I think is so selfish for fans to demand the cute concept back even tho jeongyeon and jihyo expressed many times how uncomfortable they were, jeongyeon said that she was unhappy dancing to TT
Literally. She even said in an interview that she wanted to do a different concept especially being a young woman in her early 20‘s and not be told to do a concept she didn‘t feel necessarily comfortable in. Jihyo also cringed when talking about What Is Love‘s choreography
@@MLedZeppelinZoSoA not you basically calling songs like I Can‘t Stop Me, Cry For Me, Alcohol-Free, Talk That Talk and so on cringe. Oh get away, tasteless person
i personally think taste of love is twice’s best work in terms of maturing their sound/image. it has this sorta “girls night out” vibe to it and ngl, it’s something i would like to see more of.
Mature honestly suits them better. Don’t get me wrong, cute Twice will always have a place in my heart but I think with how the girls themselves have grown into adults, it makes sense that their music grow up with them
True & I doubt the girls would even want to back to cute as Jihyo & Jeongyeon have spoken about not caring to that type of concept anymore & Jeongyeon mentioning recently that the TT dance made her unhappy. I do hope they can do a Miss A type of concept in the future like breathe, hush or good girl bad girl considering they are all adults & a few have done similar dances/covers at their concerts.
I think the upcoming Strategy might be girl crush yet sexy concept (?) maybe the song itself feat Megan, and the first image teaser, their high heels is so girl crush hahaha
Like someone in their late 20 won’t suit a song as childish as TT and Likey. It makes sense Twice gets more mature songs. Even Jeongyeon has stated she prefers more mature songs.
It would have made more sense to leave on a high note and call it quits in 2019 because the majority of their releases after that year have been stinkers.
Honestly if Twice does something like Yes or Yes and Scientist that are leas childish then Candy pop and TT it could work. But something like TT would not.
In Twice's case, it seemed like a natural evolution, they've been a group for 9 years, they smartly transitionned from something more cute like Yes or Yes to Fancy that was more mature but still quite bubbly, followed by Feel Special that had a more elegant feeling. Twice are grown women, their songs are going to grow with them obviously.
honestly ive observed that most people that wish for twice to get back to their cute concept arent even onces. if youre a once you know really well that that they dont feel comfortable anymore with the cute concept and want to do different things. jeongyeon for example said many times that she disliked the cute songs they had to perform... and i think that a "mature" concept suits all of them very much and comes off as natural.
as a baby once who is more familiar with their recent works- stuff like “more and more”, “i can’t stop me”, “talk that talk”, “feel special”, “moonlight sunrise”, “one spark”, “dive”, and misamo’s “do not touch” are exactly what i want them to keep making (if they want to). they’re grown women and deserve to be doing more than playing cutesy schoolgirls with crushes. i like some of their cuter songs (big fan of signal, what is love, candy pop, and scientist) but i’d get bored with the concept, too, if i was them. besides, a more mature concept doesn’t mean we can’t still have fun. abcd may be a solo song, but it’s proof that a twice member can shed the bubblegum pop image and it feels natural as well as being a blast to listen to!
Exactly!! Same here! I LOVE the more mature music!! I GOT YOU, Set me free, Rush, Bloom, Identity, KMG, Abcd, run away, Dive, like damn these songs are all SO GOOD!
couldn't agree more!! im personally manifesting some more "flexing/bragging" lyrics like we got a bit in their collab with Megan Thee Stallion and in Icon. Not necessarily rap, but just letting them flex and have a cool concept without romance in the front and centre
I think people think that the only alternative to a cute concept is girl crush. This is obviously not the case and there's so much room for Twice to grow outside of a cute comeback without fully abandoning their style/sound. For example, their Japanese release "Doughnut" was perfect to me because it was sonically very Twice but had depth to it. the music video had a narrative with mystery and allure. Perfect World similarly had a narrative which was refreshing and we got to see a more powerful side to them. I don't want Twice to just recycle a formula which worked 5 years ago. They have grown as people since then and fans should give them the grace to grow artistically too!
As a hardcore once one of the things that makes twice stand out to me is how they have grown as artists and as people. It makes them seem real and authentic. For me, twice’s mature concepts add depth to their brand. Personally I love cute and mature twice equally as without one we would not be able to appreciate the other. I’m just really proud to see how far they have come and I will continue supporting them no matter what.
kinda want them to drop something like OTT by IVE or wishing on you (JIHYO) in terms of concept! i feel like a soulmates concept would've taken off after the development of their coming of age one. sort of like, some soulmates are platonic, some are lovers, some are family, some are pets, etc!
I've been thinking a lot about what makes a Twice concept a Twice concept, and I think it's something I'm gonna try to break down if possible. It's just a big task, but thank you for this video because it does offer a helpful perspective :)
i adore cutesy concepts but there’s a reason twice aren’t the only gg in the industry; there are plenty of groups killing that concept! their old music never went away either so there’s no reason twice should regress just bc some people want them to. also scientist & TTT are cutesy but were paid dust (😭) so… i’m happy they have a grown sound and want them to move away from the topic of love overall though. i know they have more interesting stories to tell
I need Twice to have REAL concepts again, photos concept that are not just relying on their beauty and a plain background. I've been a Once since TT and I just loved when title tracks like I can't stop me, More and More, Alcohol Free or even Talk that Talk seemed to follow a specific vibe. I agree that nowadays JYPE had gotten extremely complacent with Twice, relying on their established fanbase instead of finding ideas to attract new fans. Let's hope their new title coming out in December will be promoted better.
I personally don't agree, but to each their own I guess. Imo their best work so far has been the last few releases-- Between 1/2, RTb, With YOuth (this is probably their most incredible mini album) and Dive (my fave concept they have ever done. The whole underwater fantasy world theme was stunning!)
I love and appreciate Twice’s entire body of work from cuter concepts to more mature concepts. I think you’re exactly right when you say that JYP has gotten complacent when it comes to the creative direction and concepts behind Twice’s more recent releases. Specifically I think they could do a better job of choosing the title tracks. I love all of Twice’s title tracks but sometimes I find the chosen title track to be weaker compared to some of the b-sides (which says a lot for how strong their albums are as a whole). Musically I think With You-th is one of their best albums to date, but in my opinion One Spark as a title track lacked a strong vision and concept. Twice said in an interview that it was a b-side that they chose not to use for a previous album. Which in my opinion is why it feels a little out of place in the album as a whole. I really think that whoever is on the creative team behind Twice’s Japanese releases is doing a much better job of fully realizing concepts. Their Japanese releases always have the most beautiful visuals and they’re much more experimental with the music they give Twice as well. I think the creative team behind Twice’s Korean projects should be taking notes from their Japanese creative team. Most recently Misamo’s Haute Couture is sonically such a good album. The music is so pleasing to listen to and they gave them an amazing concept to work with. Anyway, sorry for the novel. I love Twice and I am always excited and appreciative of whatever they have to offer us. Ever since their contract renewal I feel like every thing they release is a gift for us.
youre right on the money, it's like TWICE's japanese creative team is more honed in on ensuring everything aligns. like take DIVE for example, from the music video to the lyrics to the concept work to the choreo to the b-sides, it all feels very complete. same with haute couture as you mentioned, even though new look and identity are very sonically different and experimental, especially for a sub-unit, they feel connected, cohesive, and the idea of the album are full realised. twice's korean team puts together excellent music videos, and they production quality is top notch, but the concept work is lacking. i got you is a stronger realisation of the idea with you-th was trying to express than one spark, though both songs are still very good. it's not that the team cannot put in the work for concept work, it's that JYP doesn't feel like it. with their upcoming 14th(wow!!) mini album, strategy, i'm really hoping that JYP and twice's creative team put in the effort to fully realise the concept twice wants to explore. they deserve it!!!
