Ryan Blaney edges Ryan Newman at Talladega in unbelievable photo finish | Motorsports on NBC
/ nbcsports - Спорт
When somebody asks me why I prefer NASCAR over F1 as a European, I'll just show them this video.
Blaney has a habit of only winning races in the craziest, nail-biting ways (2017 Pocono, 2018 Roval, 2019 Talladega)
Mitchcario Trimm He looks he’s on his way to challenging the consecutive seasons with a win streak.
I wouldn't count Pocono '17 as nail biting. That was just a good, hard fought battle between he and Harvick.
2020 Talladega
2020 Talledega
2020 Talladega
I had completely forgotten about this. There are so many parallels between this and the end of the 2020 Daytona 500. The 11, the 6, the 12, the photo finish, the crash in the trioval. Crazy
This race was a 10/10 I really hope nascar keeps this package for a long time
Noe Hernandez 2 amazing races at talladega in a row
Maybe not the package for all the tracks but the removal of restrictor plates and added bigger spoilers and tapered spacers at the super speedways are providing good racing
Austin Beasley I don't care what anyone says, I love the look of the huge spoilers lol.
They should keep them on big tracks, but on small tracks be gone
@@velociviper77 Yeah I agree.
Man it seems as though spinning out during these chase races then going on to win has been a trend lately. Truex at Richmond, Elliott hits wall head on at Charlotte, now Blaney at Talladega. Awesome lol!
zZ
Chase idk how he did it he forgot to turn XD
Im happy someone different
Crazy how similar this is to the finish at daytona 2020
Same 3 drivers it is crazy
They were fighting for every position very aggressively because every position is points, but Blaney did the sideways move on Newman and he still almost already aggressively went around
Had Newman stayed low he would have won. Why he moved up I have no clue.
Mr. Aggressive
Rick Allen is a douse!
@@da324 Blaney faked high if I saw correctly
Oh prawblems around goes aggressive those are some major playoff implications
The Ryan and Ryan show
Derp!
Hello Newman's
BEST FINISH OF THE YEAR!
That was crazy
Watching this race helped turn this boring Monday into a good one and ending on top of that with an amazing finish. The margin of victory was 0.007, just wow
Thats a wild finish
HOLY COW! WHAT AN FINISH!
No wonder he'll be back again next year in the 12, The kids got talent 👏👏
Man I wanted Newman to get a win so bad
KEEP THIS PACKAGE!
"Mcqueen still not here didn't he pull this off when he was a rookie at least thats what my grandfather told me"-ryan "inside" laney
I loved the crews reaction.

MY

OPINION
By the way, my prediction to win actually won
And that’s a fact
Best race of the year in nascar* not all motorsport😂
10sBalls123 Indianapolis 500, IndyCar gateway race, F1 German Grand Prix, Petit Le Mans this past weekend, etc.
this was an entertaining race not gonna lie but not a good one tho with all those wrecks
f1 had sever better races, but when you find it cool to have only crashes. oh yeah, forgot your american you can only appreciate crashes and drama.
10sBalls123 Imagine thinking margins of victories determine whether or not a race is good lol
Indy was actually better because it got rid of the asinine easy to pass back and forth package and went back to what you saw at Gateway. Similar racing is going on at Indy just over the course of 500 miles rather than 300 at Gateway. Pit, fuel, and track positioning has come back to being ultra important as well as keeping it clean the first 3/4 of a race. While the road/street/ and oval races outside the 500 milers tend to be more of a sprint with more aggression early on they are still playing out in a similar manner, just in a shorter distance. IndyCar racing is built on the long game, something the old IRL pack racing package and the post Wheldon aero kits didn't allow to shine.
looked like a C fixed truck race out there
Ikr
iRacing you guys gotta get verified on youtube lol
Best finish of the year! I thought that “Rocket Man” was gonna win it! But what a freaking awesome finish! 7 one-thousandths of a second, the 6th closest finish in NASCAR history! Also, hard hits for Chris Buescher and Parker Kligerman, glad both of them are ok. I thought Buescher was gonna go in the catchfence! I’m just glad that they are ok.
Out of curiosity what was the time separation in between 3red & 4th place?
sledhead88
Not sure.
@@sledhead88 I think I saw 0.001 secs
Michael West where did you see that
Buescher just loves getting air at Talladega.
He does
Gaughan got a sample of it, too...
Yup 2016 barrel roll
2017 ?
2018 ?
2019 #1 slammed into by 95
2019#2 hits wall and go on side and on most blowover
Insane save by Newman... he showed a lot of respect to Blaney at the finish... could have definitely blocked him more aggressively.
Probably afraid of what happened yesterday to Sauter for blocking. Which is called NASCAR Racing. Do not understand why they do not want competition anymore.
