Thank you for sharing these ideas. Just starting my first ever model train layout (N-scale, 5'x14') and will be making and using these in multiple places on my layout. Thank you! Liked/subscribed.
Hi Jody! Yeah, it's amazing what you can build with simple household items. I just uploaded a video showing how to use wooden toothpicks to help build telephone poles. Thanks, Terry
Thanks! Glad you like them. My family likes them too and ask if I'm going to do the same on the current layout. They actually work too, once the glue dries, they're pretty sturdy.
Great idea, I'm headed to the store to get my tooth picks! I'm going to install them on my turntable for the ends, also on the short rails which aren't used on my turntable I can block them with these wooden end stops I think. Any ideas on painting the face warning colors like yellow and black?? Dan in Oregon
Thanks! I bought a box of 800 toothpicks years ago and still have half a box, even though I use them for various projects. you could probably paint the bumpers yellow/black stripes or use yellow and black electrical tape cut into small strips. I stained them to represent old ties that were constructed as a bumper. Terry
Pretty cool lil buffer - Only thing I'd do is instead of using white glue, Perhaps you could use a gel crazy glue. Just be careful you don't bond your toothpick structure to your fingers. I'd get the "Skin bonding delay" CG!

Nice work with a very common, inexpensive material.
Thanks, much appreciated! Hope you give it a try and it works for you.
Wow Terry that is so cool thank you for showing how and I will use them on mine when I build

Good job!!!!
I use dark walnut stain on my trestles, makes them look like they are about 75 years old. I have a place for one of these. Thanks
Sounds good! You could also take a razor saw or exacto knife and scrape the ties to make them more distressed. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you, so helpful
glad you like! should be easy for you to make some.
Nice video! Did you angle cut both ends of the braces or just one end? Thanks Dan
I cut both ends at an angle. Thanks for commenting!
I made it. I used inplix scripts for that. It was pretty easy to make it

I'm sure crazy glue would probably work. But with white glue, I won't have to worry about gluing my fingers together
@FW190A22 Thanks!
Great job! I use loose ties from flex track to build bumpers.
thanks! that's a good idea too, no need to buy when the parts are already available.
You wouldn't happen to be a Steelers fan, would you?
Ya Think? what's really funny, I go back and watch these "older" videos and think " I really acted like that"? LOL!
I give this person a 50% grade as he should have previewed the vid and corrected the color rendition. Also the background music is very annoying.