YOURE SO RIGHT ABOUT ONE SPARK I didn’t know it was an older b side but that doesn’t surprise me I really felt like there was a cohesion in the b sides that one spark kinda didn’t have There also wasn’t a visual identity at all to this album 😭 it literally felt like Walmart brand twice in terms of the packaging and marketing of it all The bsides are pretty good and I do like one spark as a song still, but it’s like idk the way that album was delivered im not a huge fan of
Yeah that’s how I feel too. I was so surprised when I heard One Spark after I got You and then after I heard the rest of the songs. One Spark is good but it just feels out of place. Personally I would’ve picked Rush or Bloom as the title track
Good take on this topic. I agree that Taste of Love is the best recent album concept they have, and it's sad that they seem to have forgotten it. With YouTh, I think is a step in the right direction but not as solid narrative-wise. I also don't like it when Div3 is criticized as if the members did not have a say in it. At this point in their careers, they do have a say in what they do. Criticizing Div3 spills to the members as well. With that though, I have an impression that the members themselves also do not have a clear idea yet of what they want to do, and it reflects on the recent albums with weak overall concept and narrative. I do appreciate the new sounds they want to try. I'm just looking for a more cohesive story their releases
I feel like it went from teens, to young adults, to full grown women. I think they showed in a very classy way the growth and different facets that come with becoming/being a woman. It was natural and gradually and I think going back would mess with that whole growth pattern.
Maturity suits them so much, especially Jihyo and Nayeon. I love that they are getting what they want. So, for them to be forced back to rookie years...just feels wrong, they are grown women 29 to 25. Their music should grow with them. I Can't Stop Me is one of their best songs to me, because it fitted them soooo well, same for Cry For Me. I really want darker concepts by them (*cough* vampire concept *cough*). So, I agree...and I think it's disrespectful to try to force them into a box that some of them were uncomfortable in
for fans to demand that they go back to their original concept, is so selfish! they're women who've grown up physically, lost there teenage features and discovered new concepts they want to try. The older members didn't even like having the cute concept in the first place, they expressed that they were unhappy with it. Growing up means finding what concepts and writing styles they like more. Let Twice be (ready to) they're happy where they are and deserve that peace without criticism from grown men who can't get over it.
I feel like Fancy, More And More, and Alcohol free type of songs are the solution of this problem. I'm that Once who really like cute concept. I stan Twice since I was young and I feel like I'm growing up with them together (yay to 97 liners). Even after I'm much older, I still really like cute concept because the songs are always so bubbly and brighten my day. I secretly always hope Twice released more cute concept, but I also understand that some of the members already done with that 😂 so I hope they're released music like the three songs I mentioned before. It's kinda mature but still have Twice's essence, because tbh I don't really see Twice in their recent releases. Also, my point is...ppl still can released cute song even if they're "old". Just like some Japanese kawaii songs, they're tend to released cute songs even tho the singer is old. I type this because I saw bunch of comment that said that Twice can't released cute song because they're old. Hey...if they want to...they're absolutely still can!!! But maybe not some type crushing on boy in the MV. And...it's okay to unstan or just casually stanning a group just because their music not allign with your taste anymore. Fandom means to be fun, so don't press yourself too hard to stan a group!
Cute is such a level surface word, it make things feel childish. Alcohol free is a great song. The message its simple "when I'm with i feel like I'm drunk but instead of alcohol is love" There's this innocence in talking about how you feel when you're in love but it's not in a cute way or childlike way but i would describe it as cheeky. And the song is genius because it mentions this tropical cocktails and the rhythms/melodies are more latin-bossa nova inspire. Is a tropical, summer-y song. And the video, visual concept is so well executed. Is a well thought song throughout. ❤ Scientists is also a great song. The message is also simple "when it comes to feelings (love) you can't rationalise it. Love is something that happens, don't be so serious and let yourself enjoy it. " The whole concept is scientist, lab coats and experiments. And even the sound is more fun and experimental. The dance break is so fun 😍 they tell you don't be serious and have fun! Scientist and alcohol free, concept and feeling wise are closer to what is love?. What is love? Concept was also innocent and simple "is the desire to experience and understand what is love, something that they see in movies but have yet to find in their daily lives" The song portrays the subject of love more like a childlike wonder wich makes it lean towards the cuter side but, as i said before, alcohol free, scientists and what is love? Feel closer to each other because they have a simple message, a clear and concrete concept and visual, a mv that accompanies the message and is fun to watch, and a sound that truly encapsulates the feeling and idea of the song
200% agree. Twicetagram and Taste of Love are the most cohesive sonically and based on concept I like Scientist but it didnt fit the Formula of Love vibe. 90% of the song were towards cool and chic and Rewind, Espresso, and Cactus. I mean, Scientist sounded the opposite vibe from most of the rest of the album
I really love to see “girls sleepover”, “girls night” or “elegant” type of concept in TWICE like Alcohol Free, Yes or Yes, Feel Special & ICSM (in K-POP), I also really like when they do Ballads (¿?) like Doughnut or Be as ONE that are at the same time mature. (J-POP) I think pointing this out doesn’t make me less of a fan. I obviously like their songs, it’s just that some stick out more for me. If I wasn’t a fan, I wouldn’t have been to their concert or have all their albums. I love TWICE, but I don’t wanna see them acting like “16-year-old cute girls with a sweet school crush while cherry blossoms fall in the background”.
From what I get on their recent releases, they lean more on the concept than the general public likings. If you notice on their album names, its different on other group album name releases, its about themselves rather than the title track itself. But this coming album is named 'Strategy' so this comeback is very different. Between 1 and 2 - Celebrate their contract renewal, you can tell from the vibe of the songs with the album Between 1 and 2 to correlate between once and twice. Ready to be - Embracing maturity, songs that are powerful using strong genre elements like rock and strong beats genre also with moonlight sunrise (i need you o'clock) lol but also a songs for their upcoming world tour. With Youth - Friendship, longevity and growth, just by the title and concept of every music on the album you can tell the message of the lyrics leaning to that concept. Twice has been doing this all the time on their album thats why I very liked their album overall and not like just the Title track itself, especially FOL with the disco early 2000 vibe which is my very favorite album with them
@@m.syauqiabdurahman2798I think its gonna be good, it is different from their recent releases just by the title itself just like I mention on my main comment. I think were gonna enter an era of twice were they are done on correlating their concept about themeselves as an artist and for fans. They are gonna start releasing music that capture general public attention now especially the collab that is happening left and right for them. I dont mind the family friendly and appreciation music but kpop stans are so comfortable discrediting twice and their success.
