Hi Mel, I hope your well. Thanks for your videos and keeping them different and interesting. I think one of them in this video I was trying to squish into a small but I did actually have medium paid on the mailer I had just grabbed the wrong mailer and then soon realised. I don't often make mistakes on the shipping size as I pick the orders first and any I'm not sure of I will check for the size before purchasing the label. Not another cold Mel! Do look after yourself, drink plenty of water and rest as much as you can. Especially after that enormous amount of orders. I wonder what the total number of books were actually sold as there were quite a number of bundles. Congrats on all the sales. Nice to see a different type of video although I missed your lovely giggle. Xxx
I know! This is the second nasty cold/flu I have had since "C" in March! My immune system must still be down. My whole family has this cold now. Lucky I have a slow week planned for this week and I altered this video to accomodate how I was feeling. xxx
This is one of my favorite videos. It’s making my work day go faster. I never thought I’d enjoy a video of just someone packaging. On another note, hope you start to feel better!
Thanks for the video Mel. As someone who's spent the first year as a reseller trying to re-use as much packaging as possible and always coming up against finding the right box, it's fascinating to see how versatile the larger padded mailers can be :)
Praying you feel better soon Mel! Sending you blessings and peace and please take good care of yourself and your family as it is so easy to get run down from working too much!! Xo Danuta
My whole family has this bug now, my older son had it first and now we all have it. My immune system might be a little low still since "C". Thank you, I'm having a quiet week this week now.
I am a collector of bluray and dvd's, many purchased from ebay (as well as from thrifting),. It is a good practice when posting them to sandwich a small piece of bubble wrap between the disc and the inside of its cover to prevent it from popping out of its hole. I have had some sent where the disc is scratched because it has become loose inside it's case. Obviously it's not possible to do on sealed items, but on opened second hand ones, it is something collectors appreciate and I always give great feedback to sellers who do it.
Interesting I have never heard of anyone doing that. Thanks for the tip. I don't really sell many DVD's but I will remember this for next time. I obtained some in a big haul so have those listed but I mostly focus on my books.
There was something very therapeutic about this video Mel. I only wish we had padded mailers as large at our Post Office in the US as the ones you have in Australia. We have to go to boxes and the costs become very expensive. Feel better soon!
Wow! You have such an ultra refined packing method, even down to the tear off strip motion from left to right and straight into the bin! With your items all being the same shape, just different sizes, makes the whole process so much quicker! At 11:20 I noticed was the only time you put the label on the padded mailer before inserting the book into the packet ( I think you had an issue with that particular item and momentarily broke the rhythm perhaps! ). Loved the video, I watched all of it. Wishing you feeling better soon Mel !!
Your right! I noticed the book was dirty so I cleaned it and then set it aside to dry and it did get me out of routine and when I went back to find the sticker that was getting buried I peeled it off and had to put it on the mailer as I didn’t have the book packed! Great observation! Thank you for watching all of that Ian!
Mel, Just discovered your youtube channel this morning! You are an inspiration to us ebay book sellers. I am beginning in August 2022 to sell on ebay Full Time, and I have a garage full of books. Thanks for your hard work sharing your reseller knowledge. My best to you and your family! Mike in US.
Just came across this one. You said you didn't feel well that day and felt worse as day went on. Work must go on, unfortunately. Thank you for sharing it with us. Always enjoy your videos but the silence and you being in the grove was so relaxing and enjoyable. This makes me want to get up and fill my orders. Nah, its Saturday night. I'll wait til tomorrow. ;) Thanks so much!
Thank you! I do have the process very smooth now, the simpler the better! When I have all individual books going out it feels sooooo easy. The bundles can take a little more work shipping just due to all the taping and wrapping.
Very relaxing to watch your smooth system! I fell asleep watching last night and it really was exactly what I needed to calm and cool off the busy brain before bed. Will do the same with the second half tonight!
How do you make sure you're packing the right order when you print off all the labels at once? I tend to print as I pack each order as a last check to make sure I'm sending the right item to the right person. The only other way I can think of is to print off packing slips, if I start getting a lot of orders and then do as you do... I'd be interested in seeing that part of the process, if you have a different system.
