UPS delivered the Sugar drive to me yesterday, and this is what I have been looking for. I have a tube screamer, but I guess I never knew how to use it. But I followed your instructions in another of your videos about running the Tube screamer into the Sugar drive, and oh my, so nice. Thanks for the videos.
That’s awesome! Try switching the order too (SD into the TS). Slightly different character and really cool. I’m going to do a deep dive on my Tube Screamer fairly soon. The Sugar Drive is such a sleeper gem of a pedal! Glad the videos helped.
Wound up getting a Fat Sugar on sale (for less than a Sugar Drive) at GC last week and this is the first time I've ever bonded this much with a "Klone" it's staying on my board now. Love stacking it with my MXR M77 modified "super badass" overdrive, great TS style pedal.
I tried this one, the Tumnus and the Conspiracy Theory, at the end I kept the CT, I love it! The Sugar Drive was great too. If you're looking for a Klon clone, these 3 are the best options in the same price range IMO.
@@TomButwin Try the Super Badass Dynamic OD next! I bought that soon after. Awesome. Can’t wait until they make a regular size Duke Of Tone! The Fat Sugar was a Guitar Centre exclusive and only $80 in some cases. I bought mine from Anderton’s UK as I’m in EU. It worked out at nearly €180 but worth every cent. The SB D OD was similar. Two instant classics.
What fool would spend that kind of money on a guitar pedal anyway? There’s so many affordable options out there now. I like this Sugar Drive one. Thanks for the suggestion. 👍🏻
@@im58woody There’s thousands of players out there that spend more time hunting for that elusive holy grail pedal than actually playing. If you’re not happy with your tone then sort that out because a €5000 pedal isn’t going to make any difference. If you have your own sound then gear doesn’t really make a difference. I sound the same on a Strat or a Tele through a Fender or a Marshall amp though any pedal!😂🤣🥹
I really want this little pedal now...even more than before I watched this video... i think it wpuld go well with a Spark mini in front of it, and maybe Soul Food &/or JHS Packrat after it... I've just started to dive down the pedals rabbit hole... and looking at prices i have decided that for the price of the Tuner i want, and like 2 pedals plus a power supply, I'd be near or over $400... so I'm going to start with a Headrush MX5 I think, and maybe add pedals to that later on. My kids and I are still newbs...
For a transparent overdrive/Klon style pedal, I love the Sugar Drive! I haven't played the Mx5, but I'd definitely take a look at the Line 6 HX Stomp. A little pricier, but it's the best in that class, I think.

Me too! Solid little pedal for sure.

❤Love my MXR Sugar Drive. I use it with the MXR Dyna comp into a Tonemaster Twin/cream backs. Love the tone I get❤
What a great setup. Love those Dyna Comps too. The Sugar Drive has quickly become a favorite for me too.

Those are both EXCELLENT choices as well.
I love this pedal. Bought for my mini board for duo gigs. I think ill get another one for my larger board
Amazing! I love it too. Check out my affiliate link if you pick up another and want to support the channel.
I prefer the bigger pedals so I bought the Fat Sugar. It’s awesome.
The mini pedals are definitely harder to deal with when attaching them to a board and spacing them. Fat Sugar is super cool!

I’ll look into that one!

There's one in the case at my local shop I think I gonna go get it after watchin
I still use mine everyday!
The Zeus from TC is a great Klon klone and the"FAT" switch can make thin bridge pickups meaty.

Who’s playing drums at the end? Is that Kyle from GarageBand?
I think it was Jerry.
I'll stay with the Electro Harmonix Soul food
Excellent choice as well.
Great choice. I own the bass soul food and it’s my fave pedal. I also bought the stomp size of the sugar drive
3:30 song... From phantom of the opera?
FINALLY someone caught it. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Where is the unboxing??? Did I miss it??? Curious if mine came as it should or if I received an "open box" item. Packaging looked pretty sparse.
Mine was new, but just had the pedal, box, plastic bag, and maybe a sticker? Very minimal.
Are you in love with John Mayer??? Y-so much Mayer ... Landon ???
I’m a fan.
Where’s your clean tone coming from?
I believe this was either a Strymon Irridium or UA amp sim.
Nux horseman is Amazing. A lot cheaper too
I'll check it out!
@@TomButwin has gold and silver modes too
As far as adjectives, you didn’t say “buttery.” That’s the adjective I’ve heard you use most in your life. And not just in reference to butter.
It’s usually in reference to my physique.
It's the most overrated piece of gear out there (the Klon and its clones that is).
Hey shhhh it's our secret weapon! Don't tell anybody lol!
Lol!
