Ikopta xD i would be too, bough one of thiese otg few days ago, how do you check the remote/drone connection signal? It now says HD in that menu, and wifi signal icon top right is washed out.

Ikopta PS does using the OTG cable reduce power consumption on the iPhone? Had a play this evening and it really sucks the power from the phone when connecting to transmitter via wifi

Hey brother. First, you are very annoying. Second, I have watched upwards of 12 hours of youtube videos trying to figure out so much stuff with the Spark I bought and received less than a week ago, and you, hands down have been the most help. I'll deal with your caffeine/meth addiction, because you for sure know what you are doing and talking about.

So quite nice tutorial. I saw a lot of your videos before, and I don’t liked them, because of the presentation style, even they were very helpful. Today, I changed my mind, and I decided to subscribe with notifications for the future videos. Why? Maybe because everybody in comments for this video said that you are yelling, that’s obvious, but.... after my OTG experience (where I completely mixed the line of movements, and almost had an fly away with OTG) sometimes is really necessary to yell to someone to remember obvious things ;)
And, I have one question to you, and if you have some time, please consider some small tutorial about it. So, OK iPhone/iPad OTG connected to Spark’s RC, which wi-fi to choose to connect RC and Spark? 2.4 or 5.8? I’m in Europe, you’re in Europe, I don’t like hacks (FCC) and things like that. So pure and simple, what you will choose for better AC - RC connectivity? 5.8 in towns & 2.4 in the rest of locations?
I’m not asking because of the flight range, but simply for better and safe connection to prevent some potential incidents.

Yep, was about to send the cable back! you saved the vendor a return :-) the wiring sequence makes all the difference. Plug and play ... with the plugs until you find out how to play

Thank you Dylan, got it working using OTG. I would be grateful for any advice on a couple issues i am experiencing with it though. 1. Custom RC buttons have to be reset after every power on; 2. Cannot see Spark's Wifi Signal Strength (which makes me a bit nervous); 3. Cannot control the RC Wifi i.e. cannot switch to 2.4 GHz and select channels. Perhaps you don't have these problems or have a solution? Very many thanks in advance for your kind assistance in this matter. Joe

Please could you do a how to bind two controllers and two DJI goggles to a Mavic without getting the dreaded "No signal" warning in the app. Dont have 2 controllers or 2 sets of goggle! No problem i can send you mine if you want. DJI AHHHHHHHHHHHH
1 set goggles 2 controllers work no problem. Advanced linking for 2 sets and its "No signal " time.
Step 7 , plug the micro USB is remote controler (unplug and plug) fixed my problem , tks !

Awesome instructions! One question ..after all those steps when I go into the dji app main page the icon at the bottom left shows wifi icon .. shouldn't it show the controller icon ? I had airplane mode on so zero connection .

Can't you place the iphone all the way in the guides with the cable on?
If you want to, there are slots the arms. using the iPhone 7plus, I have it down so I can get to the camera buttons to screen shot.
Nice! But then, why not to rotate 180 the iphone so the buttons are downwards?

That sucks no gps with otg cable so if you get interference or something you're sol. Its also not showing distances only height. Dji cant monitor flights when we do that so new update with better wifi range no longer works with otg. I wasted my money but atleast its only one cable. You can buy a ios end with micro usb on the other on one otg 6 inch cable. I subbed so hope you respond about no gps with otg or distance. Thanks
Love your confidence, but you need one more essential piece of information. The OTG-USB cable is 1-directional. This means that if the wrong end is plugged into the RC, then it WILL NOT WORK. The markings on the cable (if any) are rarely intuitive. For others with this problem: if you are not connecting, try reversing the direction of the cable (especially relevant for Android users).
So... I can fly okay with it... but why we lost all battery information while connecting this cable?

How do you keep your iOS from overheating while flying the drone. My iPhone 6 plus gets really hot and shuts off by the second flight. I was thinking of making an external heat sink plate to set behind the iPhone to help dissipate the heat? Any who appreciate any info. Thanks
Hey Russell, good question. I assume hot, as in out in the sun? Or is it hold because of being used? I have issue with iPad mini, when using when sun shines. I've seen people using ice cooler packs to keep the temp down, they say it works. If over heating due to usage, double check no other apps open, after that 🤷♂️. I guess make sure not faulty?

