I’ve been doing “cottagecore” for 10 years now. I’ve always loved thrifting vintage items from clothing to decor. I’ve loved regency era and Victorian era clothing since I was 12 and I’m almost 36. I love to wear dresses, bake, garden and read. Next skill is sewing well enough to make myself clothing.

I didn't know there was a name for this! I like it! I've been collecting vintage and antique needlework supplies for a while. My special interests are gardening, spinning, repairing antique spinning wheels and historical knitting and crochet. I'm happy to find out that this is a community.

I love to spend time in the nature but, my mom doesn't want me to be in places where there are soo many grass, etc she said that I'll get dirty there so like thats how my life's rn.. but I promise when I grow up, I'll move to a place surrounded by lots of natural, grass, flowers, trees, etc I love being around nature, painting, diy, spending time alone in a cotagecore forest,etc.. but for now I have to focus on my studies and then when I grow just see.. I'll be the most cotagecore person in the world ! 🍁☘️🍂🍃✨✨

I guess I am a mix of all the little subgenres of Cottagecore because they all kind of fit me. Especially Goblincore and Light Academia. I am hoping once I am on my own and out of college, I can begin my Cottagecore lifestyle in another country. It would be a nice start of getting fresh and having a massive change.

I've avoided Cottagecore style for a lifetime but, now I'm older, I'm naturally veering towards change. I've been collecting vintage and antique china forever, love textiles, colours, thrifted furniture and accessories. I make my own curtains and cushions, repaint frames, candles and mirrors. It all comes together beautifully.

Just a question: what could we do as a career that fits into the lifestyle? I'm thinking farmer, florist, teacher, baker, but are there any others? And with cottagecore on the rise, so are the prices of cottages. Would these jobs really be able to cover the costs of all this? Just asking because I love cottagecore sooo much and I plan to live like this, so just trying to be prepared.

I live this lifestyle and I am a work from home graphic designer. I think it's best to do jobs that are remote. My feeling is that a cottage-core lifestyle and typically "introverted jobs" are a good fit (not for everyone, but if you like being near nature and doing old time-y stuff you probably will want to be a little independent and closer to the outdoors) For me "introverted jobs" are jobs you don't have to work intensely and directly with others/customers.
I live in the german countryside in a 100 year old house with my garden, my chickens, my dogs and cats and a huge fireplace. Work from home was the only way I could imagine having the time to be in nature enough and spend time with my animals and my hobbies. 🌻

    • @brianthesnail3815

@@lynnemarie7885 My observation is that it is essentially people who have internet based work that is quite well paid. I grew up on a farm so I know how hard farming to make a living actually is. I now work on the internet.
I get what cottage core is as a social phenomenon and how it grew so quickly when everyone was working from home in the pandemic. It essentially rejects mass organised labour types of working but that really depends on very poor people in far away countries having to work in factories - even to make the cotton cloth in those vintage clothes.

My only problem with Cottagecore is probably that all the tutorials or tips for adapting it are very European or American centrist.
That is something that I even see in your video (No offense intended, I know you tried to summarize everything as you could) since the concept of "Thrift store" in the USA is not the same as for example my native country; Argentina, while in American second-hand stores you can find really old things, in second-hand stores in my country (especially in clothing stores) it is more likely that you will find clothes from the eighties, seventies and so on up to our times.
Added to the economic costs, cottagecore itself prevents me from being part of it, since I am not given alternatives, so I have a long way to go to find my own way of including and adapting everything. I hope that the rest of the people can have more luck than me, even if they are from the same country as me.

So... we can't even go one minute without Rainbow Tyranny propaganda? WTF: Cottagecore was NOT invented by "LGBTQ+" - lol.
What does Cottagecore have to do with autogynephilia & crossdressers? 🙄
It was invented in Europe over 2000 years ago; and it periodically resurfaces throughout human history - the recorded history we have in the 70's & 80's, Picnic at Hanging Rock (the original), and even IF gay men, lesbians, and bisexuals like Cottagecore, and poetry, and baking, heaps of heterosexuals do, as well.
To say Cottagecore is a gay-subculture is propaganda.
    Please stop insulting the world.
