I hate to be THAT guy, but barrel rolls are actually one of the safer (relative) wrecks on the NASCAR circuit. The Jeremey Clarkson joke "Speed doesn't kill. The sudden lack of speed does," is very accurate. The more impacts the car has at a glancing angle while spinning results in the loss of material of the overall vehicle, reducing its inertia (relatively more) slowly over time compared to direct head-on or driver-side impacts into a fixed, unmoving wall where the vehicle completely changes direction after the impact.
You also have to talk into account that some of these recks predate most modern safety equipment
Allison’s accident actually was pretty bad- because he rolled along the guardrail which acted like a can opener. Fortunately he wasn’t seriously injured by it but it still was pretty awful.
@@saragrant9749Davey Allison i think barrel rolled 10 times too.
@@AlanFormula12022 he did, yes. Those kinds of really fast snap rolls side by side are really rough on the driver- even today. If you ever want to see some insane flipping, look up the video for Mack Macllelan’s midget crash at Indianapolis Raceway Park from 1992- 14 snap rolls after going nose first into the catch fence. (I may have misspelled his last name).
Newman was hurt, but thankfully it wasn’t fatal. He spent a day or two in the hospital. Had flashbacks to 2001 that day.
I did too! When they brought the black curtains out? I thought he was dead. I felt so sick to my stomach I was that scared
I remember watching the crash on tv I was up until the good update a few hours later
I did too it was a terrible impact
My family was praying and just waiting for an update. We thought the same when the black screen came up
@@AshtainOneal45i also watched it in real life or even on FOX SPORTS TV.
Watched about 2/3 of these live. All were definitely scary to watch, but Newman's crash was absolutely terrifying. When his car came to rest, I couldn't physically move and was yelling "get him out" at my TV over and over.
Honestly, Jeff Fuller's crash in 2006 is one of the hardest motorsports hits, likely ever. It's northing short of a miracle that Fuller wasn't hurt.
Right?
Fun Fact: Barrel rolls are actually safer because if you come to such a sudden stop like Austin Dylan did in 2015, All of those G's are pulling on you and inflicting more damage. However, when you are barrel rolling as Ryan Preece did a Few months ago, The g's are much less damaging and you can survive with less injury to your body.
Wow
I was watching Newman's wreck with my parents...we thought we just saw him die
@@goldosprey I nearly got sick watching it live. Absolutely couldn't believe what I had just seen
@@goldosprey I ran upstairs. I cried that night
Us too
It would have been even more hilarious that way
Montoya was so unlucky that entire Speedweeks. Wrecked in the Shootout, his Duel, and had a minor bump early in the 500. Then halfway through, one snap (suspension), turned him into a meme, innocent man, and a lucky SOB all at the same time. My mom loved Kahen during my teen years,so seeing that crash scared the hell outta her. Also to be honest, BOTH Pocono races in 2010 had vicious wrecks (both Evernham cars ironically), including a wreck that apparently nobody saw.
@@ParadiseCity1329 the Elliot Sadler wreck? Yeah weird there is no official footage
Yup
I wasn’t necessarily afraid of Juan getting injured when I first saw the accident, because I knew the cars were built to take punishment…but the driver of the jet dryer was my biggest concern.
Great sportsmanship by Earnhardt jr
I remember the thumbnail crash. First ARCA race I ever seen. I feel sorry for John Fontaine
I remember seeing news of Newman’s wreck in the newspapers while at the cash register at a Walmart
It was hilarious 😂😂 he got scared and went upside down
8:30 Great hustle by Jordan Anderson to get out, even while the truck was still moving. Any later and it would have been very ugly.
It's tragic that Dale would survive that crash, yet a tamer appearing hit would claim his life.
All because he refused to wear a HANS device that would have saved his life.
Womp Womp. It’s pretty hilarious actually. Especially the pictures from the aftermath inside his car after he decided to look at the wall in Daytona. Red and gooey
1:04 amazing how that didn’t do anything to him bit a comparatively mild crash a few years later took him from us
I feel bad for Newman
Looks to me like Anderson was waiting for the impact and then jumped. Like he was ready to jump and knew the car was gonna hit the wall so waited for that and was like "nows my cue to get the heck outta here"
I agree
One significant correction for you. Ryan Newman WAS injured- pretty seriously. A head injury is not something to take lightly, concussion can be extremely dangerous. More careers have ended due to simple seeming head injuries than anything else.
It was a miracle
1:38 Ah yes, when Joey Logano would pay Hamlin back by trying to kill him.
Joey didn't do that Denny did trying to spin Joey after the initial contact
@@RAID3R63 joey fan spotted
@TheUncancelable1 he got tight and denny pulled the same move he always tries, trying to put logano into the wall, it wasn't Joey's fault
@@Thejet16 nope it was just hard racing. Joey even said that's what he gets. Joey was trying to wreck denny
I know Logano wasn't trying to kill him, but still, why wreck him on one of the fastest tracks on the circuit. I mostly agree.
