@-ragingpotato-937 there's a significant difference between 2001 and 2020. The Dale crash didn't happen at the start/finish line. NO ONE, not even the crowd, suspected anything wrong with Dale. His crash was not as spectacular, nor was it as brutal as Ryan Newman's. Denny Hamlin, sitting on pit row, especially after he took the flag, KNEW there was a crash. All of the teams called it out. He could also SEE the upside-down, crumpled car of Ryan Newman surrounded by safety personnel. In a world post-Dale Earnhardt, you would think there would be some kind of concern. Jr. showed concern after his 2015 win when Austin Dillon went into the fence. He showed concern from the MOMENT he crossed the finish line even when it was behind him. DH is a pos. There's no two-ways about it.
@@V8_Diva No one knew here either. Denny for sure had no clue it happened. Plus regardless if Denny celebrates or not changes nothing for Newman's health. In fact I'd rather see a driver go out and Celebrate and keep the crowd's focus away from Newman. Otherwise it just creates unneeded panic for the fans.
I never realized just how close Newman was to winning that 500. He was probably less than 100 feet. Junior didn't celebrate until he knew everyone was okay, including the fans. If Denny didn't know how bad that wreck was, his team should've told him unless his radio was off....