@@JRBrittain If you can't pass below the line, then you shouldn't be able to block someone below the line. It's simple
@@DerrickRG For the record newman never went below the line and sauter barely did due to getting loose
@@JRBrittain lol sauter drove himself down there, herbst should have turned him
These edging streaks are getting crazy
The superspeedways this year have been the best they've been in 15 years. Gives me vibes of 2001, maybe even better.
at 1:31 Dale Jr. says Ramen Newman like Ramen noodles lol
HOW ABOUT THE ROUND OF EIGHT BOYS?!! LETS GOOO!!!
Dang those were hard hits in the wall... And thanks for gettin in the booth DALE its appreciated by lifelong "GOD'S" FAVORITE SPORT fan... hope the only thing thats hurt today is few teams pride....
THAT WAS AMAZING
The one time someone was able to pass Newman...
Lmao
Oh, touché 😂
This race haunts me in my dreams and every time I see this finish,I get very intimidated
Not for me
Neck a No-Neck to the line.
Better Blaney than no Neck
WHYYYYY WHYYYY
Cant really say that joke right now
Yea that joke is dead
This puts a smile on my face
Legend says that nobody still knows who got 3rd place.
I lost a race in NASCAR Heat 5 2022 like this, same track, same margin: 0.007 seconds
So proud of my driver Blaney!!! Beautiful entertaining finish!
Are you the owner?
Orange Buffoon nope! Just a loyal happy fan. Go Blaney!
Loved the finish great action
Who’s here after 2020 Dega
1:37
Parker Kligerman: Heres what I think of your guys Chevrolet Alliance
1:39
Never mess with the Chevy's
Great call by Rick👍
Give it to the Stinkhouse for making it to the finish line on the last lap! Miracles can happin.
Amazing i love nascar
Man sometimes when we get something amazing or looks like a miracle BAM someone in a top team just swoops in and kills the moment. hate when that happens
Great race!!!!
Nascar é melhor que fórmula 1.
best race package ever thanks to NASCAR blaney good for you
Flashbacks to dega 2020
Underdog Results:
Micheal McDowell 5’Th.
Corey Lajoie 7’Th.
Ty Dillon 10’Th
Ross Chastain 12’Th
Matt Tifft 13’Th
Landon Cassill 14’Th
Parker Kligerman 15’Th
Reed Sorenson 22’nd
Thank goodness for those safer barriers. Those were some hard hits. Wish half more than half the field wasn't wrecked, but this was an awesome finish! Heck of a finish! I may have actually rooted for Roadblock Newman a bit there. Lol.
Ironic that Newman lost to his old ride. 💁🏾♂️
Wooooo! Finally got one!!!!
Is no one gonna talk about McDowell up there in 5th?
No, because half the field is gone.
I hope he gets that win one day
I SKIPPED 3 HOURS OF THANKSGIVING TO WATCH THIS RACE, WORTH IT!
Ryan(Blaney) beats another Ryan(Newman)
Ranking the best races of 2019. This one is easily #1 on the list.
Garbage glad I didn't watch after shitbag 22 took half the field out
tony dawson Alright kid, first of all, that wreck was ALL Bowman; he even admitted to it.
Second of all, a young lad like you should not be on the internet without parental supervision because what you say on here can cause someone to be VERY mean to you.
Ryan and Ryan to the line
Are we not gonna talk about Chris Buscher sailing in the air
Seems unlikely
Good thing he is okay though
For the second Talladega race in a row
Isn't this his 2nd time doing that at Talladega not counting the 3rd when he flipped in '17?
@@JRBrittain yep. 2nd in a row too. 2020 is gonna be interesting for him at Talladega and Daytona
I wish Newman would have been won and that was Ryan & Ryan Show
JR was spot on, with his last lap prediction.
Jr. knows restrictor plate races.
Happend this year just with spinhouse
My 2 drivers finish 1 & 3. Sweet.
This was again in Daytona 500
How about the finish with Almirola and Hamlin! THAT was close
0.001
You had ONE JOB, Newman! ONE! FREAKING! JOB!
SteamsDev what more could he have done? He probably wrecks the field if he blocks.
He did his job, somebody just did there's better this time.
@@SHA8UTIE He stays low coming off the last turn and makes Blaney go around, that's what... he blew it.
@@da324 Blaney would have had the same momentum either way. Ryan blocked him high but if he blocked him again he probably would have wrecked the field. The difference was that Almirola pushed Blaney the entire way. Hamlin had a chance to come give Newman a final push and a sure win but went to the outside instead.
For anybody who's interested, RUclipsr Soundhead Entertainment completely coincidentally re-enacted Blaney/Newman's photo finish at Talladega on Nascar Heat! Look up his channel!
HECK YES!!!!
#12
Maybe if Newman had a neck, he would have edged out Blaney
Burnt!
This is honestly one if the best Talladega races of this decade. Easily top 3
GG's to Ryan Blaney for getting the win
1:35 again
This was awesome. This is my first season watching NASCAR, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. Are there drivers racing here not in the playoffs and if so why?