@@m.syauqiabdurahman2798 I think its gonna be good just by the album title name itself, just like i mention on my main comment. They will start releasing a songs that were gonna capture general public attentions and more mainstream, especially the collabs their taking left and right. I dont mind Family friendly and appreciation songs on Twice but Kpop stans are so annoying and comfortable now on discrediting Twice and their success as a group on their 9 years in the industry.
omg i totally agree with you. i also find those who point out that twice havent been performing as well as they used to exhausting. twice are almost 10 years into their career, they dont have to continue to reach a peak forever, and its extremely overwhelming to hold artists to that. as a newjeans stan, people expect them to continue to break records with every release, when theyve already broken almost all of them, so seeing that happen with twice is disheartening. i think its unfair to want artists to continually do what is popular and brings in the most people, instead of prioritizing what the artists want to do.
These girls are getting older not younger. If they choose to retire the cutesy concept and switch to a more mature concept, they can do it. They are already grown adults, almost 30, who are free to make their own decisions and we cannot control how they promote themselves towards the public
Set Me Free was the right direction Twice were going but perhaps it wasn’t a strong title (?). Something more akin to Moonlight Sunrise would work better in their favors but with elements of Set Me Free. Or they could do something similar to Cosmic - Red Velvet. Maybe it would be ‘too different’ for them as they haven’t done something like that but I think they can pull it off!
I am into Kpop since 2014 and I became a fan of Twice after they changed their cute concept. I have never liked their early title tracks, especially TT, Likey, What is love. My fav song by them is Feel special and that's the song that turned my head to look what they will release next. Btw, I have never liked cute concepts to begin with so it is all personal preferences
I think Twice going back to their cute concept will give the same kind of sonic whiplash that Itzy induced with “Loco”. As Mera put it, Yeji with hot pink hair and mixed clothing options made her look like a grown woman dressed as a teenager. They’re all grown women with some approaching 30. If they try to do the same thing as their juniors, it’s going to look so desperate and be the final nail in the coffin that houses what’s left of their career. Personally, I think the issue is that their western music is typically “safe”. “I Can’t Stop Me”, “Moonlight Sunrise”, “Set Me Free”, “One Spark” etc. feel a little cookie cutter. ICSM is still iconic. But that was in 2020. While third gen groups still saw success, it was short lived. Mamamoo’s rise in popularity from Queendom helped throughout the year. Oh My Girl had one successful comeback before going back on hiatus. GFriend and CLC finally hit their strides in the west before being unceremoniously disbanded. AOA was destroyed by Kwon Mina. And Red Velvet was on hiatus due to Wendy’s injury. The 4th gen wasn’t rivaling Twice much either. (G)I-DLE wasn’t as dominant as they are now. Everglow were just starting to solidify their place in the industry. Loona didn’t have the tools needed to succeed under Blockberry. Aespa and STAYC had just recently debuted. The 4th generation had basically just started. And then we got one group after another. IVE, Kep1er, Billlie, NMIXX, Le Sserafim, NewJeans, etc. Suddenly the industry was inundated with competition that pushed Twice and Itzy to the side. While I enjoyed Twice’s music since “Talk That Talk”, I struggle to remember how any of it sounds. Especially not compared to the uniqueness of “Next Level” and “O.O”, the beauty of “Love Dive”, the excitement of “Antifragile” and “Gingamingayo”, or the nostalgia of “Attention”. I legit would’ve forgotten that “One Spark” existed if it wasn’t memed to death on Twitter. So, what’s my solution? Look at pop tracks throughout the years that were considered cultural resets or deeply iconic. First thing that comes to mind is “Into You” by Ariana Grande. Just go fully in the mature direction. Another that makes its rounds is “Run Away With Me” by Carly Rae Jepsen. And then I think of past works that Twice hasn’t capitalized off of. I would commit arson for a full album with “Cry For Me” as the main sound. It’d be like Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do”! Let’s recap this past year… Pink Fantasy went on hiatus. Nature disbanded. PIXY’s company went MIA and more members officially left. DreamNote has remained loyal to their cuter concepts and abandoned “Ghost”. Dreamcatcher is moving more in Christian rock territory. “ChiII KiII” by Red Velvet was hated. Everglow tried doing a horror concept that wasn’t well received. And I think Loosemble did something recently but I’m behind on checking out comebacks. Oh yeah, and Purple Kiss released SOTY but have withered into nugudom because RBW can’t do their job right (like how they sent Oneus onto Road To Kingdom season two instead of releasing an album…). There’s a huge gap in the KPop market right now for creepy/horror concepts. Twice could easily do something like CFM and it’d be a cultural reset. Where as Red Velvet’s niche is rapid change, Twice’s is evolution. They have a much slower growth throughout their concepts and are allowed to grow up with their audiences. Unfortunately, they’re hit a plateau where they’re not doing anything noteworthy despite the freedom they have to really explore early adulthood concepts. They kinda just half heartedly do so instead of fully committing (much like Itzy in concepts like “Not Shy” and “Cake”). You can make western appealing music without coming off as lackluster. Just look at Nayeon’s “ABCD”. That really took the industry by storm! Twice has it in them. But whether they fly or fall off of the runway they have laid out in front of them is anyone’s guess. We’ve seen how cutthroat this generation of KPop is. Nearly double the amount of 4th gen groups debuted compared to 3rd gen ones. And concept consistency goes a long way. Even groups with exceptional discographies like Fromis 9 aren’t finding the traction they need. That’s what happens when everyone wants to get their piece of the western market opened up by BTS, Blackpink, Stray Kids, NewJeans, and Fifty Fifty. And now with Baby Monster, Meovv, Katseye, VHCA, and Kiss Of Life leading the 5th gen (with SME’s new girl group coming out early next year), it’s that time when 3rd gen groups need to stop chasing the charts and ensure that their popularity is successful enough where they can ensure surviving in the long run. I think I’ve said enough lol I don’t think Twice is disappearing anytime soon. The members clearly love being together. But JYPE, you need to get your act together. The only group you’ve been consistent with in terms of artistic direction as of last has been Stray Kids. And that was after they adopted their own sound. The company needs to put everything on pause and reassess where things are going as we move into the new generation.
Lol sorry can you explain what you mean by Christian rock bc as an Insomnia this is confusing AND funny as most people actually harass us for being "the devil's group". Interestingly we also have a very annoying core that wants them to go back to their debut sound, not understanding that they've grown out of it and instead of just making Korean jrock, they've created the unique Dreamcatcher sound. I also wanna add that if this was meant more as a negative remark, it was a very well received album. Our power is slowly dwindling over the years but I think 3 years after Boca that is fine. Especially since sales are consistently over 120k and you summarised well how dire the 3rd gen situation is. Dreamcatcher being one of the only non big 4 left also often makes them the only 3rd gen group at festivals etc (as big 4 doesn't mess with that small stuff anymore). Just wanted to add this bc Dreamcatcher is musically doing fine. Everything else, we have to see probably next year as contracts should be up. Also the company's direction is confusing and not communicated at all but they only have like 20 employees so...we're used to it Also I could make a whole thread just about creepy concept, I think you've missed the part where all creepy groups disbanded bc no one gaf. Only Dreamcatcher can pull it off bc they have the rock sound on top and even they deviated from the concept itself mostly. They filled this niche so much that even big RBW couldn't fill it with Purki (also don't agree on Soty, they lacked budget and the song was basically a 2Rings copy but that's my opinion). The only group who got away with it is RV but they're big 4 and their sound is mainly pop. Why do you think every group is scrambling for concepts but rather repeats what has been done a thousand times than being the new DC? The big companies are the only ones that could make it work (as fans have double standards and just eat up everything from them) but guess what - they're not touching a creepy concept with a stick. That's how unpopular it is.
