50 minutes with you guys is a gift. Becka, please don't ever sacrifice yourself for clicks, like some women on other channels do. You're too precious for that. Safe travels. ❤
Your support means the world to us! Thank you for watching 😊
Yes I agree. It seems that every other sailing channel has to have a clickbait hot chick showing all kinds of skin. I really appreciate the authenticity of this channel.
No need for all that, just keep it real as it happens.Beauty comes from within 😉
This is good advice ..... Natural beauty doesn't need to use "Click Bate" !!
Well done, enjoy your story. To whatever commenters say above....just remember, clicks are $$, and $$ keeps you going. Always follow your OWN game plan. If its to circumnavigate and share your experiences, it takes $$ people. Simple as that. Cheers and luck!
One thing ive noticed about full time sailors is that their heads are on an absolute swivel. They are constantly looking around: at the horizon, over the side, in front of the boat, at the sails, at their instruments, to port, to starboard, back to the horizon, etc. They are actually like animals on the savanna, constantly being aware of their surroundings. Beautiful, really, how they become part of the nature around them.
Yes there is that. But just like that you hear every single noise you're boat and the sea makes. The second something is wrong or just different you are on it. You're also very aware of the moon and tides. It is a interesting , life. I am on my 34th year of mostly full time cruising.
This continues even when sleeping, you become so symbiotic with your mate, vessel and surroundings even the slightest change will bring you to alertness.
The reason both of you are becoming a popular channel is YOU, not us, not our opinions, not our comments, we will look at your videos because we like what we see, but do not let our biases influence you, do not let our comments guide or affect you, do not try to please us, just keep doing what you were doing from the beginning and we will keep watching you both.
This comment to a T - it makes me feel like my husband and I could actually make sailing a goal and not a pipe dream!
From the crazy dancing on the bow, to Zak needing a good comb, you two have really impressed me with the innocence, determination and honesty that you approach everything. You can really see the love in your eyes when you look at each other.
This channel just keeps getting better. Well done you two x
You are a very handsome couple. I love Becca's childlike enthusiasm for things that bring you joy.
Thats a wharram Pahi 42 or larger and rather beautiful see Mark of Wilding sailing.. there may be a slightly higher performance version ...with narrower hulls James designed a couple for racers.. 😂 Mind you a Pahi can move sweetly in double figures with a cruising rig.
The biggest wharram is the Pahi 63 it has two masts. Hanneka Boone James's partner captains Spirit of Gaia... You will likely find Wharrams miles from anywhere.. especially across the Pacific and Indian ocean... 🧙🏻♂️🇬🇧 So you will always get reminders of Plymouth and Cornwall.
Thanks for sharing this interesting information about the Wharram Pahi boats! We love what Mark has been doing. Wow we'll have to check out the 63 😊
@@TeuluTribe
There's also the Wharram Islanders at 50 and 60ft they were developed to provide professionally built vessels for Transport and cruising.. so have more enclosed deck accommodation. See Sailing in the Sea of Japan.. they are more like larger Wharram Tiki's. So more space in the hulls and they don't have the up curved prows of the Pahi's.
The ultimate wharram.would be built using inventwoods Metelwood based ply and timber and probably be covered in Basalt fiber rather than the old and problematic GRP stuff.
Cork seadeck is more durable than teak lighter and softer on the feet ..it doesn't get hot and insulates ...but you're on the wrong side of the world to find that stuff. 😉 Safe sailing both of you.
I spend 37 years on a double mast scooner traveling the world with my husband and a crew of eighteen people I know what it is to be borded out of my skull , but friendship never dies ....
Wow, that sounds like an incredible journey you've had!
I don't care who you are, 7:50 is the view that every boater lives for all day every day. Gorgeous waves, shoreline in view, just stunning.
At times I have watched dozens of sailing channels, yours is the only one I still watch religiously - Happy Monday to us all
50+ minutes AND catching fish! Today is a good day.
It sure was!
Thank you. For the vodka anesthetic, get a plastic squeeze bottle with a narrow straw. Put the straw in the gill and administer the vodka from the squeeze bottle. You will use very little and the fish will expire quickly.
I’ve been fortunate to work none stop for 44 years and thoroughly enjoying most of that time. However I’d swap that in a heartbeat for what you two are doing. Maybe not for a continuous 44 years but certainly in my 20s and 30s. Then maybe have a break and do it all again in my mid 40s and 50s. You only live once and if you’re fortunate to be in a situation where you can live your dream, do it. Loving the extended posts, as you really bring us along with you. However, don’t put yourself under pressure to do this every week. If you’ve got the content and time to do it, that’s brilliant, if not , don’t stress about it. Just keep the wonderful content going when you can.👍
Your words truly resonate with me. It's never too late to pursue your dreams and make the most of every opportunity that comes your way. We love putting out longer content but it is a lot more work to do so. Glad you're enjoying it😊
I too am enjoying immensely the longer video, simply cause i don't want them to end. i love how you treat each other, the generosity of you both and how you treat people whom ever they are.
