Implementing the same prescription when it comes to trapping here in Northwest Illinois since 2020. Currently up to 53 raccoons on our spring nuisance permit with a total of 135 nest preds so far in 2023. Paired with our heavy habitat management regime, we have seen an absolute explosion in turkey population over the last three seasons. Keep up the good work 👍

If the fox is in the hen house you shoot the fox or you won’t have any chickens, it’s as simple as that. Any one that’s old enough to have been turkey hunting since 1980 knows there was a lot more turkeys back when there was a bunch of trappers and dog hunters going after the nest predators.

There's an old adage, "Those that can, do. Those that can't, preach". No matter what you do someone will criticize you. I'm literally on the other side of the world but I enjoy your work and appreciate all the time and effort you put into it.

I've done the habitat work which helps but as soon as I started trapping I started to see more turkeys.

Habitat and predator control are both essential. If you’re feeding deer, you’re feeding raccoons, possums and skunks.

Trappers still exist. Problem is it’s during the ol mighty deer season, and land owners don’t want you trapping November-January. Easier for landowners who are deer hunters to get a nuisance permit. Straight up poaching!

Man u doin the turkeys a world if gud!
I do the same thing n MS.
The deer (from trappin coyotes and bobcats) and the turkys (from trappin nest predators) populations have exploded.
Keep up the good work buddy and screw the haters. It is wht it is!

you can trap your way to better turkey populations ! It's no coincidence that when coon were bringing good money and more trappers were in the woods the turkey populations were booming . Keep up the good work and please never coward to those who say trapping doesn't help !

How can people think this doesn't help. If you have over 100 raccoons on 20 acres you need to thin them out. Team habitat or team trap? They are the same team.

I did the same thing the last two years but on a much smaller property . This spring my field camera capture two Jakes where prior there were none . The number of trapped nest robbers has dropped just like you said .Ohio ODNR made a thought less move to help the professional Tappers buy shorting the raccoon hunting season . We can hunt only during the cold weather because the " pelts are not prime " . Prices dropped very limited trapping done . Nest robbers population sky rocketed .Turkey population dropped. In OHIO all nuisance trapped nest robbers must be euthanized unless transferred to your personal property . This is because threat of Rabies.

Pelt prices r nothing anymore therefore trappers r scarce. If u killd yer limit of gobblers this yr thank a trapper! Lot of hard work and sweat this time of year.
And if u want turkys on yer place, set a trap!