I wish jyp divisions wouldn't half-arse itzy and twice comebacks like they have been, as someone whos been a big fan of both for years especially itzy, it's heart breaking yet a standard I have come to expect that with each other their combacks is that conceptually, it will always feel at a lack. The only one's I feel are really doing it well are div1 and sqaud, both of wish definitely still have issues. Especially coming to division 1 and what must be mentioned, Stray Kids, I feel like the only reason why there concept, sound and image are as solidified as they are is purely due to their involvement in the creative process. The day we start to see more input of twice as artists that doesn't feel sabotaged is the day we are saved
is talk that talk considered a cute concept? i am not super familiar with twice's opinions on that track, but personally i think it was a very strong one that wasn't super cutesy that really suited the twice members! but aside from talk that talk i think i can't stop me + alcohol free were two incredible songs that have a maturity to them that really hits all the points that both twice (as it seems) and fans are looking for
Honestly there are twenty other groups who have dark concept or cool concepts. It's getting tiring! I think TWICE should stick to their cute concept which can also be mature at the same time like Talk That Talk, Celebrate, POP, Scientist, The feels, Alcohol free. It's cute and mature at the same time (they are not trying to act like kids so that should be fine)
I got into them because of their cute style, and i stayed with them because their style evolved. I love them because of who they are and the effort they put in their music 🫶. I love their cute concpet but i also love the new concepts theyre doing now. They still have that twice charm to them
totaly agree. There are other groups that are delivering the cuteness now with aesthics and enthusiasm. As a newbie fan I feel that red velted has pass throught a similar trasition phase before. What a more adult market wants? Nayon and Jihyo solo songs with energic pop is a verified way. Maybe work on more subunits with more distintic sounds as misamo is doing too. A more balad, lyrical / emotional heavy sound could work too for members more on the chill side. But not at the point of unpreditability as itzy has become to me.
mature concept suits them just as good as the cute one. they were younger when they did cute concept and with time, as they grow and mature, it just makes more sense to naturally try something more grown. some of the members are literally 30, how long should they make cutesy sogs? not to say that 30 is old because it's not (i'm 25 and get pissed when people think we gotta stop having fun because of our age). i just think that if twice never stopped doing cheer up like music, people would get 1) bored and 2) DEMAND that twice will change their sound to a more mature one simply because of the members growig up, becoming grown women
We don't need more cute Twice, we need more Bloom / Good At Love's Twice! Imagine if Good At Love was a korean tt with a bold mv? SLAY *ALSO* Their Japanese releases have been way better since a while, i need to receive an explanation for that.
as someone who adored Twice's cute concepts (Likey is still in my top 5 twice songs of all time), I wish their mature concepts and albums were given the same attention to detail that their cute albums were. like I Can't Stop Me is also in my top 5 but I haven't had any desire to buy the album because everything about it was so lackluster: the album packaging was boring with their most plain concept photos to date & most of the b-sides were just ~ok~ (with the exceptions of queen, go hard, do what we like, and up no more). For that to be their 2nd full album after waiting since Twicetagram, it really disappointed me. But then, only two years later, they actually found the perfect balance between cute and mature with their 3rd full album Formula Of Love. They had two concepts, one that I wouldn't call cute but was certainly brighter, and two that were more mature and even a bit sexy. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS IS WHAT A FULL TWICE ALBUM SHOULD BE!! Not one, not two, not three, but FOUR amazing, distinct concept photos, their best album packaging to date, and a tracklist so good they haven't been able to top it yet. I feel the AMAZING tracklist rode the fine line between cute and mature by having a ""typical"" Twice title track but also having mature and unique b-sides. Moonlight, Espresso, Icon, Cruel, and Last Waltz for the darker sound and Fall In Love Again, Candy, The Feels and Scientist for the brighter sound! I pray for a day Twice will have another era as good at Formula Of Love, but I'm starting to fear it might never happen again 😞
FOL is a very special album. But, I must say that I still find all of their releases to be incredibly good and unmatched by other groups. Especially With YOUth and Dive. These are two PERFECT albums with absolutely stunning art, visuals, concept, and narrative. I GOT YOU will forever be one of my fave Twice songs and videos as well. This was a super emotional and special comeback for a lot of Onces. Sorry you didn't feel the same. And Dive is simply one of their best works musically speaking. The songs are SO STRONG and display meticulous writing and production. Pure art. I'm excited for the new album STRATEGY!!
The thing is, as a fan, if they went back to a cute concept, I know it won’t be genuine for them. The members are all in their mid to late 20’s, so going backwards doesn’t make sense for them as artists and people. I think they are at a transitional phase and are trying to find a right balance for what’s right for them. I do agree too, with the comments mentioning how well their Japanese albums and Misamo’s albums have been executed. I hope the same for their Korean albums. But with all that said, Twice is still putting out good music and the girls are working hard, so I will continue to support them. Also to those wishing for them to go back to cute concepts, the content is still there, just back and listen to it like everyone else does with out complaining.
I don't think I'll ever like anything more than I liked "Feel Special and before" Twice. The albums between Feel Special and Formula of Love were fine, but Formula of Love made me so happy, it felt like a breath of fresh air. The albums since Formula of Love have been fine and actually "With Youth" is great! I think the real issue is Twice has put out a ton of music and it's not all gonna hit the same lol. I think I'll always be a Once but expecting to love everything they put out is maybe not realistic. In pop music I look for these qualities: cute, happy, fun, uplifting, wholesome. I also listen to kpop to get away from American pop because most of it is pretty bad. Unfortunately in the pop world, "mature" usually just means "sexy" or boring. So no, I don't want Twice to become a boring group. But I don't think that's going to happen. I think they'll occasionally come out with a song that's a "miss" for me, but overall keep coming out with great music. :)
I 100% agree! Remember the reception to the first Set Me Free teaser? Fans and non-fans were so excited only for those scenes to not be used at all and the song being marketed as a love song. I really like the music video, there is so much cool imagery, but I wish Twice would have explained the song's and especially video's concept when reacting to the music video. Besides the fact that retro was kind of done with already when they released SMF, I blame this forced love song promotion and lack of explanation (and maybe even understanding?) for the song not being a huge hit, because it had everything else imo. Also, if you think about it, MiSaMo's Identity is the first title song to not be about romantic (or platonic) love. I do think though, that the self-love concept is kind of outdated... Understandable that they won't start spitting about how Korean norms and the entertainment industry are sh!t, but I'd love for them to take a niche in the realm of love and make that their concept for one comeback. For example: obsessive love (see Jealousy by MiSaMo and Obsession by Exo; there's a lot to be said with different approaches), moral dilemmas (first thought is Guilty As Sin by Taylor Swift; there is not a lot of material released that deals with this, there is so much potential), or a popular movie with album tracks based on individual interpretation of the selected movie intertwined with personal experiences (Ariana Grande's Eternal Sunshine is one of the best concept albums overall in a long time).