Finding complete solitude, totally away from any civilization. That's a cruisers dream and you guys did it. Wow!!❤ I'm over the top happy for you, enjoy 😊
Thanks Jim! It was sure in the absolute middle of nowhere!
What a thing to show your kids , mum and dad before ...
...All they have to look forward to is that doughnut with sprinkles!
So privileged to share the adventures through your eyes and experiences, so thank you for that ❤. Loved the extended version - what a great way to chill after another day in the UK. Absolutely love the sailing clips and having the camera moving with the swell is like ASMR for the soul.
Seeing both your smiles and sense of achievement reaching C.Rica after these past weeks is the icing on the cake.
Hope you're having THE best time over there. 🎉
Love the way you are able to let the video speak for itself so often. Almost like I'm sailing on my own boat. Wonderful
Feel your pain when the "fish taste fishy" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
love you're channel, not a travel channel, its about sailing and life. So many now are more like a tourist travel channel. I like watching sailing life. than you.
Photographer's trick for seeing/picturing into the water: use a polarizing filter (or even our sun glasses) and rotate it around. That will cut out the bright reflections off the surface and let you see more/deeper into the water.
And I wonder if the SOS Flag was related to a computer record from someone having relayed or noticed your call for help back when the engine troubles started and you had to shut it off at sea?
Love the longer episodes although I do appreciate the extra time involved in editing along with your daily tasks. You two are living the dream, although I’m sure you you might not agree when you have boat problems. I do so like being able to see your travels and experiences.
I particularly enjoyed your stay on the isolated island where you had mechanical problems, and the immediate respect you had for their culture and life. More importantly the respect you had for each other, resulted in a lifelong friendship and memory.
In everything in life, Contrast is Inevitable ... Balance is Key.
Welcome to Costarica, the only nation without an Army, where by law 90% of the territory must be protected and most of the population has a degree!
Nice video! Thanks!
A yard like that is where you bring your own supplies and enjoy the stay
Interesting choices of music for this episode 😮
Hey you both, First time aboard And appreciate you both being Clean and wholesome. I think I will subscribe and enjoy your T r e k s around.❤
O wow you are spoiling me this Monday evening truly. Huge thanks for all you effort in doing so. ❤
I think for me was the friendliness of the folk you meet there! How lovely for you both! I am also fascinated at the difference in technology to when I used to do boating in the late seventies and into the early eighties with a motor cruiser! If you could show more of the equipment! for me that would be fascinating ok! 👍
You are so enjoyable to watch, love following your journey. I’m 50, have no interest in boats or sailing but have happily sat and watched while you both fix the engine problems and listened whilst you talk sailing chat I have no idea what it means. But love your journey. Stay safe and I’ll carry on loving this amazing channel xxxx 🇬🇧
The perfect cure for the Monday blues!! And another long one at that! You're spoiling us! ☺💙
Good to have good people board your boat. Keep up the Good.
Ahoy. This was a great vid. You got some really good footage and you managed to capture the feeling of sailing. Godspeed until the next one..
Thank you for the extended cut. Ill spend that much time with you every week no problem. So admit it, that opening scene with the soft light, fish boat and birds, was AI generated right. 😂 I mean holy crab, it was surreal. Glad to see the Coast Guard was friendly. Lightening behind you and that full moon guiding you was just glorious. Onward to new adventures. Stay safe. ❤🙏
I'm glad you enjoyed the extended cut! Your support means a lot to us Steve. I wish AI was that good 😂
You two are classic greats to accompany on this adventuresome destiny loving life to the fullest. Stay Beautiful
yay new vid! always so intresting how ppl can have such a different lifestyle
Thanks for watching! Isn't it crazy how different everyone's lives are?
The small cat is a Gemini 105M (or MC). Has a less than 15ft beam. They have made over a 1000 of these.😊
It’s tiny for a cat, thanks for letting us know what it is! 😊
Theres a smaller still cat that was built in the UK the Kittywake .. like the Smaller prouts still very sea worthy just with a low bridge deck so slam and slop in the rough. But they can go down the French canal system to the Med.
What a Lovely place to stay. Say hello to Madds.
The wharram is 38 or 42' butvlight and can be split into its hulls beams and center pod/deck as they are lashed together with dyneema.
Hey guys love your videos as always! I think wasting alcohol for killing the fresh fish you catch a waste. Could be better used for trading with locals at remote donations. For putting down the fish I would recommend having a glove to hold & a hardwood bat to stun the fish. Once stunned the fish's hart will still be beating & bleeding will be more effective. Also once stunned the fish will feel no pain. Yummy yummy fish for dinner!
