    Thanks for bringing this issue to light but there’s so much incorrectness in this video and failure to address the root cause. It’s interesting whenever the topic of “bamboo ceiling” is brought up, it’s always the Asian Americans’ fault for being too Asian (not fitting in) and somehow ALL AAs must fit in this one stereotype. There are a lot of American born Asians with high education who speak perfect English and behave like their Caucasian peers. Let’s be honest, do they really get treated the same in corporate America? Somehow, we live in a perfect color blind country, sure keep believing that. For AAs, I see 2 options: open your business or hope that one day (hopefully before you retire) more Asian companies will become global players and they see the value in you. But then again, why do we have fewer options ? That’s the million-dollar question that corporate America and mainstream media always “miss”.

      Amen! That’s why I’m happy to see Chinese and Korean companies thriving, besides the Japanese companies that are already acknowledged! Although some will criticize China, Korea, and Japan, but their successes has put us Asian Americans more favorable in many markets in the West.

    This title is extremely misleading. It makes it seem as though Asians Americans who break the ceiling are succeeding, when in fact the bamboo ceiling is a systemic issue. You shouldn’t applaud a few for overcoming it if everyone else is still troubled by it.

    East Asian's hard work is out of our comprehensible senses. Their culture takes it for granted that you work hard. If you translate that mentality in America, they do twice or three times the work the average non-East Asian do, that includes other minorities. When they work hard for 200%, they only get credit for 110%. While White Americans get 100% work for 100% credit, since they set the standard. In reality, and technically speaking, Asians are far more qualified to dominate most academic fields. This isn't racism, or hate, this is purely speaking the truth. Asians are under-represented. You don't believe me? Go to Asia. Japan has 80hr work week, Korean students are in school for amost 15 to 20 hours per day. Things never close in Asia. Most shops are 24 hour. You know why? It's because Asian students don't have time during the day to work since they have school. They need to work at late night or early morning to work, not to mention a lot of family run business and restaurants simply won't survive to close earlier than their competition. When you take individuals from these environments to America, of course they should dominate. Right now, it's not a domination, as it should be. And they deserve it because they went through far more enduring pain of pressure and hardwork than we can ever imagine.

      *they waste 200% of time to get the same job done.
      I fixed that for you. It is well known that asian spent more times at work then they actually work. In asian countries (like Korea) it is inappropriate to leave the work before your boss, so people will just sit there doing nothing.

      If this were true, East Asians should be dominating in business by 200%, but they are not. The reason is because East Asians are not trained to think analytically.
      Don't compare the average American to East Asians in the US. East Asians in America = 4%. You need to compare the top 4% of White Americans with East Asians. Obviously, it is the top 4% of White Americans who dominate the upper managerial/executive seats in companies. If you make a fair comparison with the top 4% of Whites, obviously East Asians in the US have still much to learn about how to properly compete in the real market, e.g. East Asians in the US tend to be from working class families, usually 1st or 2nd generation college graduate, 1st generation home owners in the US, attends public school rather than private school, etc.

    • @mymagicloulou4394

      I agree. Asian tend to suffered lots because they lost in war against america. I reseached the history, the reason america win is because of the individuality itself, and we lose because we have collectivity that i call "slavery mentality" system. We asian have protocol mentality, that means we are self critical as society are critical to you.
      When things are in emergency, we instead wait to higher ups management for next instructions, while america people already analyzed the situation and goals, then move to reach the goals, they dont care if management against or not. That would mean we win in the group but we lost in the group too. That's the reason why we lost from america. Hardwork are just no more than demon's whisper created by business people so they can caged you mentality.
      In reality, those who win are those who are willing to take the risk.
      I am gonna ask question to you : how many times you always beat-up by america before you're satisfied?

    I learnt in being in the Air Force stationed in Japan, Korea and Philippines that you do not have to be loud and complaining that you are not being treated fairly but to stay on the road until the dirt, mud and rocks evaporates and smooth roads become the norm. Many African Americans can learn from Asian Americans about this issue. So I am thankful for having lived in those countries and learn things that help me today.

But I work in healthcare and every single one of my manager or supervisor or executive had been Asian, so far. • @H4rdstyl30wns

      If anybody really cares..I was thinking about the situation. It gets a little bit more complicated. These companies are located in the bay area, and apparently the bay area consist of approximately 30 % asian or so. Still, you have to factor in the % of asians and % of whites and % of whoever that actually make it into these companies to begin with.
      There is a simpler way of looking at it though.
      You look at the % of a company that is asian and a % of a company that is white. You then find out the % of asians or whites that make it to the leadership position. You compare those values. Those values are basically expressions of "How many of a racial group within a company is in the leadership position". And I took the time to look at google's data (you can find it on diversity.google). Indeed, there is a discrepancy, at least in google. The % of total whites that are in leadership position is 1.56 times the % of total asians that are in leadership position.
      Bottom line (for google): Within the company, whites are favored for the leadership position. Is this necessarily because of racism alone? Absolutely not. It's probably multifactorial. Could it involve racism? Yes.

    It's not even due to cultural difference misunderstandings, White people just like to help their own people employed and hold on to power. White people promote White people in decision making roles, the ethnics are only meant to be placed in operating roles. White people would prefer to give decision making roles to White candidates with no university or college degrees rather than the ethnic who's done a master. They say they prefer candidates with experience, but the trick is to provide work experience more readily to White people than ethnics. That way White people would always have that advantage. Also overseas work experiences don't count other than from Commonwealth Countries (White) when it comes to getting work in Australia. It saves White people a degree. This is corporate Australia for you. Look at universities, commerce students are 80% ethnic and 20% white these days, however graduate roles 80% who get a job is White and only 20% of grads are ethnic.
    When they hire an ethnic to fill the role of a White, they expect the ethnic to stay back, and generally less pay. Also in analytical roles, they prefer the ethnic to do the grunt work and give them the numbers to do decision making, saves them time. They would make important company information available to themselves and not keep the ethnic in the loop for the decision making, therefore Whites are always 1 step ahead. The ethnic would be given only instructions but not the why to get something done. Also key positions like data mining, are usually reserved for Whites to monopolise the entire information loop. information and data is power in an organisation.
    Now tell me which part of the above is due to cultural misunderstanding?

    • @Ecoean
      @Ecoean 4 года назад

      This is true. But all cultures practice this. Say Hispanic owned companies, black companies, Asian companies. All tend to promote within the race, and maybe have a few token “outsider” for PR

    • @Tizonwar8
      @Tizonwar8 4 года назад

      @@Ecoean I acknowledge that is true to some extent. However to hire someone without a degree over someone with a Master degree for a technical role, albeit entry level, is too light for the word preference its prejudice. Basically means there's nothing someone can do to improve their situation and social mobility is determined by race and what you for fun. That's when the frustration kicks in.