Tbh cute or mature all twice releases before 2023(except ms) are good songs but their recent songs have fallen off hard and the only really mature stuff I liked from them was icsm, ttt, and ms all their others in between more & more, alcohol free, scientist gave me cute vibes. Since 2022 is when I think twice ditched the cute concept with the except of icsm and only ttt and ms I honestly liked. It’s possible to make a mature concept song without it being bad imo something like ttt is what I’m hoping the sound is in strategy.
@@CaptainElijahAviationtrue it's rare to find avgeeks at other places.Although I had meet with many kpop fans who of course were also avgeeks when I was jn flight school
I will add one more thing. I think that JYP giving TWICE so many opportunities for side projects that have different flavors IS the company trying harder in concepts and marketing. TWICE's strength has always been the members and their personalities. The company never has had a problem of giving the girls something to do away from the main projects, but these sub-units, solos, and extra activities does a lot of legwork of keeping fans interested in the many personalities of TWICE. MISAMO is arguably far more mature than what TWICE proper is willing to go. Jihyo's solo had deeper lyrics and more soulful songs which showcase a deeper flavor. Nayeon and TZUYU's solo could be argued to be an extension of the TWICE sounds we're used to, but the company tweaked the formula just a little to that it fit the girls personalities. Plus we have Jeongyeon out there with a webseries that's doing pretty well drawing in attention from nonONCEs with acting-Dahyun doing more or less the same thing. While these separate opportunities are ways for the girls to do things on their own, it also is a low-key backdoor way of JYP saying "this is the talent we have, the things we can do. Want more? Well we have a group album in Dec". Perhaps I'm reaching. It's very possible. I just think with everything the members do, it always comes back to the group as a whole. They are ALWAYS talking about each other. Branching out and gaining attention here or there brings that attention back to the group.
tee bee ach scientist wasn’t a TRUE cute concept it was more on the side of what i like to call “bright mature” kind of like oh my mistake by april (rip)
The fan kpop fanbase never fails to utterly floor me. The cute concept is mastered by other groups currently active. It would come across as awkward if Twice returned to it now. They have moved on...but, as you say let them as they wish. Or I guess at least what JYP imposes on them
I LOVE their newer more mature music more than the old cute stuff (I still love that too lol) They have given some of the BEST quality music in kpop in the last few years. The songs are more than just a trendy copy/past typical bad bitch antichorus with a repetitive word or phrase (literally 90% of songs today). Twice has been giving full instrumental, thick layered harmonies, swooping dramatic melodies, thoughtful and unique arrangements, stellar vocals with charm and character, poetic lyrics and song messages that have depth...like I can't say enough good things about where they are today!!
Exactly almost all of them are pushing 30 lol you know how weird it to be see 30 yo women performing "TT", "Likey" or "What is Love"😭😭😂😂. No hate to those songs in fact I love them more than their current songs but expecting them to still make songs like that at their age is ridiculous and would just sound creepy. Although I still understand why some fans could be mad about them doing a little grown up concepts,95% of them probably started watching them during their "cute" era and such a massive change in concepts can cause disappointment for those fans. Groups or artists who have massive change of concepts during their career often struggle with this and have like an identity crisis in a way for undefined concept for the entire group. TWICE are facing something similar, they are constantly experimenting by changing concepts which probably causes disappointment to some of those fans. Personally, I myself am not a big fan of their newer releases, I think they sound way too Westernized now and although I have no issues with that since I literally live in the West but their sudden change in music style definitely didn't make me a big fan of it. But that being said, I don't necessarily hate them for experimenting with different concepts and I think they should probably keep doing it if they want to do so.
@@MLedZeppelinZoSoA you need to learn to move on. Artists can keep going in the direction they want and if you no longer like them or feel different just stick with their old releases. I did that with Muse... they deviated so much from their humble beginnings i stick with the old stuff
i love their mature concepts, but then again i like cute songs every now and then. but we have the whole first quarter of their catalog to listen to if we want something cute
If their music is good, I will listen. If I dont like it, I won't listen to it. There's no objective criteria for good music. I think out of their title songs, Heart Shaker, Likey, Fancy, fake and true, Icsm, doughnut, and one spark are peak. Some of them are quite different from each other, but equally fantastic.
cute twice is my favorite twice, but they’ve grown up and if it makes them uncomfortable, i can say goodbye to it. i’ve accepted they’ll never return to it and that’s okay, cus it was a great run that i can always go back to.
@@AndyBluebear-fi9om I’m not the biggest fan of it tbh but I don’t mind it. And I don’t really mind misamos new song I just can’t really stand one members voice…. I love her but her voice just isn’t it for me. I’d like them to make songs like cry for me tho or alcohol free
Their upcoming album Strategy I feel would be in similar vein of their recent releases, particularly TTT and Scientist (without the theming). I wonder about the announcement of all TWICE’s upcoming collab with Megan and appearance in Coldplay’s Seoul concert dates alluding to the actualization of Strategy’s concept or there’s more at play?
They shouldn't continue the cute concept. Nayeon is 29 as the oldest and Tzuyu is 25 as the youngest. They've did enough cute stuff, they are all women and need to make music that fits their age and what they are going through as adults. Even the fans won't buy the cute music anymore since we've grown too. They can still have a cute charm but they need to find a new style of music. Plus even new young girl groups these days don't do a cute pop sound anymore. They should keep on doing what they did with Moonlight sunrise because that's one of the best newer songs they've released.
I prefer their cute concepts over the other ones but I agree that it doesnt make sense for them to go back to the cute concept again, they should move forward
I don't mind cute concepts if they're suitable to the group's image and the members are comfortable with it. But, Twice are in their 20s (Some Mid 20s IIRC) so they should be allowed to explore other options. Besides, not every group can do cute concepts forever in their careers.
I've noticed that a lot of people in the english speaking sphere, at least, seem to forget that kpop stars are adults, hell, some of twice are pushing 30 now. they arent kids anymore. idk why so many people are shocked when they see these stars doing adult things like drinking alcohol or mentioning sexual things
ready to be is their best album musically speaking. it's the most different & unique and also the most diverse and dynamic release to date. i was quite disappointed with "With you-th" .
this is interesting to see as someone who feels the opposite. i thought ready to be as an album was kind of underwhelming even though i do love/like most of the songs on it. i do agree that they tried many genres on the album which made it unique, but i think compared to other minis like fancy you, taste of love, and even with you-th it falls short.
@ ready to be is short but it’s the only bad thing about it. i wouldn’t mind getting a whole album which sounds like that. twice has a sound and they stick to it like butter on bread, so ready to be is extremely refreshing and they really nailed every single song on there. the rest of their discography compared feels flat idk. of course they have songs that i like here and there but never i liked every single song from a project of theirs. what’s your favorite album of twice im curious?
@@mai._.mp13 my favorite mini album is feel special. i think each song has a very concise message and leaves a strong impression. at that time both the title and bsides were very different lanes for twice to take, which made it compelling to me then and now. some of their best songs to this day are on feel special in my opinion. formula of love is my favorite studio album and from what i see most twice fans agree. the more conceptually planned albums end up being the best in the long run.
