Melee was rushed. *BADLY.* Sakurai was only given less than a year and a half to create this whole game from scratch. Man damn near killed himself over it. Pokefloats is a prime example of its development. The static backgrounds are hardly anything to look and and all the models are just straight ripped. It would've taken waaaay too much time to make custom model's for each one and give the all unique animations. Look at how they move. Goldeen is just straight as a board. The "float" and term "kanto skies" is just a setting so they can tell you their inanimate objects but its all an illusion. Their all basic movement on a static background. Hell, even big blue uses the car models ripped straight from Fzero X. The whole stage was probably made in just a few days but i dont blame them. The fact that melee still exists is nothing short of a miracle.
Despite this stage being rushed, it was creepy to my sight when i first unlocked it. ever since then i always thought that the floats were dead pokemon and that you're basically fighting in the heavens.

I find it really weird why out of all stages, this one is the one they went with for the Trouble King 2 event, the one with Luigi having to defeat a giant Bowser.

Damn I miss these days. You’re giving it to the next guy on top of onix then everyone runs off to psyduck and you give another beat down before running off to another Pokémon before it’s too late
Pac-Land scrolls 3x faster than this and there’s a million tiny things that directly obstruct your movement when you’re just trying to walk to the right to avoid dying. In Poke Floats you can actually stop to fight because most of the platforms are huge and the scrolling is slow enough, plus everything the stage throws at you is telegraphed. Comparing this to Pac-Land is one of the worst comparisons of all time.

No. Pac-Land is so bad that it’s good, and Hanenbow can be fun with the right fighters. What deserves to be replaced is 75m because it’s boring AND impossible to fight on.
