In a few days Band--Maid and The Warning are doing a joint concert in Japan. It is The Warning's 1st time in Japan. Then they are doing a short tour on their own. The bands first met in 2022 at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento but were already fans of each other. The Warning is 3 sisters from Monterrey, Mexico. They have songs in English and Spanish.. They got first noticed in 2014 (ages 9 through 14) doing a cover of Enter Sandman on RUclips. The Warning Army can fill in more details.
Classically trained sisters when they were tiny little kids. When the youngest was just 9 years old they covered Metallica’s Enter Sandman in their basement for their grandparents in 2014. Seen by over 22 million viewers and by Metallica. Kirk Hammett said the 12 year old drummer kicks maximum a..! The youngest sister the bassist Ale affectionately called the ‘Thunder Goddess’ by fans, her bass work compared to the roar of diesel locomotives. The drummer, middle sister Pau, recognized as DRUMEO’s Best Rock Drummer of 2023. She can sing lead with intensity or break your heart with ballads WHILE drumming. Nothing will prepare you for her performances. Eldest sister Dany, recognized by her peers and idols. Matt Bellamy of Muse and Lzzy Hale of Halestorm had specially made guitars gifted to her in recognition of her guitar skills. Dany’s vocal talents also recognized that Three Days Grace invited her to be their frontwoman for their song Painkiller. Metallica invited them to rework Enter Sandman with Canadian singer Alessia Cara for the Blacklist album. Each sister can take turns singing lead, play the piano, sing in English, Spanish, French and a bit of Japanese. Can’t wait to see what they will do with Band Maid!

They are all sisters, classically trained pianists ale on bass and vocals is 19, pau on drums and vocals is 22, and dany on lead vocals and guitar is 24. from monterrey mexico. Signed to Lava Records they have been a band for over 10 years.
I took my wife to see them in Chicago last fall. She was expecting a "youtube band". Now she is pushing me to get passports to start seeing them on other countries. Live shows are where the magic really happens.
Pau not only sings, she also beats those drums like they owe her money!

Nothing wrong with starting with studio/video first. Then you can better appreciate live.
Whenever possible, react to the warning live! Their videos are always good. That one was done in 2 hrs. With iphones and a drone in an auto dealership. ANYTHING from the teatro metropolitan cdmx show is good and is pro shot. Along with band maid, best live bands around. For earlier stuff, the lunario concert and yes, the mtv mva performance of evolve and more showcase them at their best in front of an audience whom 90% had never heard of them.

The Warning Army is quite quite large and vociferous and I just thought I would add to that. These women are great. They have restored my faith in performers who believe not only in their music and their message, but what it means to their fans. It is music from the heart. They write, sing, play and perform well beyond their years. Their music is well crafted and delivered in studio but 100 times better live and they are simply a spectacle to behold. I have only seen them live once but it will always be treasured in my memories as a great live experience. Long live The Warning.

Saw them in April. They were absolutely fantastic. They're having a gig together with B-M this month on the 12th in Japan. Like B-M a band generally best served live, although the MVs are also fire of course.

The Warning and Band-Maid. Two amazing bands! The Warning is very unique in themselves as they are hard to pin down what people say they remind them of. All I know is that they rock hard and have catchy songs that will be the ear worms you've been looking for. Dust to Dust and Dull Knives are a couple more to look for, especially live at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX 2022.