OK!!! NOW I FIND OUT!!! THE OTG CABLE HAS DIRECTION! MY OTG CABLE IS FOR ANDROID AND IT HAS THE SAME KIND OF PLUG BOTH ENDS, BUT IT HAS DIRECTION! JUST CONNET THE OTHER WAY AROUND AND IT WORKS!!! LOTS OF OTG CABLES NOT WORKING OUT THERE I BET IT IS THE DIRECTION PROBLEM! HOPE THIS HELP!

I use an android phone. When I connect the cable into the phone, it automatically launches the app. But for some reason the phone charges off of the controller. odd
Use the same hook-up sequence with an Android, ie Samsung 5?

Calvin, depends on location and what tablet you use. I still need mine.
Everything working and fine with latest firmware with my Ipad mini. Bought the Spark last week as my first drone. I changed it to 2.4 Ghz and and put in my OTG this morning to test. No issues here in Southern England.

Ahhh... here's the problem for me. BOTH the lighting to usb cables I got do not work. They just don't fit correctly into the iPhone and constantly lose connection. You have to really push, then they move anyway. So... get a REAL certified cable or you're liable to lose connection mid flight. Thanks!
Wen i do this my phone dose not tell me it isnt supported. It justconnects right away without any battery features. Everyting says n/a but will still let me fly. I dont like this i have no features availible woth otg connection

I got it! I thought I had the wrong micro usb to micro usb cable for my Samsung j7 prime that I purchased off of Amazon. I reversed the cable to where the usb symbol was on the controller and then it recognized it. I'm not sure why that mattered but it worked for me. Honestly, I may not have had a good connection the other way but worked. It automatically opened the DJI app and I put my phone into airplane mode. Now, I just have to go do a test flight. Just did my first flight connected via cable and in airplane mode and it was a huge success. I'm happy now. Now, if I could just see the live view on the screen better in daylight.

David, I would plug into the DJI Assistant on Mac or PC to make sure no firmware mis-match. Make sure all firmware is up-to date. Are you using iOS or android?
Thanks for your time Dylan, I'm using an ipad and all firmware is up to date. If I just use wifi everything works lovely but i'm scared to death of getting a fly away :( although having said that I never fly any distance where the spark is out of sight....

Great got mine working perfect thanks ! One query though, with the FONE in flight mode & wifi, Bluetooth off, how do you get the map to show on the FONE down in the bottom left corner ? I can see the snail trails but they are on a blank screen. Also how do l get and link the sound from my FONE it's recording to be used on the final video as l used it in an interview ? It must be somewhere as when l playback the video while Spark is still on the preview has sound ? Please help and advise if you can , cheers flash
You need to cache the maps before you start.Open the app when you have wifi (at home etc) go into the may, zoom in/out, move it around the area you will be flying then close the phone (do not shut down app, double clicking home &swiping etc) then when you get to site, the maps should be there.
Do you have to use Apple maps or can you use Google when Caching? I never used Apple products until I bought this drone

It won't, the App does not need wifi. Just the steps, and follow exactly.

I'm using Samsung S8+ with OTG and my doesn't show height, distance, or allow return to home when connected with OTG. Is this normal? Also seems to limit how far away I can fly.
Are you able to get a screen shot of the settings?
Ikopta I ended up trying a old iPhone 6s and that works fine with otg cable. Appears to be related to the model of phone.

NO, IT DOES NOT WORK! IT WORKS ON GO4 OLD SOFTWARE BUT WHEN I UPGRADE THE GO4 APP. IT NOT WORK ANY MORE, WILL STOP YOU FROM GETTING INTO THE APP, UNLESS WIFI CONNECTED!

Interesting.... 1) switch on craft, 2) switch on controller, 3) wait for green light on controller, 4) plug in otg cable/lighting lead, 5) plug in tablet/iphone. 6) switch on tablet/open go4 app.. 7) Ignor the "not supported" message. 8) fly drone.

The order of the steps is important. Plugging the cable into the controller before the other end is connected to the iPhone won’t work. Perhaps you should mention this and maybe cut down on the coffee. Excellent information otherwise, but extremely annoying presentation.

Damn, after following your instructions and using 3 phones and 2 cables I realised some phones dont work (mine) and some so called OTG cables don't work either. :( So I now need to somehow steal my Daughters phone to fly....