Hi Becka. It's brilliant to see you both so happy 😊. Great background music, I'm loving the long video, lol. Those crabs won't eat you, Becka, 🤪😅. That Coastguard was so nice and polite, it's great to have them, that sailing under the moon is fantastic, i couldn't sleep at night when i was on a Yacht last, i kept thinking we were going to hit something or run into a country, lol. Great holiday. You two are so lucky. Costa Rica 🇨🇷. Enjoy yourselves. 😉🫡💯👌👍🏁🇮🇪
Liam (Ireland)
Thank you so much, Liam! We're glad you enjoyed the video and the background music. Costa Rica has been truly amazing!
You're right, I loved it. I watched it from the beginning till the end and got a lot out of your experience, watching it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Following your journey from the near the beginning and now you are up to almost 100000 subscribers🎆
Golfito was the global distribution port for Chiquita bananas for many many years. Sadly, now it is the port that ships palm oil around the world.... across the bay is the Osa Peninsula, known as the most bio-diverse place on the planet! Amazing, thanks for the memories!!
Interesting! We spent some time on the Osa Peninsula. The vid would be up in a few weeks😁
I've felt like that fish on vodka but I generally wake up😂
Love Zach’s Hawaiian shirt 🤙🏼🌴
Loved the vid. The sunset was amazing. Nearly at 100k 😎
Hello, I just watched your videos about the water pump bearing and the people who helped you so much. I was very happy to see that you were able to get the internet for those people. Also I am wondering if you might be planning to try to accumulate more essential spare parts to keep on your boat. Ok I enjoy your videos a lot and will keep watching. Good luck. ciao. Geo
I enjoy being able to follow along on your adventures, thanks for all the effort you two expend to record and edit it.
The photo of the sunrise brought back wonderful memories for me on night watch sailing along as the loom of the sun before it breakers the horizon as you sit there alone with your thoughts and the family asleep below! Just perfect!
That light is called a transit marker light they also come as triangle you keep one in front of the other .
It's wonderful to hear that our adventures bring back memories for you. Thank you for following along and the information!
Had to wait a couple of days longer to watch as couldn't fit the 1 hour in 😢. Love you guys though ❤
It's a Wharram for sure. I see you foi d Wildling Sailing. Amazing job Mark did. And rather good to see he's been getting good help while working on it here in The Netherlands!
And what you are doing, btw, is no less amazing.
Prettiest sunset shot ive ever seen from any channel period!
Cruisers are like gamblers they usually only tell about the good times (winnings) very few will share the bad scary times, boring moments. Wondering how many people get into sailing after watching some of these videos. Definitely one of the better videos I’ve seen good job!
Quote, Cruisers are like gamblers they usually only tell about the good times (winnings) very few will share the bad scary times, boring moments."
Why should they show boring stuff, and why do you think sailors has the time to film, when things goes South?
I enjoy the joy you both have in meeting friends and also the compassion you had for the family on the small island. Obviously your patreons are wonderful people for donating so quickly also. I believe your style of videos and editing is a refreshing new way different from most. Don’t change a thing and also as for me , I enjoy the longer video. Thank you for bringing us along on your journey. ❤
The rule of thumb I was taught is only tighten the nerf enough to stop the leech from flapping.
100% a Wharram. Most likely a Pahi. It look bigger than 42 so it could be a 63, sistership of spirit of Gaia who is the flagship of Wharram's designs.
Ah okay, I don't think it was 63. I'm 100% sure now its a 42 Pahi now. Thanks for letting us know! 😊 Such a beautiful boat!
@@TeuluTribe Pahi 42 same one as Wildling sailing is restoring
Dominic tarr sailing has one that he sails solo and cheaply around new zealand. Including out to the Chatham islands
I started watching you both when you first went up that river on the south coast of England getting used to your boat and learning to sail it - haven't watched for a year or so - your conversations have changed 'Isn't this a nice place to do a haul out" :) :) :) :)
Wonderful video, I was enthralled all the way through. I sailed these waters when I was 21 and you brought back to me the emotions of how we do life. I loved the donut so true. I’m 58 and just started doing it all again, can’t wait to get back to the remote locations, back to the simple life. Brilliant video, Thankyou.
Still knocking it out of the park, do you remember me telling you after your first unaccompanied sail that you’d be salty dogs in no time at all, and here we are you pair of salty dogs. I don’t know why as I don’t even know you personally but I’m so proud of you both.
love the longer videos thank you!
OMG Teulu has crabs! social hygiene is important Teulu!
Wonderful episode
Great Film!
Look how competent you have both become since the start of your journey. Another very pleasant and interesting video. Thank you.