The Warning is a band of 3 sisters. Daniela, Paulina, and Alejandra. They live in Monterrey, Mexico and have been rocking out as a band since 2012 (when they were 12, 10, and 7 years old)! Their parents loved music and they grew up watching and listening to rock concerts. Daniela (Dany) and Paulina (Pau) attended a music initiation class when they were 5 and 3 respectively. Alejandra (Ale’) attended the same class when she was old enough. They loved it. They all started classical piano lessons when they were between 6 and 7 years old. When Dany was 7 their dad bought them the Rock Band video game and they absolutely fell in love with rock music and performing on stage…. even though it was just a game. When Dany was 8 years old her dad asked her if she wanted to learn another instrument, along with piano. She chose the guitar. Pau chose the drums when she was 6, and Ale’ chose the bass at 6 (but was too small to play it until she was 7). Ale’ had been playing bass for about 1 month when they decided to play together and that was when the band was formed. In 2023 they celebrated 10 years as
The Warning”.
It is important to understand that their parents never pushed them to do this. This project was 100% the girl’s decision. Their parents completely supported them but never pushed them.
In 2014 they made a video to send to their grandparents to show them how they had progressed in their playing. The video was too big to just email so their dad uploaded it onto RUclips. It was a cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman and it went viral! To date it has well over 25 million views and was shouted out by Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, as well as many other famous bands. The girls were completely caught off guard by the attention this video got and they had to make a decision- they quit school and started homeschooling in order to devote as much time as possible to their music. They were 100% committed to this project and have never slowed down since (practicing hours every day separately and even more hours together).
In 2015 they released an EP called Escape the Mind. It was a mix of different kinds of songs as they sorted out their musical style.
They released their first album in 2017 called XXI Century Blood (21st Century Blood).
They released their second album in 2018 called Queen of the Murder Scene. It was a concept album telling the story of a young woman’s journey from desire, to love, to infatuation, to obsession, to psychotic, to murder, to remorse, and finally to suicide. It was an amazing album and was up for, and won, many Independent Music awards in 2019.
In 2022 their third album (first since signing to Lava Records) called Error. It is simply amazing!
Dany sings lead on about 75% if the songs. Pau sings lead on about 25% of the songs (either while drumming, or while at the keyboard, or just out front). Ale’ is a little shy about singing lead but steps in and sings lead when needed. All 3 can literally jump in and sing lead on any song if needed (with no drop-off in quality) and their harmonies in songs are simply amazing!
They have all given master classes on their instruments and song writing and performing (even as young as 18 years old).
They have opened for several great bands including Alice Cooper, Def Leopard, Stryper, The Foo Fighters, The Pretty Reckless, Halestorm, Three Days Grace, Guns n Roses, and their absolute idols Muse. In 2022 they played 103 concerts in South American and North America. In 2023 they played 75 concerts dates in 13 different countries all over the world.
The band was names “Best Live Band” for 2023.
Paulina (drummer) was named “Up and Coming Drummer” for 2023
Paulina was also named “Best Rock Drummer” for 2023 by Drumeo Magazine.

Bonus- In 2021 Metallica asked 53 artists (including The Warning) to take any of the 12 iconic songs from their Black album and do a cover (any way they wanted to) for their Black List album, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Black album. Alessia Cara (Canadian pop star) was also asked to participate but had no idea what to do. Because she shares the same management group as The Warning, she contacted them for help. It was difficult to do as Alessia was in Canada and The Warning were in Mexico and travel with COVID was not happening. They made it work and developed/recorded this completely re-imagined song in one week. They created the music video with the same logistical restrictions. Because of that you will see that Alessia appears as a projection on the wall in the video as she was not there. It was recorded in an abandoned textile mill outside of Monterrey, Mexico. 3 sisters that produce a massive wall of sound. They’re at their best live. Dany on guitar and lead vocals is often playing riffs while singing. Pau (Pow) on drums sings lead on songs while playing drums. Ale (Al-eh) on bass is the youngest at 19 but is one of the best, most creative, bass players in the world already. They just celebrated 10 years as a band and Dany is 24 and Pau is 22!

Someone has probably mentioned this, but the video of them playing this song on the VMA Awards is just killer. Pau's on that video is one of the greatest screams in rock!
I have this weird hobby of seeing reactors discover The Warning and be amazed. And I envy you because you are about to embark in a wonderful rock journey, a tremendous catalog of more than 50 songs as of today, a unique sound taking from grunge and punk and metal and classic but still being none of those. I’ve been following this band since they were little girls, and they are the real deal.
Just one thing: they are 100% better live. “Evolve” at the VMA’s, “Hell You Call a Dream” Live from Pepsi Center CDMX, anything from their Teatro Metropolitan show, anything live from the band is much more amazing.

Best Rock band outside Japan! Went to see them live in April and they played a tight 12 song set and absolutely killed it. They are about to do a double bill live with Band-Maid next week in Tokyo! Wait until you check out their live performances!

If you like info on instruments and the technical things, they all did videos called Gear Masters (seperately). Dany LOVES her PRS and signed with them during covid and she shows her Pedal Board too! Although that is no surprise to fans as Muse are one of their favourite bands and a big influence on their sound. No 4th member. Just a wall of sound from 3 incredibly talented sisters. All are multi instrumentalist and can sing. This is just the tip of the iceberg for them. Their music videos are great, but the real treat is watching them perform live.

