    Very nice, reminds me of the ProDisplay XDR (a little) but looks very tidy. I like the lack of branding on the front and the menu navigation is very cool.

    Very nice, may pick this up for my home office. I checked and the works laptop should be able to run it. I plan to buy a new computer for myself so will use it for that, I have to have lots of windows open for my work so this aspect ratio could do well with that.

      Hey! Not on this model no, it's purely a monitor. You'll need an input device and webcam for that

    Nice! How does it compare with the Acer Concept D CP3271UV that you also tested? Looking for something for editing medium format camera pics, as well as documents (word/excel/PowerPoint) from an older MacBook Pro - will I need a magnifying glass to read the text on folder names/icons etc? :)

    • @jordanash
      @jordanash  2 года назад

      If budget isn't a problem, then I'd choose the Acer. Although it's not a high resolution, it's far superior in colour and more designed for professional work. That's not to say the Huawei isn't great, it is, just the Acer is on another level. You could always scale the Huawei resolution up to make things easier to read.

    Hey Jordan, when I use the HDMI cable it seems to crop in from the sides on my MBP, however when I use the USBC it fills it normally, do you have any suggestions why?

    • @jordanash
      @jordanash  2 года назад +1

      Hey. It may be to do with the aspect ratio. I *think* HDMI only supports 16:9 and 21:9

  • @nick_malone

    I'm having trouble connecting my brand new macbook pro M1 Max to this monitor(also purchased new for this purpose) via the USB-C on the side. I've tried everything and it will not connect, only charge. Is it possible that I need a thunderbolt 4 cable to use as a monitor? I thought so but you're using the USB-C out of the box no problem. Please help!

    • @jordanash
      @jordanash  2 года назад

      Hmmm, that's odd. I take it your Macbook's USB C port supports display out? I know sometimes they've had specific monitor ports.

    • @nick_malone
      @nick_malone 2 года назад

      @@jordanash Yep it has 3 Thunderbolt 4 ports that should all work for this reason. Would you expect the USB-C that comes with the monitor to work fine in this case usually? I'm reading also that it could be an issue with Monterey favouring Apple displays and causing problems with others. Thanks!

    • @jordanash
      @jordanash  2 года назад

      Ah okay, no issue there then. Yes definitely, it should be rated for the maximum resolution is supports. You could try emailing Huawei if you don't have any luck. No worries!

    This is my favourite aspect ratio but the DPI is too small. I'd be happier with a 30" 2560x1600 display, like the Apple ones of yesteryear. Also, no Vesa mount is going to turn a lot of people away. The I/O is nice but not necessary IMO, but in any case the stand should be detachable leaving an HDMI connector available just to connect the panel.

    • @jordanash
      @jordanash  2 года назад

      Yeah, it is a shame you couldn't mount it. I guess Huawei have designed this to be a used as a single display, for which the majority of people wouldn't use a mount.

    • @PolluxChung

      Dell still sells a 30" model at that resolution you are looking for.

    Hi Jordan, hopefully you'll be the one answering my question in regards to this monitor (other reviewers of the MateView doesn't seem to care to answer anymore...) Do you think this monitor would be a good upgrade for someone who mainly does web browsing, document editing, gaming and 3D modeling? I have never had a monitor better than my current 5 years old, 75Hz, 21:9, 1080p, and I'm unsure if going from 75Hz back to 60Hz would be bad or not for me. My current computer is running a Ryzen 5 1600X with a 1080 Hybrid FTW GPU, I know it is aging, but I am pretty sure it would be sufficient enough to push 60fps on the games I play (ARK: Survival Evolved and 7 Days to Die and Minecraft) to the MateView.

    • @PunkR0ckz09
      @PunkR0ckz09 2 года назад

      Note: My current monitor is the LG 25UM58-P.

    • @jordanash
      @jordanash  2 года назад

      Hey Eric! Yes, definitely. This is a well rounded display and would work well for those applications. I don't think you'll notice the transition from 75hz to 60 to be honest, if you were going from 120 to 60 you would though. The only thing I would say, is where this is a high resolution, you might need to lower the resolution of your games.

    • @PunkR0ckz09
      @PunkR0ckz09 2 года назад

      @@jordanash Thanks for the reply ! Do you think it is worth the money (almost 900$CAD) or do you think I should wait for some holiday special deals? I feel like it is a bit pricey personally at that price range, but then again, I don't have anything to compare that monitor to, and I haven't had the pleasure of using anything similar to help with my decision making.

    • @jordanash
      @jordanash  2 года назад