Great video Mel. Very motivating for us we have a ton of books to list and sell. I've always been worried that putting them straight into a mailer isn't enough padding but you've convinced me. We will be adopting the Mel Method!
I send thousands a year and have never had a complaint. The Australia Post mailers are thick, strong and water resistant. I feel very safe sending them in them.
Does anyone else enjoy packing items and the best part is when you make the padded mailer smaller to fit the book better. Or am I just weird!!!!!!!! Loved this vlog. Congrats on big sales……. Mel! 🙌
I would be very interested in your postage process, particularly why you use certain envelopes rather than prepaid satchels, what each item costs you in postage, just general advice to the best and cost effective postage process.
My packages are sent as flat rate so I pay by the mailer size (Small, Med & Large). This is why I pick all the orders first before printing my labels so I know the size of the mailer label I need to purchase. The Australia Post flat rate mailers all have a weight limit of 5kg (11pounds). I use padded mailers because otherwise I would have to spend time wrapping the books in bubble wrap to put in a poly mailer as a basic poly mailer will not protect the book alone.
Yes there is a reference section so when your printing them you can write anything you want. So I just write an abbreviation of the book name that I will easily recognise.
OCD kicking in around the 26:00 mark when I wanted to push that large mailer back onto the shelf for you 😂 Loved watching this and working with you on my own/other things 💕
Good background noise video for motivation while i'm listing. You have a great shipping station and you're super fast. Mine's currently a disaster area and I'm much slower but someday I'll get to your level. Hope you feel better soon.
Greetings Mel, wow 🤩 so many sales. Adding a video to your eBay stores did increase your sales. I’m going to spruce up my work area and add my video. Thanks for Sharing 🧘🏾♀️🪴
I will do an update soon on the sales since making the eBay store video. I uploaded that on the 28th June so I will wait to the 28th July when I have a month worth of data.
Another great video Mel. You make it look so easy but it's clear that if you set yourself up and have a system, it can be easy! You take care of yourself and get better soon 🙂
So true! It's all about the systems! The more you niche down the easier shipping becomes. My shipping station works perfectly for my business and I it does allow me to work faster with everything so close to me. Thank you!
Love this type of video. Very helpful. At about the 29 min mark I thought no way is she going to get those in one of those padded envelopes. You definitely proved me wrong.
Thank you, you would be surprised how many books I can get into the mailers, they do hold a lot and all have a 5kg (11 pounds) weight limit which is quite a heavy.
I like the different sizes of mailers you have. I can only order one size, the others I have to go to the post office to get, and they don’t like when you take multiple pieces. 😂
You could use a 2" Industrial desk tape dispenser for your shipping tape. It will greatly optimise your packaging routine since you won't have to hold it when you are grabbing tape. Here in Canada Uline is selling those. It's is looking like a giant adhesive tape dispenser but for shipping tapes (it's not a tape gun, it's staying flat on the desk).
@@backfromburnout It will definitively help you to gain a few seconds for each parcels you are using tape. You will free the hand that used to grab and hold the tape gun. You could use this hand to place the poly at the good position near the dispenser and do the taping in one operation instead of two. It took me a week to get used to it but I won't go back to the tape gun unless if I am taping big boxes. With the number of package you are doing, it will do a difference if you get used to it. Another option will be to find a mailer that is in between the med and larger size, so you won't have to use tape at all and skip the whole tape operation. You will save time, but if you have another size of mailers it will take more space to store them on your shelf.
@@Nicolas-ic4dt I will search for a tape dispenser to buy. I use the Australia Post branded mailers so I can use their flat rate. If I use other sizes I have to enter weight and measurements which is time consuming.
That has happened to me as well.. randomly out of the blue I'll get a ton of orders. I think eBay'd algos just randomly selects sellers to move up the search based on how much you're listing
The struggle is real. The large padded mailers annoy the crap out of me, I often think I should buy shares in Cellotape with the amount I use on those bloody things.😜 Hope you feel better soon Mel.
It does slow me up the more bundles I have due to all the taping but I know the books arrive safe and thats the main thing. When I do the single books it's so easy and quite therapeutic.