Hi Guys, as always the highlight of my day when you have a new video! Not sure if you realise and not trying to be a know it all, but as a fellow yacht sailor who has spent a lot of time in light winds if your motoring the wind tends to move as if you were going into it. This can greatly reduce the already low power you get out of your sails and to see you playing the mainsheet while motoring, you probably didn't actually get any improvement to your speed but may have increased the fuel usage slightly due to the sails being pushed against by the apparent wind. I've found that especially over long low wind journeys (sometimes it's been up to a week becalmed) leaving the sails down and just motoring (which I personally hate - it is a sailboat after all!!!) it's been much more comfortable, less chance of damage to sails from sudden wind gusts as the wind changes and sometimes significantly noticeable lower fuel usage (over a week trip we got nearly 6 hours more than the previous best engine time for the fuel we had on board in ocean offshore swells). Keep being well and have a terrific time and thank you for your videos!
well done guys another excellent video, keep em coming X
Absolutely awesime content yall. I love you guys...keep doin what you're doing.
Red Crabs probably get their colour from eating Shrimp, you could have caught a few for Dinner.😂😂
I love to watch your videos guys :)
Great video!
Stunning sunset 😍
Loving the longer videos, excellent work enjoyed every minute ❤
Great episode! Thanks for giving us a glimpse into the life. I have heard that many cruisers are now avoiding Costa Rica altogether because of their check in/out and animal restrictions.
I'm glad you enjoyed the episode! Costa Rica does have some strict regulations, but it's still a beautiful destination for many cruisers.
Great episode.....❤
I have been enjoying your videos so nice to see you both enjoying your adventures .Think itsa fantastic achivement , keep it up and best wishes and good winds.
Very glad you had such a good experience in Panama.
So nice hearing that engine purr! I have so much I want to thank you two sailors for but I don't know where to begin. I'll start with that beautiful sunset leaving Panama!!
I absolutely love following you two, you come across as an incredible couple❤️. Thanks for this extra length video, really enjoyed it❤️❤️
I am awe of your fantastic achievements and look forward to every post on RUclips. I was berthed round the corner from you in Mayflower Marina, following your preps and initial sea trials and here you are now. What an adventure! Stay safe.
The longer videos are the best on the tube❤❤
Great vid!
I wish you all had netted a couple of those red crabs to show us.. maybe next time.
That epic sunset!!! I’ve never seen anything like it!!
Liking the musical vibe in this one guys
That is a pretty neat tub chair. It looked like you were really comfortable and enjoying yourself, Becka. Nothing like daybreak or was that sunset. An amazing lightening storm.
Nearing 100k subs! Exciting prospect...
Nice video, really nice!!
Quality content. 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Lovn it
Great episode! You guys look very happy!! I have a cruising tip for you……S/V Basil a.k.a. Onboard Lifestyle have a great series of videos of their trip from Mexico down to Costa Rico (fyi they are a cat with a crew of 3). They are actually now through the Panama Canal and in San Blas. But their videos are behind real time and you should watch them in reverse order. The one out in the last few days is from a small bay in Costa Rico. You should watch all their videos so you can see the interesting spots that they have visited. Lots of great tips and great people. Very cautious and competent sailors.
I just can't get enough of you guys it's all beautiful I will never get to see it 💞 that I watching it with you guys keep up with the sailing around the world ❤❤
Hey Becka & Zach loving the extended episode, loving every minute and like I said can’t wait until the next one, take care both safe sailing. ❤
Cheers for catching a Bonito. My boats name is Bonito.
(a 32ft steel sailing yacht from 1964)
Nice 😊
Longer the better…💯 Can pause and watch unlike live
My sis loved teaching in Costa Rica and I love the long video
Almost 100k subscribers guys. You are doing great and soon, to another adventure. Have a great stay in Costa Rica.
Who Else Loves These Young Kids. They Are Bloody Doing It For Right Reasons. I want to Thank You both for Your Kindness And Support to folks you didn’t even know a week ago and then you were blessed them with a reach out to all those that were watching your last episode for help of A Starlink Network for that family. And you Did It. Also noticed that you caught up with a couple of your sailing buddies after you break down. ❤❤❤. Also I recommend staying at Playa Del Coco anchorage it’s a great place to reprovision and stocking up. We vacation there in the past or as you would say it holiday there. We love watching your travels. Please set your PayPal account back up. I’m sure a lot of us would like to help. ❤❤❤❤
Not far off 100k subs, let's get this channel up to 100k. Great video, as always ❤
Love the goggle-lasses
Really enjoying your adventures! A suggestion . . . A light wind foresail, such as an asymetrical spinnaker or drifter makes a huge difference when the wind drops. Used ones aren't expensive.
Question . . . How does tacking or gybing work with the double headstays? Does the genoa get hung up between them?
Really enjoyed this one! Well done.
Glad to hear it!
Another great video! ⛵️
Thanks again!