@@plumgf just re-listened to feel special and i still don’t connect to it. glad u enjoy it though. and i 100% agree on formula of love. it’s an amazing project all around, most of the songs off it are on my playlist:) taste of love has grown on me a lot actually (tnx for the rec)
@ every release won’t suit everyone’s tastes and that’s healthy to recognize. i didn’t mention it in my original reply to you, but i was glad to see someone speak positively about ready to be because a lot of onces i interact with strongly dislike it. it’s good to understand that you won’t like all of an artist’s songs and also see how different others’ perspectives are. i hope you tune in for their new album strategy and see what u think of it!
Twice may not go back to cute concept but they actually prove they can still similar things in Talk that Talk. TTT tbh is a cheerful songs if it wasnt for the sexy and mature outfit in the MV. Even Hare Hare can be considered "cute" Japanese release. But again, their outfit and overall MV is just not as colourful and bright as before.
Overall, I feel as though they haven't left their roots at all. Their new stuff is still cute, but also mature. They're music in a way kind, remnids me of Carly Rae Jepsen, aging doesnt mean being serious. Aging is having fun on your own terms and because of this, any age can listen and relate to their music.
My take on this is that the age or say the level of maturity with interpretation of music for most 3rd gen fans are actually at the right moment or time making them the perfect target market, most especially Twice. As Twice moves away from the cute concepts, the fans also start to mature and leave their hardcore embrace on the KPop market making it seem as most 3rd gen fans start to abandon their ult groups or the concepts of streaming and voting. Whereas Twice music also grows with them, the younger generation may not be as appreciative with the new music Twice gives as their interpretation of music does not cross or jive along each other anymore. This also shows why even though Twice has lesser votes/streams their concerts get filled up as their fans have also grown out of the streaming concepts (may be due to them being in the workforce now) and has their own hard earned money to get tickets. Twice music can never go back to the cutesy feel where we met them and we may outgrow or not get their music as much anymore but their evolution/maturity towards the industry is still one of the best selling and the fanbase they have established may be not as active anymore but they are still there and they will still be one of the best.
Mature or cute it doesn't matter to me as I have heard different types of music from them as they evolved from their earlier concepts to the current mature concept. I am very grateful that I have listened almost most of the genres of music because of them. They made me like some of the genres which I was not a big fan of. Twice will always be the no.1 kpop girl group for me and I have never regretted for it. They are my queens❤👑
I think Twice is focused on the music and that the K Pop standards of concepts and the like don't factor into what they do. And I can understand people lamenting that, and by golly the accoutrements around Taste of Love were nifty, but as long as the music is good (yes, I'm the guy who likes the whole Ready To Be album) and they're happy, I'm happy.
Twice opened the cute concept, other girl groups saw that formula was working so they did the same. Then they and closed it tight shut, the rest of the industry moved into a new direction. That ladies and gentlemen is impact. For that reason that’s why you see cute concepts nowadays criticised because everyone finds it outdated, it’s the *iLLUsiOn* of twice.
i love this video. ive always understood and agreed with everything you said. the problem is really really just creative direction and concept, Jyp plays it too safe with everything they do its so annoying, I want bigger and better for both Twice and Itzy. I do have hope for this upcoming album tho and hopefully Strategy may be the start of something new !!!
The thing with twice is that they built up almost 95% of their fanbase upon that "cute" concept. So, I kind of understand why some people might be disappointed with their change in concept since it's quite drastic. When they released fancy, it probably helped form the bridge between their cute concept and their current one. ICSM and their album Eyes Wide Open was probably their first release which is similar to their current style. In fact,I think twice struggle with kind of an identity crisis now like most other artists who also had similar change of concepts. Look at their newer relases, their concept doesn't seem to be defined and they are just sort of experimenting which is not wrong at all but can definetly lure away many fans. If they always had this kind of concept from the beginning this would have never occurred. I myself don't like their current concept that much but I respect it and they should definitely release what they want
I personally disagree. I think their last few albums have been their strongest to date. Especially With YOUth. Like my GAWD that album is stunning from start to finish. And also Dive is the most beautiful concept and musical narrative they have done.
I think I rather have twice return to 2018-2021 twice. Feel special, fancy, the whole lot of that music was great to me, the 2015-2017 twice was cute and great, but I always liked the fancy-2021 twice what more. And then since 2022 their music just wasn’t hitting the same. Idk, I just think the obsession over English in their songs now is what is off putting, they are getting somewhat better at English i guess, but they definitely aren’t native speakers so their English always felt off unless it was some phrase like fancy you, or feel special. So do I think they should go back to cute twice? No, but do I think they should go back a step? Yes. There’s a reason why their music has definitely tanked compared to 2018-2021. It’s just not as good, I’m sure they feel good about it, but as a group their music has taken a hit because it’s a bunch of English. And if you haven’t been a solely group stan you would’ve realized that the reason some kpop groups actually are doing well, is because their songs are mainly Korean. This has been a thing for the last while now, unless it’s like bts, or blackpink and they got brain dead fans who care about the idols not music Many songs that do extremely well in Korea are basically all Korean. I don’t know what jyp is doing, it’s been known that English doesn’t bode well for any group unless they have cult fans. Basically twice should just go back to 2020 or something. Too much English makes their songs sound awkward. And being too cute now would just be weird.
I like cute concepts too unless it just sounds like nursery rhymes 😭 I don't necessary agree with the idea that TWICE are too old for cute concepts, Oh my girl still do cute concepts and they debuted in the same year as TWICE but ofc if TWICE don't want to do it anymore then so it be
I think is so selfish for fans to demand the cute concept back even tho jeongyeon and jihyo expressed many times how uncomfortable they were, jeongyeon said that she was unhappy dancing to TT
Literally. She even said in an interview that she wanted to do a different concept especially being a young woman in her early 20‘s and not be told to do a concept she didn‘t feel necessarily comfortable in. Jihyo also cringed when talking about What Is Love‘s choreography
Niziu is currently taking over twice's cute concept for kpop. See their song "heartris" and other b side songs. It's very Twice 2015-2020 vibes.
@@jxstadrithe only thing cringy thing now is their music. They should have called it quits after 2019.
@@MLedZeppelinZoSoA not you basically calling songs like I Can‘t Stop Me, Cry For Me, Alcohol-Free, Talk That Talk and so on cringe. Oh get away, tasteless person
@@MLedZeppelinZoSoA why call it quits when they're bagging so much money and endoresements than ever before?
i personally think taste of love is twice’s best work in terms of maturing their sound/image. it has this sorta “girls night out” vibe to it and ngl, it’s something i would like to see more of.
Seconded. Right between cute and sexy. That's where TWICE is strongest.
taste of love forever my favorite from them!! like as a body of work i feel like its perfect.
100% agree, couldn’t have said otherwise better myself.
It would have made more sense to leave on a high note and call it quits in 2019 because the majority of their releases after that year have been stinkers.
Once a group leaves the cute concept, they can't go back. It never feels right.
Lol I prefer groups like APINK Kara Red Velvet that switch it without being too cute.. Bubble is my favorite song
That's why i never liked Talk That Talk once you stamp a sound and you change it it's just weird
But they have literally gone back to cute multiple times. TTT was cute, scientist too
honestly ive observed that most people that wish for twice to get back to their cute concept arent even onces. if youre a once you know really well that that they dont feel comfortable anymore with the cute concept and want to do different things. jeongyeon for example said many times that she disliked the cute songs they had to perform... and i think that a "mature" concept suits all of them very much and comes off as natural.