Wondering.. instead of picking up the tape holder all the time, thinking it would be faster having large table tape dispenser. LOVED the vid. Get better soon. Glad you saved your energy by not speaking. 😊
great vid boss lady was good to just see your packing as your my book guy vid that i watch great sales great vid with the little msgs too watching on a monday while i pack orders
I had the SAME thing happen on Friday! One person sent in 11 offers! I sell clothing. Every few minutes I had a new offer from the same person. lol Needless to say I combined shipping and shipped it right out! I love those days!
On the labels when I print them there is a reference section. So I type an abbreviation of the book name/bundle in that section. So as I'm finishing one package I'm looking over at the next label to know exactly what the next book is I have to grab. Also when I pick the books I pick them in order so they generally are stacked up in the same order I package.
This is nice, it's like you're here working with me haha. Sorry to hear you're not feeling too well! Hope that passes quickly and congrats on the big order weekend :)
I'd love to have your problem with so many orders! I had zero orders this weekend even though I've been listing. Woke up to 1 order yesterday and a car that took a crap! Another order today but a $6,000 repair cost for the said hybrid car that needs 2 new batteries! I think I'll have a heart attack and oh had to walk to the store for bread 4 miles walking and I'm 52 heat index was about 100 degrees! So trade ya Mel! I'll even take your cold LOL
eBay is such a roller coaster, it goes up and down. It's always nice to have a big weekend but I still try to look on it on a monthly basis as it tends to even itself out with good weeks and bad. I just keep listing and trying to stay as consistent as possible. Stay positive a lot of people are in slow down season, sorry to hear about your car thats an expensive repair!
I sell on Amazon, but you’re really making me want to check out EBay! I have a few questions if you don’t mind: 1. Do you pay the shipping, or charge the customer? 2. Why do you open the front cover before you put it into the poly mailer? 3. Do you have to pay for the poly mailers, if so where’s the cheapest place to order? Thanks so much! I appreciate your videos!
there is something bizarrely soothing about you ripping sticky tape and packing books while I am busy doing other things - must mean you're a star - even with the sniffles
Loved watching this. I know this is an older video, but I’m new to reselling and shipping. How do you know how much the package will weigh/size before packing? Since you already have all of the labels printed? Also how do you know which book goes with each label? Thank you!
Hey! I use Australia Post flat rate padded sized mailers so they all can hold up to 5kg in weight. So whatever fits in the size I can send as long as it’s under 5kg and most orders are unless they’re large multi orders. I pick the orders first before printing my labels. Most books I can just tell what size mailer it will need by looking at it but by picking first I can clarify any I’m not sure about before paying for my label.
My packages are sent as flat rate so I pay by the mailer size (Small, Med & Large). This is why I pick all the orders first before printing my labels so I know the size of the mailer label I need to purchase. The Australia Post flat rate mailers all have a weight limit of 5kg (11pounds). Some of the thrift stores here write the price of the book inside in pencil. I just erase it before packing. :)
Hi Mel, just a quick question- I noticed @27.00 you had a Gore Vidal book that didn’t fit the small and I presume it ended up as a medium. Did you have to manually go back and adjust the shipping? Thanks for consistently great content!
From memory I had paid for the medium mailer but grabbed the small and was trying before I realised. But normally if I make a mistake I do just print a new label and request a refund on the mistake label. But because I pick the orders first I don’t often make a mistake because I cross check any I’m unsure of. So it’s not something I do regularly make mistakes on.
This is great. My bff and I do this (on opposite coasts), it’s called body doubling in the ADHD world; in grad school, I learned about it as “parallel play” - basically two people (so you, and us, the individual viewers) working/doing their own thing while in the “presence” of each other; it somehow helps people who struggle with analysis paralysis/depression/just general blah and not knowing where to start….
Yes, sometimes it's nice to just feel you are working alongside someone else. It can be relaxing not hearing anyone talk but just listening to them work in the background.
As always check 4 c-vid, my cousin thought she just had a cold, tested neg then tested pos a few days later and my aunt is very sick w c-vid now as well. Rest well after this amazing sales day!!
