- On my first day in Istanbul, Turkey I go from Eminonu past the ferry pier, take the Galata Bridge across the Bosporus strait, catch the "Shoe Shine Scam" in progress and talk to some local fishermen.

Ah, I got scammed on this very same bridge almost two weeks ago and I'm almost sure it's the same guy from the video. Basically, he took advantage of my kindness and asked a few times to shine my shoes so he could thank me. I finally agreed on the third time and when he finished, he asked: "Brother, can you help me?" and I decided to give him 10 tl which is around 55 euro cents. Five minites later I realized I probably got scammed. But I wasn't angry.
Aww my friend yeah they trick a lot of people unfortunately. The guy in my video was forcefully holding the other guys hand not letting go, as the other guy was trying to talk nicely to let him go, saying sorry, etc, etc. The good thing is they usually will ask 100 or 200 lira (way higher than standard price) and sometimes be aggressive if you don't pay. So luckily you only paid a normal price. Thanks for the comment and sharing your experience!!!
@@ManiacsWorld I think the moral is, if you help somebody, do it for your own pleasure and don't expect (or want) anything in return. I should've just politely decline his offer to "thank" me and continue walking.
@@stdinkov Great point, I agree 👍💯
I got scammed by the same guy 3 years ago. He insisted I pay him 200 Lira and was a bit aggressive. It was at least a good shine. I gave him the money.
Oops ... it appears I watched but didn't comment 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🍺🥴🍺 Great video Maniac , I'm looking forward to the Istanbul series ... and yes its 4am and I'm still awake
Thanks Mr Tourist 🍻 Stay tuned for more, but get some sleep 😁🤣
19K 👀 🎉
Fuck yeah this guy's videos get better and better .
Neil! Appreciate the comment, you rock! 💯🍻
Nice vlog bro! I'm gonna love the Istanbul content.
Thanks Hobo! Hope you will enjoy the series.
@@ManiacsWorld its the beginning and I already loves it!
Thanks for the tip , nice to see the boardwalk
Hey! Appreciate you stopping by, thanks 💯
Greetings from Naples, Florida. We enjoyed your walk around Istanbul. Thank you for sharing with us. (like 79) 👍
Hey thanks! Appreciate the comment 👍
Ah yes! It is so nice to see you back with a new video for your subscribers! I’ve never seen any video from Turkey, from any vlogger, so this should be rather interesting. I am curious as to how you decided to travel to Turkey this time around. Istanbul brings lots of history, along with Europe meets Asia. I especially thought your walk across the bridge at the Bosphorous Strait in Istanbul to be something unique and memorable. After all, this leads into the Black Sea, where war continues with Ukraine and Russia at this time. Nice job sir, and let’s not encounter any earthquakes on this adventure! 👏😁👍⭐️
Hi Randy! 🙂
Hey Randy! Thanks for chiming in I do appreciate it 💯 You mentioned earthquakes and shortly after arriving in Turkey I read something that said Turkey is quite prone to quakes and I thought oh no here we go again lol. I don't want to experience anything like that Mexico City quake ever again!😁
Good comment Randy
@@Reporterfy Alex, don't give Randy a Big Head with such a nice compliment! He will be expecting them from me soon! 🙂
@@KenWiggerAnotherAncientGamer hahahha
I love that all around the bridge are these anglers. 🎣 Great vlog again! 👏
Hey Mr.Wasabi, yeah it's a cool scene for sure👍
Good job showing this. It's crazy how the shiner tried to hold on to the walkers wrist. The shiner was super persistent. I'll make sure to watch out for this.
Thanks JCM. Yup you read that situation right.
Awesome just sitting down to watch this
Hey RMT, thanks you the man! Appreciate the support 💯
Turkey is an interesting country. I like Turkey especially at Thanksgiving. 🙂 This was a really nice video!! The beautiful immense mosque in the background would be nice to visit if possible. The shoe shine scam was interesting. One of the worse scams I saw was when Jay Cee was in Rome and people would toss him something then demand him to pay for what he had in his hands that he caught. Jay Cee would just throw it back at them first. I hate scams. Also in Rome they put cheap paintings on the sidewalk and when you step on them while in a crowd walking they create a scene demanding you buy the damaged painting for exorbitant prices. I am looking forward to more from your Turkish visit! It is an unique place to travel and experience their culture. Well done!!!!
Hey Ken! Thanks for chiming in. Yeah various scams happen all over the place and are so annoying for tourists. Gotta be savvy!
@@ManiacsWorld 🙂
@Ken Wigger - You continue to remain true to form! Before I even looked for your comment, I already suspected I’d read something about Thanksgiving. You may like it on the holiday, I myself can eat it anytime, as it’s my favorite. Now, take a deep breath and try to focus your thoughts that this series is on the country of Turkey. Not Butterball or some other brand you eat! 🦃🇹🇷
@@THEDEADBLACKRAT Talking about Butterballs, I had that once in the Army but a qualified Medic gave me some salve that cured it right after Thanksgiving. :-)
@@KenWiggerAnotherAncientGamer Your come backs always kill me! LMFAO!
underated channel
Thanks, I really appreciate your comment! It's hard to grow a small channel, but every new subscriber and comment helps. 🙏💯
Loving the content from turkey 🇹🇷
Yeah man it is really an interesting place. Thanks for stopping by.
As ZZ said the friendliest Canadian one can ever meet! Great to see your Turkey experience unfold…..
Ahh J B and Z Z both of you are too kind🙏 Thanks for the support!!!!!
True
Man i kept waiting for the Turkish maniac only to realize you are Maniac lol.
Haha, love this comment!
What happens if you give him the brush and sprint away ? 😁
Haha! I like it, solid strategy.
Love the shirt ..Istanbul looks like fun
Good eye on the shirt 🤘😎
Very chill exploration vlog 💯👏👏👏
Thanks Erin! Always nice to hear from ya!!💯🍻
Right on sir, how long you gonna stay there?
Yo Diablo! Good to see ya in the ol' comment section🍻 A good chunk of time to eat kebabs and push out some content. Stay tuned for more 🤘
I have never seen anyone catch a legal size fish on that bridge
Hmm, I never thought about that. In Canada, of course, we have size restrictions when fishing. Not sure about Turkey (likely not enforced much). Bridge fishing seems a popular pastime there!
great stuff man
Thanks chef!🍻💯
I agree
what a nice beard dude
Thanks bro! Actually I did see a lot of excellent beards around Istanbul 👍
I got scammed the same way, and the guy starting telling the story of his ill wife and financial crisis etc.. me and my wife donated him 40 liras.lol...i was quite an experience .
Wow thanks for sharing your experience. I've heard sometimes they insist on 100 to 200 lira! Lots of people fall for this shine shine trick. Hopefully more people see this video so they know to be careful.
Good show around
Hong buddy! Cheers! 🍻💯😎👍
Nothing says look I’m a tourist, come scam me , more than a guy walking about with a phone on a stick..🤔
You aren't wrong! 😁
Didn’t see it being caught on your cam 🤷🏿♂️