I can still want them to go back to a concept like that or wish for them to go back while still being a once as long as I’m not forcing it
Tzuyu lost happiness after the cute era , no mention how sad she looks with her solo
@ I don’t she looks sad cause of her solo song she’s just always lacked facial expressions
@w0nyst0e watch her old eras...dance the night away etc
as a baby once who is more familiar with their recent works- stuff like “more and more”, “i can’t stop me”, “talk that talk”, “feel special”, “moonlight sunrise”, “one spark”, “dive”, and misamo’s “do not touch” are exactly what i want them to keep making (if they want to). they’re grown women and deserve to be doing more than playing cutesy schoolgirls with crushes. i like some of their cuter songs (big fan of signal, what is love, candy pop, and scientist) but i’d get bored with the concept, too, if i was them.
besides, a more mature concept doesn’t mean we can’t still have fun. abcd may be a solo song, but it’s proof that a twice member can shed the bubblegum pop image and it feels natural as well as being a blast to listen to!
As a reveluv panda I agree with mature bright

Exactly!! Same here! I LOVE the more mature music!! I GOT YOU, Set me free, Rush, Bloom, Identity, KMG, Abcd, run away, Dive, like damn these songs are all SO GOOD!
@SquirtlePower809 boring so sleepy 😴
I really want them to create a song same as " I can't stop me", where Jihyo, Nayeon, and Jeongyeon battling for vocals, it's so powerful.
no lol, don't get me wrong but it still haunts me (or maybe the members too) whenever they sing I can't stop me
i just love how much you actually love to talk about twice like there is just so much to cover when it comes to twice
couldn't agree more!! im personally manifesting some more "flexing/bragging" lyrics like we got a bit in their collab with Megan Thee Stallion and in Icon. Not necessarily rap, but just letting them flex and have a cool concept without romance in the front and centre
"your favorite girl groups sing our songs" i GASPED when i heard that
@@aessseon IKR like YESSS QUEENS talk your shit!!
For me this is what they can try. A concept like Perfect World and to add, something like Cry For Me.
@tuckyciudadano6434 I agree. I still wish we got a Cry For Me music video
I Can't Stop Me was LITERALLY perfect. We hit the sweet spot there. We didn't need to start going back with Scientist. We need more songs from WOMEN
Woah, don't come for scientist please lol. That's literally one of my faves
I like hare hare..scientist feel special concepts so bright but mature
I've been thinking a lot about what makes a Twice concept a Twice concept, and I think it's something I'm gonna try to break down if possible. It's just a big task, but thank you for this video because it does offer a helpful perspective :)
I’m looking forward to it!! I’d really like to hear your perspective on this, but yeah definitely take your time!
i adore cutesy concepts but there’s a reason twice aren’t the only gg in the industry; there are plenty of groups killing that concept! their old music never went away either so there’s no reason twice should regress just bc some people want them to. also scientist & TTT are cutesy but were paid dust (😭) so…
i’m happy they have a grown sound and want them to move away from the topic of love overall though. i know they have more interesting stories to tell
Let's hope their new title coming out in December will be promoted better.
it seems JYPE is working hard for this next album, so I hope they're getting all the promos they want.
I personally don't agree, but to each their own I guess. Imo their best work so far has been the last few releases-- Between 1/2, RTb, With YOuth (this is probably their most incredible mini album) and Dive (my fave concept they have ever done. The whole underwater fantasy world theme was stunning!)
their recent comebacks haven’t been like that at all.. what??
YOURE SO RIGHT ABOUT ONE SPARK
I didn’t know it was an older b side but that doesn’t surprise me
I really felt like there was a cohesion in the b sides that one spark kinda didn’t have
There also wasn’t a visual identity at all to this album 😭 it literally felt like Walmart brand twice in terms of the packaging and marketing of it all
The bsides are pretty good and I do like one spark as a song still, but it’s like idk the way that album was delivered im not a huge fan of
Yeah that’s how I feel too.
I thought With YoUth was a PHENOMENAL album. And Dive is absolutely perfect and my fave Twice concept ever
Fandom means to be fun, so don't press yourself too hard to stan a group!
its been a bad week thank you for this vid
Cute is such a level surface word, it make things feel childish.
Alcohol free is a great song. The message its simple "when I'm with i feel like I'm drunk but instead of alcohol is love" There's this innocence in talking about how you feel when you're in love but it's not in a cute way or childlike way but i would describe it as cheeky. And the song is genius because it mentions this tropical cocktails and the rhythms/melodies are more latin-bossa nova inspire. Is a tropical, summer-y song. And the video, visual concept is so well executed.
Is a well thought song throughout. ❤
Scientists is also a great song.
200% agree. Twicetagram and Taste of Love are the most cohesive sonically and based on concept
I like Scientist but it didnt fit the Formula of Love vibe. 90% of the song were towards cool and chic and Rewind, Espresso, and Cactus. I mean, Scientist sounded the opposite vibe from most of the rest of the album
theyre grown ass women and veteran idols who have had long careers. they should do whatever the hell concepts they want.
I AGREE WITH THIS SO MUCH!!!! I’m glad you made this video. I would love to see more vids abt this topic
Music video to "I got you" is such a masterpiece, so I hope that they will develop in this mature way and not circle back to cute concept
I would like to see album retrospectives on both Formula of Love and Taste of Love soon, as well a remake of the Rookie album retrospective video.
(J-POP)
I think pointing this out doesn’t make me less of a fan. I obviously like their songs, it’s just that some stick out more for me. If I wasn’t a fan, I wouldn’t have been to their concert or have all their albums. I love TWICE, but I don’t wanna see them acting like “16-year-old cute girls with a sweet school crush while cherry blossoms fall in the background”.
lmao i was just thinking about how much i hate cute concepts for both boy and girl groups
Also yesss Taste of Love is such a good EP and barely gets love when they go on tour.
Twice has been doing this all the time on their album thats why I very liked their album overall and not like just the Title track itself, especially FOL with the disco early 2000 vibe which is my very favorite album with them
I really can't wait what they will deliver with Strategy
@@m.syauqiabdurahman2798I think its gonna be good, it is different from their recent releases just by the title itself just like I mention on my main comment. I think were gonna enter an era of twice were they are done on correlating their concept about themeselves as an artist and for fans. They are gonna start releasing music that capture general public attention now especially the collab that is happening left and right for them. I dont mind the family friendly and appreciation music but kpop stans are so comfortable discrediting twice and their success.

Totally agree! I LOVE all of their recent releases! Dive is a perfect album! I'm so excited for strategy!!
Man I never get tired of your videos.
As long as they're happy with what they're releasing, we Onces will also be happy❤
Honestly I only became a real fan of Twice when they moved to more mature concepts
Same
omg i totally agree with you. i also find those who point out that twice havent been performing as well as they used to exhausting. twice are almost 10 years into their career, they dont have to continue to reach a peak forever, and its extremely overwhelming to hold artists to that. as a newjeans stan, people expect them to continue to break records with every release, when theyve already broken almost all of them, so seeing that happen with twice is disheartening. i think its unfair to want artists to continually do what is popular and brings in the most people, instead of prioritizing what the artists want to do.