I had mixed emotions on thsi one today Mel and I don’t know if it's where my heads at or that I could only listen for so long to this with no background music, but I also appreciated the quiet too. I was able to do some of my own work while I did listen but at times it made me feel like I wasn’t being productive enough this is a me thing not a you and your video thing. Sorry you are not well again, have you thought about supporting your immunity with something like Vital greens powdered supplement? No I don’t sell it. I’ve been using it from last year in about August when I was fed up with getting sick all the time, its convenient tastes ok and has worked a treat. It helped around March when I also got C19 and after. It gives me energy and clarity but of course if your like me and tend to burn the candle at both ends some times you can still feel run down. Hope you get Well soon and congratulations on all your sales and success hun you work so hard you deserve it.
I knew this video wouldn't be for everyone but I do get lot's of questions about my shipping so I thought it would be a good time to make it while I was feeling under the weather. I do think my immune is low after "C" in March. I will look up vital greens on google and see what it is and where I might be able to buy it. I;m willing to try new things!
@@backfromburnout oh it wasn’t awful hun in fact I think you could do another one in the future as there would be heaps of people that will like it maybe it needs to be shorter which I’m guessing comes down to how many orders you need to pack and also how energetic you’re feeling. Were you feeling like you had to push yourself to keep going at any moments or am I just projecting that? I’m sure the good old McDonald’s days with the hour long rushes when you’re not up to it and the adrenaline kicks in helped you get through. I feel like it triggered that in me and the pushback to that that I’ve been feeling I feel like I’m going through my own burnout recovery this last 6 or 7 months now plus post C19 I’ve been up and down. Plus other health issues going on. The Vital greens are available at Chemist Warehouse I find at the most reasonable price and it lasts me a fair while too. I’ll send you a photo on Instagram msg.
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!!! We had a great few days as well. I wonder if it's the 33% increase from adding our video???? Didn't really expect any difference in sales, but maybe it has paid off. Cool vid :)
The labels have a reference section on them so I print the name of the book (an abbreviation of the book name/author). So it's easy to know what book goes with what label. I also pick them in order so most of the time the books are stacked in the order I will package them which also helps make it faster.
I wish I could pack like that. Even though I sequence my orders I still need to verify the item to address or I'll wake up in the middle of the night thinking I mixed up some orders. Nice video
Hi Mel, sorry not to keen on this style video, but, if you do decide to do another one, please could insert screen shots of the item, and what it went for. Sorry again
Thanks Darren, I knew this one wouldn’t be everyone’s type which is why I added the disclaimer. I didn’t intend it to be this video at the start of the day, it just kinda happened as the day progressed and I felt more and more unwell. I do try and screenshot and add to the videos when I can but this one had so many orders it probably would have added 3hrs of editing which I just wasn’t feeling up to at the time. But I understand it would have helped and I appreciate all feedback :)
Yes maybe! I will share an update on that soon. I’m giving it one month of sales to look at the sales differences. I did the video on the 28th June so I will compare on 28th July.

Lucky I have a slow week planned for this week and I altered this video to accomodate how I was feeling. xxx
Elderberry - my new go to at the 1st sign - take care.
Enjoyed watching you work 😊 The ease and quickness you can read your notes on which book is next is fantastic.
Thank you. It’s quite therapeutic packing lots of orders like this for me because I have a really good system and work flow happening.
That was unbelievable. I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it! You’re killin it girl!
Oh wow, thank you so much for watching it all. I almost didn't post it!
This is one of my favorite videos. It’s making my work day go faster. I never thought I’d enjoy a video of just someone packaging.
On another note, hope you start to feel better!
Thank you! I’ve been surprised at how many people enjoyed it!
Thanks for the video Mel. As someone who's spent the first year as a reseller trying to re-use as much packaging as possible and always coming up against finding the right box, it's fascinating to see how versatile the larger padded mailers can be :)
They are the best!
Whoop whoop go Mel! I stayed with you til the end! Hope you feel better.. glad it is just a cold.
Wow!! Thank you!
I love packing orders,it's my favorite part of the job. This was such a relaxing video to watch, I hope you're feeling better soon.
Thank you so much!
Great tip. I’m so happy I saw this reply. Thanks for sharing👍🏻
There was something very therapeutic about this video Mel. I only wish we had padded mailers as large at our Post Office in the US as the ones you have in Australia. We have to go to boxes and the costs become very expensive. Feel better soon!