Dale Sr had some serious hits and was able to walk them off, but a tamer hit in 2001 killed him
Newman just could not catch regular good luck at the plate tracks; if he wasn't flipping himself it was being involved in someone flipping
Kyle Busch in the 2015 Xfinity opener had a Fred the Fish moment when he hit that concrete wall head-on
Much like Daytona and Talladega, Pocono seems to be a hotspot for nasty wrecks. And the Tricky Triangle's had some nasty ones in IndyCar as well, as Robert Wickens can confirm. Kasey Kahne's last-lap pileup wouldn't be the only especially-bad wreck on the Pocono straightaways in 2010, as Elliott Sadler decimated the 19 car in the other Pocono race that year
The scariest crash I've ever witnessed is Damian Flack Barron rolling down Con Rod Straight at Bathurst, 2015.
I genuinely feared it could've been potentially lethal at the time.
In a support race for the Bathurst 1000, right? The actual 1000 was minus a number 6 Pepsi Max Ford after an absolute devastator claimed a marshal post and caused Chaz Mostert a Fred the Fish moment.
I've always wanted to see info on this wreck other than the actual video of course. anywhere where I can go to find out more plz?
@@TRJames5914 try googling for an old news article about it?
Instead of saying “most scariest”, just say “scariest”
The Davey Allison wreck at the end of Winston All Star was just wicked. The way he pancaked the wall driver side was just wicked. He was lucky to not suffer a fatal head injury
As a Busch fan, if I was watching the 2013 California race, as I was too young, I would have gone from celebrating Busch's win, to feeling horrible for Hamlin, and hating Logano, as I do today.
Logano fans: If you dislike this comment, I'll never know 🤣😂🤣
Same here
Rest in peace, California Speedway
Thanks For Uploading
I still have trouble watching that Newman wreck
Agree
I’d love to hear the mrn audio of Dale’s fatal crash in 2001.

They will never be another racer like Dale Earnhardt!! One in Million !! The best at his sport !!!
I also thought Ryan Newman was dead after this violent last lap wreck at Daytona 500 2020.
I Hope Hamlin Is Fine 2:03
No. Broken Back that took him out for a third of the Season.
Thankfully most of the time the drivers walk away
Did you watch the entire video?
@@A_river_dirt_cheeseyes
Amen
Newman crash still is the most viscous behind Waltrip Bristol crash.
13:13 Clint bowyer just did doc Hudson style move save that was awesome
Ill take a simulator, heat 5, half rack of beer and tv with racing hiighlights over playing this sport lol.
Until the last lap at Daytona, I think death would be considered the worst accident of his career.
Me every time this happens ‘’OMG😱’’
How many people does it take to make a jet dryer catch on fire?
Juan. Juan is all it takes; just Juan.
😂
Formula 1 drivers can stand like a 190mph crash and be alright and they are more dangerous racecars
Before Daytona 2001 Crash 0:18
First 8:40 you can not say *No body injuries* and go on to say *had burns to the skin*. It contradicts itself and just say scariest. Only criticizing because I want you and the channel to do well.
Thanks
yeah
Dang
Newman's Daytona crash was literally thousandths of an inch from being fatal. A brain bleed is not a minor injury.
Yeah
With all due respect I can give you 6 that are worse than the pocono… u can even use the one when Khane got wrecked by Allmendinger….
Austin Dillon's crash at Daytona in 2015 was hands down one of the worst I've ever seen. But no mention of it here.
Yeah
@@MMCS07or Michael McDowell's crash at Texas in 2008 during qualifying.
“Nobody was injured” during the Newman 500 wreck… and the statement that Newman escaped with “minor” head injuries…
Yeah. I’m done watching after that. Newman was in the hospital for weeks.
So to be honest the only reason Dale Earnhardt Sr died is because he didn’t wear the HANS device but he dang sure made Jr wear it
Yeah
Edwards / Keselowski
Dale Jr the 1st lap after his dad died
Austin Dillon into the catch fence
Kyle Larson into the catch fence (#32 car)
McDowell Watkins Glen
Dave Blaney 1998 Busch Series at Talladega
Also McDowell's crash at Texas in '08
Remember when Dale Earhart wreck
Quickly Escape The Truck 8:28
Hamlin spun his self he just thinks everything is just Logano and Hendricks
1:40 as a denny fan. I remember this like it was yesterday. Logano is a douche
Was newmans car damage the reason it didn’t right itself after sliding
I was at the 2012 Daytona 500
Lucky!
@MMCS07 that race didn't end until 2am Tuesday morning. I remember watching Juan Pablo hit the jet dryer
Ok, get the facts before making these, I had to stop at the Newman one, Newman was seriously injured… Logano wasn’t paying Denny back, Christ…. Homer Simpson was in the 6 car at Dover in 2009, see, I can make stuff up, too.
Denny wrecked himself in that exchange wrecking logano
Why they call him Jet Dryer Montoya by the way.......
Because he hit the jet dryer and it blew up
Lol
My most despised driver is Joey Logano, Joey is always whining about something or doing something dirty on the track. Raise Hell, Praise Dale🙏
NASCAR Scary 😱 HITS!

yeah man.
Why do you keep posting the video title as a comment
You like stealing other people's content and voiceover work and talent? Does that feel good? Do you feel important?
This has to be one of the most poorly edited and poorly narrated videos I’ve seen. Random clips with no explanation, consistent grammatical errors, etc.
I don’t think anyone asked
