I will have to relisten to this in the light of the comments I am now reading, but I will say that for me the Impromptu No. 3 in A Flat Major is my absolute favorite of all of Faure's solo piano works that I have yet encountered.
alger3041 it's lovely when it's played well like it is here. However, it's brutally difficult to play all the way through well. For me, a Chopin etude is less brutal than this In a lot of ways..
For my taste, in the first impromptu the bass becomes too loud too fast and not in the context of the soft dynamic, but then, it melts into a beautiful serenade sort of - and then i want to hear someone actually singing which happens in 2:05 which is kinda late because the serenade starts earlier. f minor impromptu is fascinating to watch your fingers and hear the sound come out - it's really amazing! My absolute favorite is the A flat impromptu.
One wonders why the Ist Impromptu is never played. It is a gorgeous piece and masterfully played by this pianist. In general, all 3 of these pieces were played impeccably, but I like the tempo of the 2nd Impromptu to be slower. The rhythmic bounce of the triplets is lost when played at such a fast tempo.
Very nicely played! I used to play #3; and I do disagree with a few of Cranmer's decisions on touch and release of pedal. But other than those minor points, well done!
The Faure' played is stunning. The ebb and flow of each phrase was totally satisfying.
congratulations, very well played, Gabriel Faure's impromptus 2 and 3 are my favorites
7:58 My favorite of Fauré

Great playing!
The f minor is played brilliantly, but without a hint of flirtation or seduction.