Thanks Joe, glad you liked it!
Normally I clean the books before I photo them so that one was obviously missed!
Fantastic sales for a four day period. Enjoyed seeing the full packing process.
Yes it was great sales! I did a big post Friday afternoon so this was Friday from about 3pm onwards, Sat, Sun & Monday morning. So good!
Oh, forget to mention, I also ordered me some handheld wrap like you use, so easy.
You will love it!
Mel,
Just discovered your youtube channel this morning! You are an inspiration to us ebay book sellers. I am beginning in August 2022 to sell on ebay Full Time, and I have a garage full of books. Thanks for your hard work sharing your reseller knowledge. My best to you and your family!
Mike in US.
Thank you Mike! I appreciate you watching me! Good luck going full time soon and with all your book sales!
Don't even know how long I made it. Fell right to sleep. Had to come back to comment "Great sales" and a nice nap!! 🤣🤣
Ha ha ha, well they do they asmr can be relaxing and help put people to sleep so I'll take that as a win!
59 orders is incredible mel well done!
Yes it was crazy! It just was cha chinging all day lol
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Haha, simple as it was. Love to see how smoothly your shipping system works.
This video was relaxing when I posted my items to my shop 🙌🏼
That's awesome!
Good job, girl! Take care of yourself!
Thank you!
Mel! 🙌
I do find the shipping process quite therapeutic when I'm not rushing - especially when they're single books.
I also really like seeing the books I have sold :)
Great content
Never realised that the labels have the product name on them
Yes there is a reference section so when your printing them you can write anything you want. So I just write an abbreviation of the book name that I will easily recognise.
@@backfromburnout will keep that in mind for future
@@LetGetGaming It's the easiest way I have found and it works for me.
That’s great news about your sales. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!
OCD kicking in around the 26:00 mark when I wanted to push that large mailer back onto the shelf for you 😂 Loved watching this and working with you on my own/other things 💕
Ha ha ha, thank you
Hi Mel, greetings from the States. Very relaxing and therapeutic. Thank you.
Best Regards

Thank you Gary!
Although I sell mainly clothing, I love watching your videos and love your positivity, energy, and admire your hustle. Thank you for sharing!!
Good background noise video for motivation while i'm listing. You have a great shipping station and you're super fast. Mine's currently a disaster area and I'm much slower but someday I'll get to your level. Hope you feel better soon.
A good shipping station does make a huge difference!
Love these ASMR packing vids!! Hope you're feeling better Mel!
Thanks, I wasn't sure if anyone would like it but it seems to have gone ok x
Another great video Mel. You make it look so easy but it's clear that if you set yourself up and have a system, it can be easy! You take care of yourself and get better soon 🙂
So true! It's all about the systems! The more you niche down the easier shipping becomes. My shipping station works perfectly for my business and I it does allow me to work faster with everything so close to me. Thank you!
Congrats on all the orders.
Thank you
This video is one of my favorites!
Thank you, I'm glad so many people enjoyed it!
So satisfying just watching someone pack items for despatch
Congrats my friend. I saw Tech post your stacks
Thanks Marcus!
I have been wanting to buy one of those to try! Do you think it will be faster for me? I'm am all about doing anything I can to fasten a system
This was great to watch, and thanks for your explanation. Well Done.
I love a run of pop offs!
That has happened to me as well.. randomly out of the blue I'll get a ton of orders. I think eBay'd algos just randomly selects sellers to move up the search based on how much you're listing
I wondered if they were testing me to see if I could handle some extra traffic! I made sure I was shipping daily this week so they knew I could!
Therapy and wishful thinking for me watching this video. Thank you Ms Mel.
Thank you, I find the shipping quite therapeutic myself when I just work silently
I had the SAME thing happen on Friday! One person sent in 11 offers! I sell clothing. Every few minutes I had a new offer from the same person. lol Needless to say I combined shipping and shipped it right out! I love those days!
Woo hoo, I love multi orders. I had a lot of them this weekend.
How do you not mix up the orders? This was soothing to watch without music.
Congrats!!!!
