@TarantulaHaven I really loved the dwarf one. Such beautiful markings. The irony Is before I found your channel and Tarantula Kats channel I had severe arachnophobia. Watching your videos helped me over come that. those little ledges and magnetic hides and such come in VERY handy when you have a little old jumping spider. they start having trouble climing so every ledge and limb helps :)

Yep they are our new go to. My son makes friends at every expo i take him too. This most recent expo he suckered me into a gorgeous centipede from them.
Oh cool! You’ll have to let me know how you like that centipede after you’ve had it a while. Still not something I’m interested in keeping. 😂

Those slings are so cute, definitely the Gabon and speckle patch! I have a juvenile/sub adult female that, sure enough hangs out at the top near the 32oz. deli cup lid. If I had a choice like yours to work with I would get another Phormingochilus penellhewlettorum to replace my boy Belfry who matured out. He was very defensive but gorgeous🪦sigh I miss him. 😢A Heterschodra Maculata, and a Haplocosmia Himalaya. I’d also like to say how wicked it is to be today years old that I found out you are a goth!💀Thanks for all the great content! 🕷
They vend at my local show. I got my first tarantula from them in April. Our sling is doing amazing and lead to 39 other tarantulas 😂😂😂

Good luck with your Ghost mantis! My favorite mantis I've had so far. They're so fascinating. I had mine for not quite a year. She was fine one day and gone the next. 😞 I currently have a cat eye mantis, they are also awesome and fun to interact with.

Your C. fimbriatus rehousing went a lot better than my first one! 😅 They really are beautiful spiders. Mine hasn't gotten to the point where it stays out yet, but it does hang out in the opening in the evening.
Ha! Yeah I was surprised it was as chill as it was. My first two were fast as lightning. It took mine a little while before they’d hang out on the webbing but they were pretty much out all the time unless I bumped the enclosure or something. Then they’d disappear into their burrow. Beautiful webs they made. Pretty much made the enclosure look like snow. 🤓👍🏼

Great video Alex, lovely new additions, im getting into Mantids, only got 2 atm from a breeder friend, cryptic, one just matured male but want more species, jumpers, i need more again, had several years ago and bred, think i mentioned before, but theyre so cute and inquisitive. The smithi here is labelled as giant orange knee, managed to get 2 slings a few years back when cites clamped down, confirmed both as female now too 😊 the gabonensis, is that similar in its ways to the villosella where it will live communally ? They would be the only dwarfs id have to be honest, baboons, love em lol.
I love the mantids. I even considered keeping some to breed but it was just too difficult to keep up with my tarantulas and all. I’m not sure if the gabonensis can be kept communally. Not one I’ve heard of to do that. I think they are gorgeous though. 😁

It's native to Columbia and the language there is Spanish. While the spelling is the same, I think the pronunciation would probably follow the Spanish.
It is. American pronunciation sounds like gorilla but Spanish is more like “ghe-ri-ya.” The double L makes a Y sound. 🤓👍🏼
I love ghost mantis I used to keep them but as you said they are heart breakers so I stopped and went to tarantulas.
Yeah. There are so many beautiful mantises to choose from. One day I’d like to keep an orchid mantis or two but yeah, the short lifespan always gets me.

I love them as well. Just wish they’d live longer. You think it’s female? I know to count the abdomen segments but it’s so hard when they’re that small.
@@TarantulaHaven on this species the sexual dimorphism is super apparent. Females have shorter, wider "crowns" and the ones on males are tall, thin, and more kinked. I paired my 2 a few weeks ago... She's laid 2 ootheca already! 🤞
