I love the fact that teams that have been struggling for a while like Maryland, and especially Illinois and Rutgers are finally finding their footing. Anything that makes the big ten stronger as a whole is good.
I agree with the Ohio State comment. There is always room for improvement. But if Ohio State, stay focused, healthy, and hungry. They control their own destiny.
It makes sense because Penn state has infamously played down to competition, but tbf, they still won. Additionally, Illinois is a much better team than a lot of people give them credit for. They should be in the top 20…
I don't think Oregon,USC, or Washington truly understood what the difference was going to be because not only do you have a couple more tougher games than you're used to but you also drop a couple of those Powder Puffs off the bottom of the schedule. I know Oregon's got a nice team, but I think we're going to see those three teams struggle in the Big Ten over the next five years while getting adjusted. It's just like the SEC with teams that have come over from the Big 12. Of course with Texas being the exemption because they come in so strong, but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see them stumble somewhere along the way this year as well as five years from now see that they've ended up having one of those choke moments like everyone else does in the SEC. Well not so much a choke moment as it is running into a team that's just playing out of their minds in order to take down a bigger team rather it be from home field advantage, which is a much bigger deal with some SEC teams than any other conference, or just a team with a chip on their shoulder who had some injuries or problems that all of a sudden are rectified. It's just a whole new world for all the teams who moved conferences. I'm not trying to upset anyone but we all know everyone moved on to a much tougher situation.
I’m a psu fan, so I watch them pretty closely. The psu D is not that good. Allowed Illinois to convert a 3rd and 21 on a run play in the first half. Let bowling green basically move the ball at will. Last year the defense looked impressive and dominant. This year they look vulnerable and I don’t think Ohio state will have any trouble scoring 40+.
This isn’t a discussion of who is winning it here. He’s got them top two of the old group, and new group (USC) just lost to the bronze medal of the old group. And USC and Oregon don’t have a track record of bronze medals in a worse conference with Utah who Penn State beat. The math isn’t mathing.
