I restored a classic car and used black walnut shells to airblast parts. Born in Belleville KS

I hunt in North Carolina off the yadkin River that has a slew of walnut trees when we go hunting you can see them on the ground by the hundreds but you can't take them

Was looking over the forest service nut hulling map to find the closest station, and I'm really surprised there's not one around Wichita or El Dorado on the Walnut river of all places. Would be a preferable to great grandmas method of running them over with the car several times.

We agree! We would love for more landowners to consider operating a hulling station so it is more feasible for people to participate.

Hammons is the company who supplies machines to KS hullers and they also have locations in Kentucky. You can contact them on their website: black-walnuts.com/

There are undoubtedly a lot of walnuts that don’t get harvested. Hopefully this encourages some to make the effort!

Something needs changed, people get hardly nothing, why not pick up and give to food pantry

Individuals are more than welcome to collect walnuts and donate them, but the labor to hull walnuts by hand can be intensive. It is a good practice to check with local food pantries about the types of produce or food they can accept.