Thank you so much
Congratulations, looks like fun
Thank you
Some nice sales over the weekend. It's strange how eBay can do that. I had almost no sales over the weekend and then yesterday over 600.00 in sales.
Oh wow! Boom $600!! Awesome sales day!
Well done Mel tons of sales 👏👏👏 hope you are feeling better soon 👍
Thank you! Still feeling like a truck has hit me but I will be okay in another couple of days x
Just sitting here doing listing while you pack- nice having someone working with me. Hope you feel better soon Mel.xx
Hahahah that’s funny yea I’ma do the same with my VR then xD
I am sitting here frying even with the AC on watching you in long sleeves as we hit 106 and a real feel of 116 I do hope you are feeling better
It's crazy how were all in different seasons! While I'm here in winter I'm hearing about heatwaves with record temperatures in UK!
Feel better! Take lots of vitamin C!! Amazing sales! Totally enjoyed the vid. Thanks!
Thanks so much! My husband just purchased some Vitamin C in bulk yesterday!
This is nice, it's like you're here working with me haha. Sorry to hear you're not feeling too well! Hope that passes quickly and congrats on the big order weekend :)
Reselling can be lonely so it’s nice to have virtual work colleagues! Thank you for watching!
@@backfromburnout thank you I appreciate it!
I sell on Amazon, but you’re really making me want to check out EBay!
I have a few questions if you don’t mind:
1. Do you pay the shipping, or charge the customer?
2. Why do you open the front cover before you put it into the poly mailer?
3. Do you have to pay for the poly mailers, if so where’s the cheapest place to order?
Thanks so much! I appreciate your videos!
that was super relaxing watching you pack over and over again... poor thing you're soo sick. Credit to you!!!
Hi Mel do you think the increase is anything to do with your new 1 minute clip you added to your store?
It might have, sales have been good.
there is something bizarrely soothing about you ripping sticky tape and packing books while I am busy doing other things - must mean you're a star - even with the sniffles
Ha ha ha, thank you for watching x
@@backfromburnout thank you so much!
That’s amazing!! Are all packages the same shipping cost?
What do you check for when opening each book?
My packages are sent as flat rate so I pay by the mailer size (Small, Med & Large). This is why I pick all the orders first before printing my labels so I know the size of the mailer label I need to purchase. The Australia Post flat rate mailers all have a weight limit of 5kg (11pounds). Some of the thrift stores here write the price of the book inside in pencil. I just erase it before packing. :)
@@backfromburnout thanks so much.
@@backfromburnout It looks like a lot of folks liked the vid! That’s very good news…
@@NoName-yl7hu I almost didn't upload it, I guess sometimes we don't know what people like until we try :)

Congratulations 🎊 so exciting. I was pretty stoked I made 9 sales over the weekend 🤪
Well done! 9 sales is awesome we're all at different growth levels. I'm excited you had a great weekend, it seems like quite a few people did!
I’ll send you a photo on Instagram msg.
questions:what do you look for when you open the cover?? How do you know which label correspond to that book?? Thanks for the video!!!
I can't believe I'm sitting here drinking me coffee, watching The Girl From Oz packing and shipping books ... and thoroughly enjoying

Ha ha. Thank you for watching! You didn’t even have to hear my Aussie voice rambling in this video lol
Holy smokes I thought I was busy with ebay sales, well done
It was a great weekend!
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!!! We had a great few days as well. I wonder if it's the 33% increase from adding our video???? Didn't really expect any difference in sales, but maybe it has paid off. Cool vid :)
It's hard to know but sales are up. I'll do an update when I have a month's worth of data on the 28th
I’m wondering how you know that the label you attach corresponds with the order you packed? Such great sales though. 👍
When you print each label there is a reference section that I can type anything into, so I write an abbreviation of the book name. :)
I can't imagine the chaos if you got your labels and books out of order! Every single one would go to the wrong person. How do you keep that straight?
But I understand it would have helped and I appreciate all feedback :)
maybe your little video about your business kicked in, or got featured by Ebay, grats on the sales!
Yes maybe! I will share an update on that soon. I’m giving it one month of sales to look at the sales differences. I did the video on the 28th June so I will compare on 28th July.