Everyone races in the playoffs otherwise the field would be way empty. Non-playoff drivers can win races but not earn points, & playoff drivers are out there for points.
Ah yes double Ryans at photo finish
Welp another spin and win
You spin equals you'll probably win
Blaney did WHAT?
"Have you ever..."
No I've never
Transitioning out of the replay to see Bubba and Blaney rubbing doors was adorable. I shed a single tear and clapped.
Indy Guest really😂
How about Hemric's save at 1:38 after he got into Kligerman.
I thought he was a goner for sure!!
If that wasnt on the last lap... That would be one of the best saves ever
Wait I see that Ryan newman forced blaney below the yellow line
Correct me if I am wrong but I feel like the big spoilers on top of the side force is causing more flipping like when we had the C.O.T
The only car to go upside down was pushed by two other cars at the same time. Almost all flips in the last two years have been impact related and not aero.
more superspeedways, less short tracks
More short tracks, more road courses, less 1.5 mile tracks.
OOFS in the chat for newmen
Pizzaking148 ?
SHA8UTIE he barley lost that’s a oof lol
Can Newman please win a race?
GatoradeCupSeriesX94 I am fine with him not winning
Oof
Two tires were below the yellow line
let me point some things out mostly involving the last lap
lets go back to Haleys xfinity win at Daytona that was took away, he went below the double yellow line then came up to improve position, so did Blaney but no call was made on Blaneys side this time when they did it to Haley in the Xfinity series
Thought 2 : The locking bumpers, thought they changed that a while back to where they could not do it anymore? Sure did not allow it in the other 3 plate tracks this year.
Point 3, when the 37 car wrecked in the trioval, caution should of waved freezing the field when he made impact. the freeze would clearly shown Newman out in front of Blaney. However no caution was called not after 1 hit or 2. They finished under green even though the cars involved was in a danger spot involving heavy hits by both. Not only did NASCAR fail to enforce some rules today they showed the lack of knowledge they have with their rule book.
However though. The great race, side by side, 2-4 wide action, wrecks, flips, entertainment and excitement with a wild finishing order hit all of NASCAR's wrong doings today and made this race. The best. Of the year.
JR Brittain if Blaney is leading when that wreck happens they probably throw the caution.
@@SHA8UTIE probably due to they play favorites
but for newman since he had a clear lead nope let blaney get by with his stuff
do not understand why newman is so disrespected by the nascar community and nascar
@@LorenzoBrunoBossio they should have finished the Spring Race in that case.
@@SHA8UTIE another point there good bring up i forgot that one
that was at the same spot as this time, caution waved then with 1, should of been waved with 2 here.
Didn't SpongeBob predict this
next time I will go to taladega
Penske is soo good at racin
should have finished race last night in the rain like IMSA
Rain at an Oval going 200 is not a good idea
Would of got someone killed. No way not at 200 mph. If they raced this wild in good weather and had the insanity like this I would hate to see what you are thinking of.
Ovals are a completely different creature than a road course my giy
Jason Bowlin IMSA coming off the corners at a slow pace is a lot safer than racing in an oval at 200mph
Lo de blaney era para sancion
Newman blaney and Hamlin, hmmmm i see a common theme there always there when it matters
umm spoiler alert.
Have you ever?
I have never
Well, a couple of times
NO I HAVE NEVERRR
Wish Denny would have given Newman one more push at the end but he thought he could win it and went outside.
He didn't need a push. He had the lead, all he needed to do was stay low off the last turn.
@@da324 he would have gotten beaten to the outside. He could have blocked him more for sure but he showed him respect.
Newman got beat by his old car
Why didn't NASCAR throw the caution??? The rule is if there's a wreck on the last lap, a caution will be thrown
In the spring race they threw a caution immediately on the big wreck in the last lap. The difference was that a fan favorite (Elliott) was leading as opposed to Newman.
They should've thrown out the caution when Buscher and Kligerman hit the wall
But no since Blaney is in a "Penske" car, they didn't throw out the caution
Newman is your real winner and people with common sense will see that too
Ryan Newman got screwed by all 3 Penske cars at talladega
Buescher could of fliped
NASCAR rule 0U812; no passing or advancing position by going below the double yellow line for any reason (unless we dont like the other driver)
Yep. I bet it the situations are reversed they also would have thrown an immediate caution on that last wreck.
@@SHA8UTIE No caution on a white flag lap.
@@store4books they literally threw a caution on the white flag lap of the spring Talladega race...
Fords (mostly Team Penske) are always lucky to win at talladega. I wish a Toyota or Chevrolet driver would get a win instead Fords (except SHR and Roush Fenway racing)
1:40 .... incredible fake and move by Blaney
I thought Gaughan was gonna win.
No he had a flip out
Same thought here until he flipped, was going for that lead