We need more I can’t stop me and cry for me vibes tbh. Jeongyeon long blonde hair in I can’t stop me was amazing 💖
But we have gotten more like that. Set Me Free, Moonlight Sunrise, I GOt You, One Spark...like these are all mature bangers!!
My shuffle presented me with a Megan thee Stallion song ft. TWICE today. They’ve come a long way.
YESSSS I like the new TWICE, theyre the type of music to blast on my 8000w system !! misamo's identity makes my rearview look downwards 🔊🔊🔊🔊
Same!! Newer Twice is literally what turned me into a mega Once
Let’s recap this past year…
Pink Fantasy went on hiatus.
Also the company's direction is confusing and not communicated at all but they only have like 20 employees so...we're used to it
Also I could make a whole thread just about creepy concept, I think you've missed the part where all creepy groups disbanded bc no one gaf.
I miss the cute concept because it’s so nostalgic for me. But I love Twice as Twice, anything Twice does, for me, is perfect. Always here for Twice 💕
Some people gotta realize that idols are humans, not puppets
Mature twice >>> cute twice
Nah
is talk that talk considered a cute concept? i am not super familiar with twice's opinions on that track, but personally i think it was a very strong one that wasn't super cutesy that really suited the twice members! but aside from talk that talk i think i can't stop me + alcohol free were two incredible songs that have a maturity to them that really hits all the points that both twice (as it seems) and fans are looking for
Honestly there are twenty other groups who have dark concept or cool concepts.
But not at the point of unpreditability as itzy has become to me.
you always hit the nail on the head with what the issues are
I agree 💯 with everything you just said
mature concept suits them just as good as the cute one. they were younger when they did cute concept and with time, as they grow and mature, it just makes more sense to naturally try something more grown. some of the members are literally 30, how long should they make cutesy sogs? not to say that 30 is old because it's not (i'm 25 and get pissed when people think we gotta stop having fun because of our age). i just think that if twice never stopped doing cheer up like music, people would get 1) bored and 2) DEMAND that twice will change their sound to a more mature one simply because of the members growig up, becoming grown women
no way, cute concept is bes- oh, they don't want to do that anymore? Okie, they shouldn't do it then =)
We don't need more cute Twice, we need more Bloom / Good At Love's Twice! Imagine if Good At Love was a korean tt with a bold mv? SLAY
*ALSO* Their Japanese releases have been way better since a while, i need to receive an explanation for that.
Dive is my fave Twice album I think. It's SOOOOO GOOD
@SquirtlePower809 been listening to DIVE regularly, since it was released. And I agree, it's such a good album! It deserves more recognition.
They’re grown women 😭 let them live
as someone who adored Twice's cute concepts (Likey is still in my top 5 twice songs of all time), I wish their mature concepts and albums were given the same attention to detail that their cute albums were. like I Can't Stop Me is also in my top 5 but I haven't had any desire to buy the album because everything about it was so lackluster: the album packaging was boring with their most plain concept photos to date & most of the b-sides were just ~ok~ (with the exceptions of queen, go hard, do what we like, and up no more).
True, I didn't like a single song of theirs from 2023 either, I have the exact same opinion as you. Also are you an avgeek btw?

As sad as it seems, I do not think "cute" TWICE will come back, especially now that Megan is in the equation!!
Branching out and gaining attention here or there brings that attention back to the group.
they already tried with scientist and it did not recieved a good feedback so atp it's not about the cute concept anymore
tee bee ach scientist wasn’t a TRUE cute concept it was more on the side of what i like to call “bright mature” kind of like oh my mistake by april (rip)
Twice has been giving full instrumental, thick layered harmonies, swooping dramatic melodies, thoughtful and unique arrangements, stellar vocals with charm and character, poetic lyrics and song messages that have depth...like I can't say enough good things about where they are today!!
the way their new title track song is seeming to be another cute concept
Cute in their late 20s????? NAYEON is about to turn 30 😂
@@MCFCJake Twice should have ended on a high note in 2019 and retire, but no, they kept going and made awful music.
@@MLedZeppelinZoSoA you need to learn to move on. Artists can keep going in the direction they want and if you no longer like them or feel different just stick with their old releases. I did that with Muse... they deviated so much from their humble beginnings i stick with the old stuff

you can be cute at any age. cute doesn’t have to mean childish. why do y’all act like 30 is 80??
I don't think they should go back to cute concepts either but i would for them to do more upbeat songs like Fancy and The Feels
i love their mature concepts, but then again i like cute songs every now and then. but we have the whole first quarter of their catalog to listen to if we want something cute
I don’t mind the fact that they changed concept I just don’t quite like their new songs that much
Really? I thought Dive offered some of their best work overall in years.
@@AndyBluebear-fi9om I’m not the biggest fan of it tbh but I don’t mind it. And I don’t really mind misamos new song I just can’t really stand one members voice…. I love her but her voice just isn’t it for me. I’d like them to make songs like cry for me tho or alcohol free
pls jype the girls have been mentioning sexy concepts GIVE IT TO THEM ‼️‼️‼️
Their upcoming album Strategy I feel would be in similar vein of their recent releases, particularly TTT and Scientist (without the theming). I wonder about the announcement of all TWICE’s upcoming collab with Megan and appearance in Coldplay’s Seoul concert dates alluding to the actualization of Strategy’s concept or there’s more at play?
Twice collab with megan is already out.... Mamushi remix...

@@manogaming6534 I think they're talking about strategy having Megan thee stallion as a feature!
Cute concept or not just accept the fact TWICE are so damn cute!!! ❤❤❤
Imo cute twice> mature twice< music wise but as long as they are happy then I’m fine with it
They shouldn't continue the cute concept.
I LOVE and MISS the old twice but I don't want them to come back. twice now is formed by 9 adult women, the mature concept fits them so much.
The Feels having the essence of OG cute Twice was actually rather important imo because it showed off their DNA and how they got there
I don't mind cute concepts if they're suitable to the group's image and the members are comfortable with it.
But, Twice are in their 20s (Some Mid 20s IIRC) so they should be allowed to explore other options. Besides, not every group can do cute concepts forever in their careers.
If you want peak twice back, just stan stayc.. its not that hard
kep1er too!
@@plumgf just re-listened to feel special and i still don’t connect to it. glad u enjoy it though. and i 100% agree on formula of love. it’s an amazing project all around, most of the songs off it are on my playlist:)
taste of love has grown on me a lot actually (tnx for the rec)
They have grown up, so time to move from Cute To the Direction they are headed now......
I do have hope for this upcoming album tho and hopefully Strategy may be the start of something new !!!
itzy has been making bold moves lol that’s exactly why many people have been hating them
The thing with twice is that they built up almost 95% of their fanbase upon that "cute" concept.
Bro they are almost 30 why would they go back LOL
This has been a thing for the last while now, unless it’s like bts, or blackpink and they got brain dead fans who care about the idols not music
Many songs that do extremely well in Korea are basically all Korean. I don’t know what jyp is doing, it’s been known that English doesn’t bode well for any group unless they have cult fans.
Basically twice should just go back to 2020 or something. Too much English makes their songs sound awkward. And being too cute now would just be weird.
Whys everyone bashing the cute concept? I love it 😭 why can't they do both? 😭❤️
Cuz they’re maturing. It’s not alwyas pleasant to act 5 when you’re nearing 30