The Villarreal-Velez sisters are amazing songwriters and performers from Mexico who live in Monterrey, San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo Leon. Each one of their original songs is great. Their second album, "QUEEN OF THE MURDER SCENE", is a concept album. It follows a girl's journey into unrequited love; from infatuation and obsession on into stalking and murder, then madness and the fight over her soul. It is a masterpiece. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 Independent Music Awards.
Their 1st full-length LP, "XXI CENTURY BLOOD", is also very good and is packed with many great songs. The video for the title track, "XXI Century Blood", was nominated for and won many awards.
Their very 1st released recordings are from their 6 song EP, "ESCAPE THE MIND"; and it is amazing.
Despite being courted by numerous offers from many major record labels, The Warning have stayed independent through the years; relying on crowd funding to finance their projects. They refused to give up creative control over their material ... down to even the clothes they wear on stage.
After 7 months of negotiations, The Warning signed a 5 album recording contract with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group in the fall of 2020.
They decided to release 1/2 (6 songs) of their completed 3rd full-length album in an EP called "MAYDAY" October 8th, 2021. The entire album was released June 24th, 2022: called "ERROR". "Disciple" is my favorite track!
They are going to release their 4th studio album "KEEP ME FED" June 28th, 2024. And 6 singles off the new album have already been released: "MORE", "S!CK", "HELL YOU CALL A DREAM", "QUE` MA`S QUIERES", "AUTOMATIC SUN", and recently "BURNOUT".
The Warning do not come from a family of musicians, however, their parents are huge fans of classic rock.
Both parents are professionals (recording engineer and dentist) and they enrolled their daughters into a private Catholic English Bilingual school Liceo de Monterrey, Mexico.
They also started the girls with classical piano lessons at ages 6, 4 and 5 years old.
Regular family functions included gathering around the TV with popcorn and watching LIVE concert dvds of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and AC/DC.
When their parents got them the video game Rock Band at ages 8, 6 and 3, they went nuts playing it obsessively. Shortly thereafter they got real instruments with lessons from professional teachers: and the rest is history. Amazing they are 24, 22 and 19 years old and have already written, arranged, and released #50+ original songs (not including the remaining songs from the upcoming 4th studio album).
Drummer Paulina writes around 75% of The Warning's songs. Most of her songs begin in rock ballad form; starting with a concept, then chord progression, melody and basic song structure on the piano. She may only have a verse and a chorus when she brings it before her sisters. Together they transpose each instrument's part and "rockify" the song. They complete any lyrics, bridges and any arranging, etc. making changes along the way. A 2/3 approval vote of each instrument's part and each vocal harmony before it becomes a completed song. Paulina has said if not for her sisters, her songs would be different. Both guitarist Daniela and bassist Alejandra write equally great songs; just not as many.
Drummer Paulina recently won Drumeo's 2023 Rock Drummer of the Year and won Best Up and Coming Artist in Modern Drummer Magazine's recent reader's poll.
I was fortunate enough to get to meet them after their show January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California. I had the opportunity to meet with them 3 more times during the 10 shows I attended on their 2022 North American MAYDAY Tour and 2023 ERROR WORLD TOUR. I have talked with their parents on 2 occasions and have had many conversations with their manager Rudy. I am going to meet with them again October 9th, 2024 at The Bellwether in downtown Los Angeles.
Aside from their music, they are just normal, sweet, intelligent, and fun-loving young ladies who are truely grateful and endearing to their fans.

Just 3 sisters, Daniela aka Dany age 24 (guitar, lead and backing vocals, piano), Paulina aka Pau age 22 (drums, lead and backing vocals, piano), and Alejandra aka Ale age 19 (bass guitar, piano, backing vocals) These are their songs written and arrange by them.
Check out "Disciple" to see not only Dany but Pau alternate singing lead. Or, "23" to see Pau singing lead for the whole song while playing drums. And see the live versions (Teatro Metropolitan.) That's where they really shine.

Now that you have some of The Warning under your belt I think you can understand why there is such a huge overlap in the fandoms. I'm sure I will get some hate for this but until this very video came out I always thought of The Warning as a cover band, albeit a good one. This song and video hooked me and I have been an avid follower ever since.
I was fortunate enough in 2023 to see both BAND MAID and The Warning here in Detroit at a 1000 person venue just a couple weeks apart. They were 2 of the best shows ever. Both bands were tight, well rehearsed, and sounded spectacular live. I can only imagine what a combined show will be like in Japan. I will see these girls again this September at another local venue here and actually scored tickets for the meet and greet. I am very excited ... I think the days of being able to see this band at an intimate venue may be numbered. They really have been on fire since this song came out.
I will also get some detractors for this comment, but I love the MV's this band produces ... so thank you :) . I would also highly recommend the MV's for MORE and my current favorite AUTOMATIC SUN. Nice reaction ;) .
