In fairness, being equally terrible in both hands is certainly ambidextrous. (Edit: SaltExarch pointed out that there's actually a separate term "Ambisinister" for being equally bad in both hands)

Actually, there's a separate term for that, called Ambisinister. Ambidextrous as a term basically translates to "two right hands" meaning you're dexterity in your left hand matches the dexterity in your right. (Obviously stemming from the predominance of right-handed individuals). Ambisinister means you have "two left hands", so the opposite. You have the coordination of a right-handed person's left hand in both hands.

Also hilarious because as someone who is legitimately ambidextrous, it's so hard to prove (and I know a lot of replies to this comment are gonna be "lmao yeah right you're not ambidextrous this is BS") because the world basically says "hey, you can use BOTH HANDS? Cool! The world is built for righties so you should probably just stick to that." So like 80% of the time I use my right hand for most things anyway.

Yeah I have this too. Things like writing and eating I can pretty much only do with my right hand just because I'm used to it, but then it gets weird because there's also things I can only do with my left hand, and then a very small percentage of things I can switch between them.
Yep, after so long (I'm pretty old) I found it far easier to just use my right. It's a cool party trick at this point.

Dexterity is interesting as it seems the problems lie in wrist motions, not fingers. I can write with my left hand but not my right (where the main motions are from the arm and wrist, with fairly minor finger work, mostly gripping and wiggling), but when doing things that require complex finger movements like piano both hands can pull off stuff with enough practice.
Huh, that's an interesting thought. For a lot of string instruments, the standard way is to use the left hand to press on the strings to set the note. While the right plucks, strums, or bows the strings

I’m naturally right-handed, but I exclusively used my left hand for seven years until it was equal with my right. So I prefer using my left because it’s the default, but I’m naturally right-handed, but I can use both equally. So I guess I’m ambidextrous, but not naturally.
I’m left handed when writing (which I don’t think happened with anyone else in my family), but I’m ambidextrous for practically everything else, so I have to explain that “oh yeah I’m a leftie for writing but for everything else I’m ambidextrous”

I'm a leftie but find my right hand to be much more capable than most people's "weak" hand. Not ambidextrous, but I can do just about anything with my right hand if I want or need to. Nailing a hammer, etc. Gonna feel awkward and won't be quite as clean but gets the job done for sure. Always wondered if that's just a general trend with lefties (we life in a righty world, some things basically need to be done right handed, or require special equipment) or personal dexterity.
When the world's majority is right-handed, the most equipment is made right-hand focused. The reason why lefties have more skill in the "off-hand" than righties is because they just need to train the off-hand more to use the equipment. People who are ambidextrous will probably use the right-hand more often because that's just how tools are usually designed.
My son used to really confuse his baseball coach. Up to bat as a leftie, next time as a rightie.

I use both hands regularly for most thing, including drawing, painting, soldering, sewing, and other tasks. The number of times scissors have tripped me up is innumerable. It takes me a long, long time to determine which side is which (I have given up and resorted to "your side" and "my side" when giving directions... 'Take a your side at the next light.'), but my mother thought I was going to be left-handed when I was younger. I think I write more with my right hand, but just to avoid smudging. I know most mugs are designed to be held in the left hand, because I never notice which hand it is in until I get sad the punny dad jokes are facing me as I walk down the hall and not my coworkers. Hey! I am amplitortious too! I'm a false righty. Decided to write with my right hand in kindergarten because everyone else was - which was the best decision ever since I could eat and do my homework at the same time during lunch hours. Everything else I can do with both.
While I'm left handed, there are a surprising amount of things I can do better with my right hand.... like I write with my left but play badminton with my right. I know that's not being ambidextrous, but it sure feels like it sometimes 😂

I love how he has APD through all this. Basically how I felt when I was listening to people as a kid. “I don’t care” became “care bear stare.” Sometimes, I could clearly hear someone was talking but nothing that came out of their mouth sounded like English. Thank god I memorized my version of English that I hear people talk otherwise, I’d have far more awkward conservation of explaining that I only heard the person swearing and I was fairly certain that they didn’t say murder but can’t figure out what they actually said.

I suffer from ambidextrous as well. I constantly change eating and drinking hands when at restaurants. At work, I keep forgetting if I left the stapler, timestamper and pens on my left side or right side. Some days the clutter up one side, and I just say to myself, “Okay, was left handed today.” Or, “ah, this time I was right handed.”
Things go missing a lot with all this ambitiousness.
