2:43:45 I remember seeing that live in 2004 lol and laughed cuz he said shit on national TV which right now its not a big deal but back then they socked him points and he was racing for the lead at Atlanta and got taken out and, had he not got a language penalty and finished Atlanta then there is your 2004 Nascar Champion. That was his year with the Daytona 500 and 6 wins and that's a damn shame.
It's a shame how things went at DEI towards the end. It sucks that we didn't get the chance to see more of the 2003-2004 Dale Junior that had the correct balance of skill and good equipment to compete for championships. The 2004 Atlanta race still breaks my heart. Not only for the impact it had on his championship chances that season, but for the downward domino effect that it started at DEI. Things would have been a lot different at DEI if junior had won that championship and the 15 and 8 teams hadn't swapped cats and crew chiefs the way they did
What junior did there in the last five laps of this race was simply one of the most incredible things that I have ever seen as a lifelong fan of nascar. You can't deny greatness when it is happening right in front of you
And it only took him 2 laps to get to first, imo this was better than when he went from 6th to 1st at the Pepsi 400 in ‘01. Junior was in a league of his own at the superspeedways from ‘01 to ‘04
It really is, gives me chills hearing. Shades of his father the way drove through the pack with ease there at the end. Reminds me of his dads run at the same race four years earlier. "How did he get through all them cars!!??"
One of JR's best chances of winning the championship, and one could only wonder if, and how many, he would've won if Sr would've been alive to help him along his career. A shame too because he definitely had the talent and the resources to be a champion, but I think needed the invaluable intangibles his dad could've helped him with, outside of the restrictor plate races. Certainly would've undoubtedly stayed with DEI his whole career, as they would've remained a top team without Teresa running the company into the ground. It was bad enough NASCAR never truly recovered after SR's death, but she just added insult to injury with her mishandling of things, when she should've just stepped away into a minority role. As she didn't have a damn thing to do with their success ever!
When Junior had a car that could take him where he wanted to go he was so hard to beat at these tracks. Like during his dei days and also during his plate resurgence at Hendrick later in his career. During that whole charge on the last restart you knew each move he was going to make before he even made it and knew that he was going to make it work whether his opponent saw it coming or not
Nascar 06 total team control challenge Kevin Harvick 29 Gm Goodwrench Chevy A Little Help From My Friends 2:20:02,2:34:56 In the race he was in the 2004 version of the GM Goodwrench Chevy alongside his teammates in the race Jeff Burton in the 30 AOL Chevy and Robby Gordon who was in the 31 Cingular Wireless Chevy as Harvick was leading until lap 186 he got passed by Dale Earnhardt JR in his Budweiser Chevy and wished that Robby in the 31 would've been able to push the 29 to the win. In the challenge he was in the 29 GM Goodwrench 20 Years Version of the car with his teammate then Burton in the 31 car in the game as the player had a chance to recreate history by having Harvick to get a push from burton past the 8 car with 2 laps to go to put Harvick in victory lane at Talladega.
This race was my first nascar race to attend I’m remember everything down to hearing jr saying shit on the headset I was wearing. We were sitting right on top of the start finish line
Obviously, does else anybody know that this was IndyCar driver Sarah Fisher’s 1st and (sadly) only NASCAR start (Aside from being in the RCR Development program)

Why don't they use highlights from this race to show the performance of dei during this time period I remember the race clearly but whenever they do highlight clips you never see 12 first and six laps from this race
Jr should have watched is mouth he would have won the title if he wouldn't have cussed on tv I'm a Jr fan and that was his mistake otherwise he would be a cup champion before he retired so that's my opinion but still awesome race at my favorite track

fucking lol, Godhardt Jr was the architect of that crew swap. Tired of you 40 IQ fans acting like the entirety of the sport conspired against him.

Yes I can and do
I miss those golden 2004 NASCAR cars.
Back then Benny Parsons used to call Jr "Dale Earnhardt". Maybe he missed saying it on broadcasts, regardless it was always good to hear
Our first Dega race. Were very drunk before the race even started. Ran around shouting DEI to everyone. Great day that "Didn't mean SHIT"
This was and still is my #1 favorite race I ever watched.
Man! Look at this eight car go! That is a classic statement.
It really is, gives me chills hearing. Shades of his father the way drove through the pack with ease there at the end. Reminds me of his dads run at the same race four years earlier. "How did he get through all them cars!!??"
Amazing how he went through the pack to win like it was nothing. He was untouchable on the superspeedways from '01 to '04.
@@scottpetersonpeterson8147 hi scott.
It was the best of times.
Best race I ever watched. The race was almost perfect. It would of been perfect if Waltrip finished 2nd and Dale didn't cuss in victory lane.
The latter part of your statement made it perfect haha
Dale JR intro 2:36:22
Nascar 06 Total Team Control
He's no Allen Bestwick, but nice passion from Bill Webber on this broadcast.
Better than Rick Allen for sure.
Back when there were cars left at the end of Daytona/Talladega.
I was there at this race, it was awesome!
Damn that 8 car was amazing in the last few laps! What a finish!
WELL IT DONT MEAN S*** DADDY WON HERE 10 TIMES!
What a finish!!

Audio is WAY too low
Glad Elliott Sadler was ok

How they didn’t have a 20+ car Big Wreck in this race!
Anyone notice at the beginning the ticker said “lap 1 of 400” ?
Yes.
He walked to the front from the restart
"it don't mean shit" *micdrop*
Webber sounds drunk at times like he got his wisdom teeth taken out the day before or something
Imagine losing a possible championship because of the word shit. It was the beginning of hate of nascar
That didn't hurt his chances, finishing 33rd 2 weeks in a row did that
Jr should have watched is mouth he would have won the title if he wouldn't have cussed on tv I'm a Jr fan and that was his mistake otherwise he would be a cup champion before he retired so that's my opinion but still awesome race at my favorite track
When you're happy, you do say some cuss words lol.
Joe Rauch that doesn't mean shit now, does it?
@@CloudStrife8894 quarantine and after 2020 nascar season forced us to relive this.
Audio sucks.
Ugh hard to listen to Webber and Daulenbach……...
