The Taemas Bridge was opened in 1931 and was built by Tulloch Ltd, heavy engineers that used to be located in Rhodes, Sydney. Tulloch are best remembered as the builders of the first double decker suburban railway carriages used in Sydney. It’s also where I did my Cadetship as a production engineer and fitter and turner (who knows what either of these jobs do?). The river crossing at Wee Jasper was a ford back in the day. I remember a Canberra Motorcycle Club ride from The Cotter via Brindabella Road, Five Ways, down through the Brindabella Valley and on to Tumult for lunch. The return route was via Wee Jasper. One member of our group decided to wheelie his Yamaha XT660 through the ford. Halfway across the ford one of the Yamaha’s hand grips slipped off, dumping the rider into the river - the highlight of the day 😀😄😆🤔😫😬 Stop with the reminiscing… I really like your videos, Peter
How are the legs, lots of standing on that day. Certainly don't have the capabilities of you two so Swallow Tail Pass won't be on my route even though you say it's not that bad. Another interesting ride with the GS's (or is it GSA)
We are getting pretty 'match fit'. Well, the more you ride, the easier it gets. Toni said she's not doing SWP again - she did think it was a little risky. I keep saying confidence (and being positive) is the key, but saying it doesn't help. They are just GS's - GSA too tall.
for 4wds, do you reckon you could do swallow tail pass at highway tyre pressures? or is it better to go down to 20 psi or so (love your videos btw, super informative)
STP would be done by heaps of 4WDs and I'd think most wouldn't reduce their tyre pressure. We passed a lady who looked like she'd done it tons of times. I guess if it was wet, you'd consider it then? The river crossing has recently been graded - smoothened out.
Best review and advice. I'm looking to do the crossing on ANZAC day.
Hope you enjoyed the ride!
